Cardinals Fall Short

The Cardinals hosted Grandview Monday night and fell short 67-72. After having the lead after the 3rd quarter 56-44, the Bulldogs outscored Raytown South 28-11 in the final period. Bryan Trimble lead the Cards in scoring with 17 points. He also contributed 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Tyrone Gibbs added 16 points along with 11 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Cardinals are now 9-14 on the year and 2-6 in conference play. 

The next game for the Cardinals is Tuesday Feb 25th as they travel to Winnetonka.

Cardinals Win in OT

On Friday Feb 22, The Cardinals hosted the Liberty North Eagles for a conference matchup. After being tied up at 50 at the end of regulation, the Cardinals scored 4 points in the overtime period to edge out the Eagles 54-52. Bryan Trimble led the way for the Cardinals with 14 pts. He also added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Tyrone Gibbs added 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The Cardinals improved to 9-13 overall and 2-5 in conference. 

The game for the Cardinals is Monday Feb 24 when they host conference rival Grandview.

Thursday, February 20
Cardinals Lose to Conference Rival Kearney

Cardinals lost a conference home game Tuesday night to Kearney 48-31. The Cardinals are still looking for their 1st home win of the season and only have 1 win in conference. Tyrone Gibbs tallied 13 points and 7 rebounds, making this the 5th game in a row and 15 games this season he has scored in double figures. 

The Cardinals have another conference matchup Friday 2/21 as they host Liberty North. The Eagles are 14-8 overall and 5-1 in conference.

Cardinals Fall Short to Conference Rival Grandview

On Firday the Cardinals traveled to Grandview where they fell short to the Bulldogs 54-56. After having the lead at 42-38 after the 3rd quarter, Grandview outscored Raytown South 18-12 in the final period. Tyrone Gibbs had 22 points, making 7-9 free throws, and added 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocked shots. This was Gibbs' 4th consecutive game scoring double figure points and his 14th game overall.

The Cardinals dropped to 8-12 overall and 1-4 in conference. The Bulldogs are 15-6 overall and 5-0 in conference. 

Raytown South will host Conference opponent Kearney on Tues Feb 16th at Bud Lathrop Gymnasium. Tip-off is 7:00pm. 

Tuesday, February 11
Cardinals Drop Conference Game to Liberty North

Last night the Cardinals traveled to Liberty North and came up short 47-45. Tyrone Gibbs led the way with 19 points shooting 9/13 from the FT line. He had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Demon Hyler had 8 points and added 2 steals. 

Raytown South drops to 7-11 on the season, and 0-3 in conference. Their next game is Tuesday 2/11/14 at Platte County.

Schedule Update
Our game vs. Grandview that was scheduled for Jan 31st has been rescheduled to Feb 24th due to weather. Also, our game vs. Liberty North that was scheduled for Feb 4th has been rescheduled to Feb 10th due to weather.

Cardinals Fall Short to Conference Rival Kearney

After winning two in a row, the Cardinals come up short at Conference Rival Kearney 50-37. With only shooting 31% from the field, the Cardinals didn't have anyone score in double digits. Demon Hyler scored 9 points and Tyrone Gibbs added 8. Poor shooting and Turnovers led the Cardinals to their lowest scoring game of the season. 

The Cardinals fall to 7-9, and host Conference Rival Grandview this Friday 1/31.

Cardinals Bounce Back

After loosing 2 games on MLK day, the Cardinals played Ruskin in the 2nd round of the Culver's Tournament. Freshman Elijah Childs led the way with 15 points, 4 rebounds and Tyrone Gibbs added 12 points and 5 rebounds as the Cardinals defeated Ruskin 55-53.

In the Consolation Championship the Cardinals played the Broncos of Lee's Summit North. After being down by 4 at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Cardinals scored 21 points in the 4th to beat Lee's Summit North 60-54. Tyrone Gibbs had a season high 24 points, and also added 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Rodney Johnson contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds as the Cardinals win their 2nd straight. 

Next game for Ray South is Tues 1/28 vs. Conference rival Kearney. 

Wednesday, January 22
Cardinals fall to 5-8 after dropping 3 straight

Last Friday Raytown South lost in 3OT to Blue Springs 81-76. Bryan Trimble hit some big shots at the end of the 1st and 2nd OT, but the Cardinals came up short after Tyrone Gibbs fouled out in the 3rd OT.

On Monday, MLK day the Cardinals took on Raytown at the Sprint Center and fell short 78-68. But there was no time to reflect on the loss as the had to travel to Lee's Summit High School to play Lee's Summit West in the first round of the Culver's Classic at 8:30pm. Lee's Summit West had a running clock in the 4th to beat the Cardinals 78-37.

The Cards will now play Ruskin tonight @ 4pm in the Consolation bracket of the Culver's Classic.

The Cardinals are now 5-8 on the year.  

Tuesday, January 14
Cards Drop to 5-5 after losing to Rockhurst

The Cardinals traveled to Rockhurst last Tuesday and fell short 42-35. Turnovers were a major problem, as the Cards recorded a season high 23. After being up by 3 after 3 quarters, the Cardinals only scored 2 points in the 4th to allow Rockhurst to seal the game.

Tyrone Gibbs scored 11 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and had 3 blocks in the game. Bryan Trimble added 8 points and 3 rebounds.

The Cardinals have a 10 day break and play next at Blue Springs

Tuesday, January 7
Season Update

Over the Christmas Break the Cardinals traveled to Jefferson City to compete in the Great 8 Capital City Invitational. They dropped their 1st round game to Upper Arlington (OH) 63-40. Demon Hyler led the Cardinals in scoring with 13 points. He also contributed 2 reb, 3 ast, and 4 steals.

In the 2nd game of the tournament the Cardinals beat Columbia Battle (MO) 53-48. Bryan Trimble led the team in scoring with 18 pts and also tallied 4 reb, 1 ast, and 2 stl. Jabril Cox also added 11 points and 8 reb. 

In the Consolation Championship the Cardinals lost to Helias Catholic (MO) 49-29. Demon Hyler led the team in scoring with 9 points. Jabril Cox added 4 points and 9 reb.

Demon Hyler was also named to the All-Tournament Team, and Rico Nimrod was the 3-point contest champion.  


The Cardinals are now 5-4 on the year, and play @ Rockhurst tonight (1/7) @ 7pm

Tuesday, December 10
Cardinals Drop Their 2nd Straight Game

After dropping their home opener to Summit Christian last week, the Cards drop their Conference opener to Winnetonka 70-57. Shooting 27% (16-58) from the field to Winnetonka's 63% (23-36), and turing the ball over 23 times, gave the Cards a tough shot at winning this one. They did however forced Winnetonka to turn the ball over 32 times.

Tyrone Gibbs lead the way for the Cards with 18 points,5 rebs, 1 steal, 1 block. Hezekiah Goodwin also had 10 points with 4-4 from the free throw line.

The Cardinals are now 0-2, 0-1 in conference, and their next game is the opening round of the Leavenworth Invitational Tournament. They will face Topeka High.

Basketball Season is Here!

After hosting the first ever Basketball Jamboree this past Saturday, The Cardinals are ready to start their season. They open up the year at Home against Summit Christian Academy on Tuesday Nov. 26. JV plays at 5:30 and Varsity starts at 7pm.

First Game is Coming Up!

Our first game is next Saturday, Nov 23rd at home. We are hosting Jamboree against St. Joe Lafayette, Harrisonville, and Lee's Summit. Tip-off starts at 7:00 pm. Come out to Bud Lathrop Gymnasium and get your first glance at this years team.

Our Team is Set!


Tryouts are finally over. All of the coaches would like to thank everyone that came out this year. We will have a second set of tryouts for any football player that would like to tryout for the basketball team. The date for those tryouts will be determined based on when the football season is over. Stay tuned for more details!

Tryouts Start Today!

Tryouts for this years team start today right after school.

 Freshman tryouts will last all week, due to large numbers and limited gym space, and JV/V tryouts will conclude today.

 We will hold additional tryouts for any football player that wishes to tryout for the basketball team after the end of football season.

Cardinals are Victorious Over Tonka
Last night the Cardinals travled to Winnetonka where they took on the Griffins in their "Pack The House" Night. Raytown South came out on top, beating Tonka 65-49. Bryan Trimble set a season and career high in points with 27. He shot 50% from the field and made both Free Throws he attempted. Elijah Childs also added 10 points and 6 rebounds. 

Wednesday, March 5
Cardinals Win 3 Straight

After loosing to Grandview last Monday, the Cardinals have won 3 straight, including the 1st round of the District Tournament.

Last Tuesday Feb. 25th, the Cardinals traveled to Winnetonka. Raytown South beat the Griffins 65-49, led by Bryan Trimbles 27 points. Trimble also added 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Elijah Childs contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Last Friday Feb. 28th, the Cardinals hosted the Platte County Pirates on Senior Night. after being ahead 35-24 at halftime, the Cardinals finished the regular season strong with a 69-61 win. Bryan Trimble scored 21 points and Ronyeah Sigars added 12 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

On Monday March 3rd, the Cardinals hosted Pembroke Hill in the opening round of the Class 4 District 14 Tournament. Raytown South won 66-38 led by Elijah Childs with 25 ponits and 10 rebounds. Bryan Trimble also added 14 points shooting 4-6 from behind the arc. 

Raytown South will now host Conference rival Grandview in the semi-final game of the ditsrict tournament. Game is Thursday March 6th at 5:30pm.
