When you call say that you are interested in playing for the team and what position you feel you would be best at.  Give your age and brief description of whatever skills you may have. 

We only want team players that love football that won't be disruptive or quit.  We do not need Quarterbacks, anyone coming on wishing to play Quarterback will not be happy so just save yourself the aggravation.
