Renaissance City Softball League: League Rules
On the field RCSL Officer/ASA Umpire decisions are final. Rule revision will be the method of correction used to prevent future rule interpretation/ questions of the RCSL variations. The RCSL plays by the American Softball Association (ASA) rules with the following exceptions:

SUMMER RULES
.44 Core Softball No Metal Cleats
BATS RCSL follows the NAGAAA band bat list
No multiwall bats in games involving teams with a NAGAAA rating of 'D'
HOME RUNS
No 'over the fence' home runs are allowed in games involving teams with a NAGAAA rating of 'D'
Limit of one 'over the fence' home run per game involving teams with a NAGAAA rating of 'C'
Any additional 'over the fence' home run(s) is an automatic out (no runners advance)
PLAYERS
Teams my play up to 2 'Extra Hitters' in the starting line-up (for a total of 12)
A late arriving player will be added to the end of the line-up
Teams must alert the opposing team of the injured player(s) pre-game @ exchange of line-ups (or at time of injury if occurring during the game)
MERCY RULE
A team leading by 15 (or more) runs after 3 innings will allow the trailing team to bat their remaining outs (clearing the bases after each 3 out sequence) through 7 innings.
If the team that was trailing by 15 (or more) runs ties the score or takes the lead, the team that was originally leading will be given back their deferred innings offensively.
Unlimited number (per inning/per game) Last batter out is designated as the courtesy runner
UNIFORMS
All players must have (different) numbered 'like' colored shirts (numbers on the back, minimum height of 6 inches)
Players are recommended to keep the numbers to two (2) digits - ASA tournaments will enforce the 2 digit rule
TIME LIMIT
No inning begins after 65 minutes (the clock will stop in the event of an injury until the umpire resumes play)
At the end of 7 innings or the time limit (whichever comes first),
International Rules will be used to break the tie score (last batter out the previous inning begins the next inning as a runner on 2nd base)
There is a 15 minute grace time for the start of each game which is taken from the original 65 minute game time leaving a 50 minue game time.
After the 15 minutes the team unable to take the field forfiets.
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
A waiver form must be signed by all players (including returning players)
All players must pay a $35 Player Fee for the 2007 Spring/Summer Season.
This fee is nonrefundable.
It must be paid by the beginning of the third week of play.
If a player has not paid their fee by this date they become ineligable to play until it is paid in full.
FIGHTING / DISCRIMINATION
Fighting (physical) will result in immediate RCSL expulsion of the individual initiating the fight The 2nd player punishment will be determined on a case by case basis
Any additional player joining in a fight will be expelled from the RCSL
There is a no tolerance policy and there are no second chances when it comes to harassment.
Harrashment (physical or verbal) by any staright player towards a GLBT will result in immediate RCSL expulsion of the straight individual.

The RCSL, in an effort to promote athletics & friendship within the GLBT community in conjunction with our non-GLBT friends will not have any exclusionary number or percentage rule based upon orientation. If in the opinion of the RCSL officers, any team is not fully in accordance with the intent of the RCSL, the officers reserve the right to make roster changes. We begin the season in good faith believing that all teams will adhere to the spirit of the intent.
