Wednesday, October 7 ABOUT STARZ LACROSSE Starz Lacrosse is an Elite Program designed to provide an enhanced level of coaching, instruction, education and competition to players with a true passion for the game. Our coaching staff is comprised of coaches with top level playing experience and the same passion for the game that we seek in our players. By combining the best of talent and coaching, atmosphere and friendships, the Starz experience is sure to benefit the development of our young student athletes. HISTORY Starz was founded in 2004 by Scott Hochstadt, three-time All-American Attackman at the University of Maryland, who played professional lacrosse in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and National Lacrosse League (NLL). Scott was the Offensive Coach of the San Francisco Dragons. By 2005, over 1,000 boys and girls ranging from Seattle to Arizona played Starz lacrosse. Starz was created to give players an opportunity to play for competitive club teams who ultimately want to compete at the next level. Since its inception, Starz has seen tremendous growth in both our clubs as well as the sport of lacrosse on the west coast. This year, we will see Starz Clubs in Seattle, Tacoma, Oregon, Northern and Southern California, Las Vegas, Arizona and Austin. Over 2,500 of the west coast’s best lacrosse players will wear the Starz uniform in 2009! SOCAL STARZ CUP Since the summer of 2004, Starz Lacrosse has been providing high level lacrosse in the off-season for the best players in Southern California. As the sport has grown on the West Coast, the competition has been brought to a new level resulting in the expansion of the Starz Cup League. The SoCal Starz Cup League consists of 2 seasons per year; winter and summer. The club teams entered in the league will be based around specific school districts and give players the opportunity to have a high level of competition outside of their school seasons. The goal of the Starz Cup League is to provide the best competition in Southern California, improve player skills in the off season with his/her respective teams, and provide an opportunity to be nominated for West Coast Starz; one of the most elite club teams in the United States. Within the league there are two Conferences: North (OC and LA) and South (SD). Teams will compete in a series of 8 games that will culminate into the Conference Starz Cup Championship at the end of the season. There is a Northern Conference Starz Cup Champion as well as a Southern Conference Starz Cup Champion for all divisions (Elite, High School, Middle School, Youth, Mini). New to the winter 2009 season, Starz is recognizing a Champion between the North and South Conferences. The top 4 teams from each Conference Championship will come together in a central location to compete to become the overall Champions of the SoCal Starz Cup League. DIVISIONS There are 5 Divisions (age groups) recognized by Starz Lacrosse starting with 3rd grade and running through 12th grade. The age group breakdown is as follows:
MINI: Current 3rd & 4th grade (Summer season: completed 3rd & 4th)
