What Little League means to ME!

I believe RBLL to me is an organization that teaches life lessons of; responsibility by maintaining their uniform and equipment; teamwork by consistently being supportive of their fellow players; sportsmanship of fair play against their opponents; determination to improve oneself expressed through the game of baseball.   I believe the main objective for ALL RBLL volunteers to make it fun for all the boys and girls; make all of them better baseball players; and provide experiences that ALL kids will walk away from a RBLL season with a smile and fond memories.  I believe winning is tertiary behind character building and having fun.  I believe that every player, manager, coach, umpire and parent is representing his or her community as an American playing America’s game.

LL Baseball to me is about seeing and teaching young men to grow into leaders who cherish competition, yet respect opponents and effort from team mates and opponents alike.   It's about learning to be a steward of the whole vice - putting the needs of a team before the individual's gratification.  Accepting that sometimes you can put forth the maximum effort, and realize you are a winner by that alone because you have exercised control over what you can control.

Ever since I was a Little Leaguer, I knew someday I would be a coach.  Being a Manager and Board Member starts with a strong passion for baseball, but that is only the beginning.  Little League is much more than teaching baseball to the youth of our area, it is about instilling life lessons.   Little League is about being part of a team, uniting and learning to rely on teammates and holding yourself accountable to others.  Being part of a team is something we all participate in. Our family is a team and our workplace is a team; being successful in life means being successful as part of different teams.   Little League is my platform to teach kids unity through highs and lows while always showing respect for others. Every year this organization brings together the community by establishing friendships between kids and adults that will last a lifetime.  I am honored to be a part of the Board of Directors team of Rancho Bernardo Little League.

To me, Little League is a safe, healthy, social and fun organization. I love having my family be a part of this organization. My son has made so many wonderful friends since he began in Little League about 6 or 7 years ago. He just started Middle School last week and he was so excited to see friends from all the other Rancho Bernardo Elementary Schools from which he had made friends with through Little League. His friends from Little League are amongst my favorites. They are kids like my son and have parents a lot like myself and my husband- we want to keep our kids in a safe, healthy, active environment when they are not in school or at home. I think my son has learned a lot of great values about life and the pursuit of health and happiness through RBLL. Why I am on the board:I want to be a part of anything my son has a healthy passion for. My son loves baseball and hanging out with his friends, both new and old. I feel Little League is such a great organization for my son to be a part of. I have also enjoyed the friendships I have made with many of the parents. I am glad to be able to be on the Board and be a part of RBLL.

Little League is an opportunity for families to come together enjoying a sport that we all love.  There is nothing I would rather be doing on a Saturday than watching my boys and all the other boys in their division playing hard, having fun and working as a team!   I think Little League offers so many great things to each child that plays, teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility and friendships to name just a few.  The amount of pleasure that little league has brought to me and my family is simply priceless.

What LL Baseball to me: I just like to work with kids in any sport. Help them develop there skills toa higher level. Watch them grow and grow so one day they will in the Big Show. By being a volunteer on the RBLL Board is one way to help the community andall the kids.  But most for all I am a big kid at heart like the rest of you.

What Little League means to me….

Little League means to me the opportunity for young men/women to develop physically, mentally and emotionally. Little League means to me a place where a kid is safe from whatever is going on at home. Little League means to me a place where a kid can become a leader or a place where a kid ins included no matter what.Little League means to me a place where an adult can make a lasting impression on a child that is not their own.Little League means to me a place where heroes are made.Little League means to me a place where memories that last a lifetime are created. That is what Little League Baseball means to me.I am on the board of RBLL to help insure that Little League baseball is all of those things for someone else.

My thoughts on Little league,  I have been coaching or managing for the last 7 almost 8 years and have seen little boys become young men. These boys have developed into skilled baseball players, who enjoy a game that is teaching them so many lessons about life. It has showed me many different attitudes and personalities, which have developed a sense of teamwork and caring that makes us all better. Watching the boys improve and grow over the years makes me proud to be a part of RBLL.

LL is an opportunity for me to help our kids learn about baseball in a fun non-threatening environment. It is about teaching them sportsmanship and learning that it is not all about winning the game, how they play and interact is more important than winning on the scoreboard. I value the time spent with my children, their teammates and all the players in the league as an opportunity to help teach them life skills and hopefully help them become better people.

What LL Baseball is to me:

I participate in LL Baseball to try and give something back to the community I live in by volunteering my time to work with kids in a learning environment.  For me it is a way to spend time with my own children as they are on the baseball field and watch them develop as athletes and people.  I also really enjoy taking a child who might struggle in sports and spend some time with them to try and develop their talents.  The best thing at the end of a game is to see them smile.

Little League, to me, is a safe environment where kids can come each week and learn valuable life lessons while playing a game that they love. They learn to respect those in authority over them; whether it is coaches, other parents, umps, etc. They learn the value of branching out and making new friends; to step out of their comfort zone. They learn the value of teamwork; that win or lose, their job is to encourage and lift up their teammates. They learn the value of discipline and hard work as they see its direct connection to their success. Little League has given much to my children over the years and I gladly contribute any talents I may have to the Little League Board so that others will continue to have positive experiences in the future.

I coach youth baseball to inspire a love of the game. Our job as a coach is to motivate youths and to focus on the fundamental teachings of proper play, teamwork and sportsmanship. Any person can coach a good player. I have seen many coaches discard a player that did not live up to a certain standard of excellence instead of taking the time to make them a better player. Some of my fondest memories are seeing a player get their first hit or their astonishment when I had them pitch in a game for the very first time. I coach youth baseball for the kids, not for my own glory. I volunteer to be on the RBLL Board to make our league better for the kids
