Rapid City Rage: Welcome

The RCYSL Challenge Rage has ended it's run as one of the best teams in SD at the U13 level.  Cool thing is, they were a U12 team.  These girls gave their all and even when other coaches said they were lucky, just good athletes without soccer skills they proved they had the best skills out there.  Luck is winning a close game every now and again.

These girls went to Sioux Falls and went 5-0 in a U13 tournament and to Steamboat, CO and went 4-1 against very good competition.  To the Rage girls, thank you for all of your hard work these past 2 years.  Keep working on your individual skills and next year we'll do it again!

The Rage ended the Spring season with an 18-8-1 record.  In all over the 2 years they   were 69-22-9.  Very well done ladies!

The Rage is in it's final tournament as a team.  We are currently in Steamboat, CO. competing.  First game was a 4-0 win over a Denver, CO team.  Girls played awesome.  Goals were scored by Taylor, Mallory and Jayci.  Even the other coach came up to comment how well they were organized and how "Smart" they were! I agree!

Game 2 saw us play a team Broomfield, CO.  They were a very good team but again the skill of the Rage was too much and with goals by Mallory & Morgan, we took the 2-0 win.    Again, this coach came up to me after the game telling me how skilled the girls were.

Game 3 was a battle with the Trebol white girls who were also very tough.  The 1st half was a little rugged but in the last 10 minutes the girls again played with heart & guts and pulled out a 2-0 win.  We're in the semi's undefeated with NO goals scored against.

The Rage won their semi-final game over a very tough team 3-2.  Seemed like we got no calls from the referee in the first half, but in the second we did get set play just outside of the area and a beautifully executed play led to Kyra touching in the go-ahead goal.  A short time later Savannah booted in a PK for the 3-1 lead before they scored again.  Our first goal was off a botched free kick by the other team where Savannah touched it to Taylor for the 1-0 lead.  We're in the finals and our team goal was to watch the Womens World Cup final highlights since we wanted to be in our own finals !  we did it!

Last weekend, the girls played in the 3 v 3 tournament.  They took 1st and 3rd.  Team Furious 5 (Kassidy, Mallory, Peyton, Taylor and Gabbi) beat a Clash team by 2 goals to win the tournament having gone undefeated.  Team SWAT (Soccer with Attitude) made up of Rheanna, Sarah, Kyra, Jayci and Rachel, took 3rd place.  Nice job by all of the girls who played.

The 2nd week of June We went to Sioux Falls and the Dakota Alliance tournament.  we played up in the U13 select division.  Every game was against bigger and faster girls but the size of the girl's hearts was underestimated by the other teams.  We went undefeated and only gave up 3 goals.  We won 5 in a row and took the Championsip.  These girls are wonderful and played their hearts out! Well done ladies.

Summary of the spring 2011 Rage season.

Game one vs. the much bigger U14 Custer boys was a 2-1 win

Game two vs. the U14 Thunder included a 1-0 halftime lead that was eventually lost leading to a 2-1 loss.  Nothing to hang our head about as these boys were big and one score was blast way over the head of Mikayla Holt from just past mid-field by their biggest kid!

Games 3 and 4 were a double header with half of the team each playing of the Hot Spring U12 boys.  First game was won 7-3 and the second one was won 5-1.

Game 5 was vs a u14 boys team.  We played rather poor and was down most of the game.  The girls fought back for a 1-1 tie within the last 60 seconds of the game.

Game 6 was our boy arch-rivals, the Rampage.  Coach Rich led the charge as I was out of town and despite one break-away goal, we dominated the possession game but lost 1-0.

Game 7 was against another U14 girls team and we ended up scoring several times and pulled out the win and held the shutout.

Game 8 was against the always very tough Rushmore Girls U13 team.  The 2-1 win was hard fought but the girls played very well I thought.

Game 9 was against a rec team who only had 11 players.  We worked on some different things as they got wore out due to lack of subs and scored 5 goals without giving up any.  Well done ladies!

We're headed to Wyoming playing some great soccer and holding a 6-2-1 record!

Sheridan has brought the beef.  We're playing girls who I would swear are in High School.  Our first game was a 2-0 loss to a very big, fast and physical Lander, WY team.  We could not finish and gave up 1 goal in each half.

Our 2nd game was much better with the Rage contorlling possession about 65% of the time.  We had some great shots on goal and even better defense and were able to knock in 2 goals for a 2-0 win!

Sheridan U13 girls were tough...got knocked around and gave up 3 goals.  Still giving up 5 goals all weekend is not all bad!  Well done ladies.  Went 1-2

We returned to play the RSC U12 boys who are very good.  Took our worst loss as a team in a 7-0 defeat but we were missing 2 girls who were sick and a couple of others who were injured.

Next game was vs. the Rushmore Girls U13 girls team.  We slipped up one time and let a shot in.  never recovered and lost 1-0.  Still not bad.  Girls are recovering from sickness and a couple were gone!  I'm proud of them anyway.

Next we played a U14 team and won by a few so that put us to 8-5-1 for the season.

The RYCSL Champions Cup was next for the Rage.  We played a very tough gave vs. our Cross-Town Rivals the Clash.  Although we really domianted the whole first half in possession and played well in the 2nd, they put one in with a little time left and we lost to them 1-0.  We then went on to tie Sturgis and finished last in the tournament.  Not a great showing but was a good lesson for the team to have! Sitting at 8-6-1 for the season.

We next played the U13 Thunderstorm.  We've never beat these girls and they are always great competition.  This time we lost 2-1.  Those girls are tough!  8-7-1 for the season.

Our final regular season game was against the Clash again.  we worked for 2 straight weeks on finishing since the first time we played the Clash this year we kept missing the net.  It worked and at half we were up 2-0 and went on for a 3-0 win.  Huge win against a very, very good team.  After the game we talked about next year as we had a joint picnic.  It was a good time.
