Liberty Redhawk Wrestling: Welcome

~~ Building the Tradition ~~

Wrestler's Code
Winning isn't a sometime thing
It's an all the time thing
You don't win once in a while
You don't do things right once in a while
You do them right all the time
There isn't room for second place
There's only one place
and that's... FIRST PLACE!!!

Liberty Men Win Thriller at Lone Star High School

The Liberty wrestling team defeated Lone Star High School last night in the most exciting match of the year. Liberty had a three point lead going into the heavyweight match, so whoever wins that match wins the meet.

Following pins from Beau Brittain, Dillon Devolk, Nick Plasko, and Tyler Crawford, Senior Richard Smith bumped up a weight class to 182 and secured a pin in the 2nd period to give the Redhawks a 33-18 lead.

In the most exciting match of the night, nay the year, Ethan "the Avenger" Fabian stepped on the mat against a foe who had pinned him last weekend at the Cougar Classic. Trailing by three points with one minute left, Ethan tied the score with a takedown with two seconds remaining on the clock, and then secured a takedown in overtime to win the meet for Liberty, 36-30.

Sophmore Aidan Blong earned a tough 12-6 decision at 138 to round out the scoring.  Rookies Hayden Vest, Deontae Hill, and David Essien continued to improve with just 2 weeks to go until the District meet.

The team will be taking it easy today as they rushed the mat and tried to lift the joyous Ethan. No small task.

The Men's team will head to the Coyote Classic on Saturday at Heritage High School.
