Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday Feb 3, 2010

The 2009 season has been officially wrapped up and except for a couple of bills to pay and the Annual General Meeting to attend for Softball Saskatchewan the Executive wish everyone a good off-season.

The first meeting of the 2010 season will be held on Feb 3, 2010 at the Callie Club so please have a representative attend as there will be lots to talk about and changes to be made before things get going next spring.

Friday, October 9

The minutes from the Wednesday meeting have been posted.

Friday, September 4
Okanese Braves are the 2009 Rambler Park League Champions

Lead by the 1 hit pitching of Dustin Keshane, the Okanese Braves completed the comeback from 2 games down to win three in a row and win the 2009 League Championship. The score in the final game was 2-0 for Okanese.

Congratulations to Okanese.

Friday, September 4
Okanese Ties Series

Okanese evened the series with a 9-2 victory.  Game 5 will be contested tonight at 6:30 p.m., at Rambler Park.

Tyler Walker gave the Braves a commanding lead in the fifth inning with a three-run home run. That was part of a three-hit, four RBI night for Walker. Derek Heisler hit a home run for Silver Screen.

Dustin Keshane was the winning pitcher, going six innings with seven strikeouts and only surrendering four hits. Wade Hebig was the losing pitcher.

Thursday, September 3
Okanese Stays Alive

The Okanese Braves have extended the series with a 6-1 victory over Silver Screen Sportswear last night.  Silver Screen leads the best-of-five series 2-1.

Terrell Walker hit a three-run home run in the second inning, capping off a five-run inning for the Braves. Travis Walker contributed to the Brave's cause by going 2-for-3 with a triple.

Dustin Keshane earned the pitching decision over Al Muhle. Keshane struck out 13 in seven innings, allowing four hits and one walk.

Wednesday, September 2
Silver Screen Takes 2-0 Series Lead

Silver Screen took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five League final on Tuesday with a 6-4 win over the Okanese Braves at Rambler Park.

Wade Hebig earned the win after holding the Braves to three runs in five innings before giving way to Al Muhle, who allowed one run in the final two innings to earn the save.

Terrell Walker did most of the damage for the Braves with a 3-for-4 night that included two doubles and a solo home run. Lonnie Griffin led Silver Screen with a double and two runs batted in.

Wednesday, August 26
Silverscreen advances to final against Okanese
Silverscreen advances to the best of five final against the Okanese Braves. The series will start Monday August 31 and be played on consecutive nights until a winner is declared.

Friday, August 21
Okanese wins semi-final against Supreme

Supreme could not field a team tonite (August 21) against Okanese for their 1st game of the semi-final series. This is their second default of the season as they also did not field a team on June 5 against Silverscreen.

As a result of the two defaults, their season is now over leaving Okanese to wait until the semi-final between Silverscreen and The Gold concludes next week.

Supreme will have to apply for re-instatement into the league at the February 2010 meeting.

Tuesday, August 18
Playoff schedule set to end of season

The playoff schedule has now been posted to the end of the season and barring rain it will be played as posted.

Semi finals will resume this Friday, August 21, with Okanese and Supreme playing Friday and Monday with game three on Tuesday (late) if necessary.

The Gold and Silverscreen will start Tuesday early and play Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. If it rains out any of the dates, then they will play the next night or when the diamond is fit.

The best of five final series is to start on Monday August 31 and will be played on successive nights until concluded.

Good Luck to all teams.

Friday, July 24
First week of playoff schedule posted

With only one game remaining to play in the regular season which will not effect the standings, the first week of playoffs and the matchups have been set. We will have to wait until Monday night to determine the 8th place team as there is a 1 game playoff between KMC and Cree Land to determine the 8th anf final playoff spot. The winner of that game will then play a series against Silverscreen which will start on Wednesday July 29.

All other series start next week as well.

The games after July 30th are not posted due to the park being shut down August 4th to prepare for Westerns which start on the 6th. We anticipate resuming playoffs Monday August 10th if possible.

Monday, July 20
Final week of regular schedule

The last few games of the 2009 schedule go this week with the final game being played Friday night between The Gold and Bulyea. The playoffs will start Monday July 27 with a one game playoff between #8 and #9 for the final playoff spot. The late game will be 2 VS 7 in game one of a best of three.

Tuesday will be game one of #3 VS #6 and #4 VS #5.

Details will be announced as soon as we can confirm the match ups.

Monday, July 6
Schedule to end of season set

The last group of games to take us to the end of the regular season have been posted to the web site. Keep in mind that the points for teams that were to play against The Rez have not yet been awarded. That will occur as the games come up in the schedule. You may see 3 games booked on some nights as a result but the Rez game should show TBA in the time slot.

No games are scheduled for the day after provincials but that may change if we lose two or three days this week to rain. Efforts will be made to try and not schedule anyone who has participated in the provincials for a Monday July 20 game.

If you have any questions regarding the schedule or the Hot Line saying one thing and the schedule saying another, contact someone to confirm and don't guess. Mistakes can happen and although we try to keep the schedule as accurate as possible and the Hot Line to match use the web site as the item that is most likely correct.

Thanx for your patience.

Thursday, June 18
Rained out games have been rescheduled

Any games that may have been rained out or which had to be rescheduled for any reason have now been moved to their new time and date. We will not start playoffs until after Provincials and I have tried not to have teams play an excessive amount of games in the final week or the regular season. However, some teams had more games than other to make up and could play a maximum of three games in the week ending July 10th.

If your team is one of those affected by these changes and absolutley cannot field a team then contact me and I will see what I can do. Teams scheduled for the day after the provincials will have to play or hand off points so plan accordingly.

Tuesday, June 2
Tuesday June 2 Moose Jaw Time Change
Game time for tonight's game in Moose Jaw, Muscowpetung vs. Canadians, has changed times from 7pm to 8pm due to umpire availability.

Friday, May 22
Schedule adjustments for Friday May 22 and Sunday May 24

Due to unforseen circumstances, we will not have sufficient umpires to do both games on Friday evening or the 10 a.m. game this coming Sunday. These games will be rescheduled to a later date along with the others that we have lost due to the weather.

The early game between Supreme and Cree Land will go as scheduled but the late game between Bulyea and The Rez will not.

Sunday's game between the Hawks and Silverscreen will also be rescheduled.

Friday, May 15
Friday May 15th Games postponed due to weather
Both games scheduled for this evening will be played at a later date due to the cold weather. The regular season will resume Tuesday May 19th with two games at Rambler and Silverscreen visiting Moose Jaw. Have a great long week-end everyone!

Wednesday, May 13
Wednesday May 13th games postponed due to weather
The two games scheduled for this eveing have been postponed and will be re-scheduled to a later date. Also games scheduled for tomorrow have been moved to Fridfay May 15th and as a result, the Rambler Park Fastball League will not be playing Thursday evening in addition to tonite.

Friday, May 8
Friday May 8th game has been rescheduled
The game for tonite is being rescheduled to a later date due to the cold weather. It will be played as the back half of a double header next Wednesday May 13 and will start at 8:30

Friday, May 8
Thursday May 14th game rescheduled
The Thursday May 14th game is now rescheduled to Friday May 15th and will be played at 8:30 as the back half of a double header. That game is between Gordon Hawks and Standing Buffalo Dakotas.

Wednesday, May 6
More schedule updated

The schedule to the end of May has now been posted. However I want to caution everyone that it is in "DRAFT" form and there will be changes.

We have some issues with games and too many games for certain teams at the end of the schedule which need to be worked out.

The Moose Jaw schedule is fairly accurate so you can start planning your road trips.

If any issues contact Harv asap at fastball@sasktel.net

Saturday, April 4
April 1st Meeting minutes are posted
The minutes from the League meeting of April 1st have now been posted to the web site.

Tuesday, August 26
Silverscreen up two games to one

After being beaten by The Hawks on Monday night to even the series at one game each, Silverscreen came back to win game 3 and go up a game in the best of five final.

Game 4 will go Wednesday night August 27 at 6:30.

Wednesday, August 27
Silverscreen wins in four and are 2008 League Champions

In a game they never lead, Silverscreen fought back from a 3 run deficit in the third inning to score 3 in the 6th to tie the game and another 1 in the 7th to win the game, the series and the 2008 Western Cycle Source for Sports League Championship for the very first time in their history.

The Hawks played like the first place team they were all year and kept battling all game. When they scored 1 run in three successive innings to start the game, it looked like they were going to even the series at two as Jeff Thomas was stingy as usual in not allowing any hits or runs.

Silverscreen then brought in Al Muhle and he shut the door as he pitched 4 scoreless innings to record the win.

This concludes the 2008 season with only a year-end meeting scheduled for next Wednesday Sept 3  at the Callie Club to finish our league business.

On behalf of myself and the Executive I would like to thank the players, the umpires, the announcers, our grounds crew and the Fans for making this an exciting year of balll at the park.

Tuesday, August 19
Bulyea eliminated in two

In a wild one tonite at Rambler, the Bulyea Rustlers fought back from an 11-1 deficit in the top of 5 to score 5 and extend the game but it was too much to overcome as they came up on the short end of a 12-7 score and ended their 2008 season.

The Western Cycle Source for Sports League will crown a new champion next week as we have two first time finalists in the Gordon Hawks who finished first in the regular season taking on the 4th place finishers, Silverscreen Sportswear.

The final starts on Thursday at 6:30 with games 2, 3 and 4 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week and game 5 being played next Friday if necessary.

This should be quite a match up as we will arguably see the top two pitchers in the League with Bo Thomas taking on Al Muhle. Come to the park and see who will prevail.

Thursday, August 21
Silverscreen start the final series with a win
Silverscreen won game 1 of the final series by a score of 2 - 1 Thursday evening. Games two, three and four are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. If a game 5 is needed it will be played next Friday.

Wednesday, August 13
Hawks sweep KMC and now wait for final round

With the win in Game 2 of their semi final series with KMC, the Gordon Hawks advance to next week's final against a yet to be determined opponent.

Bulyea and Silverscreen will square off on Monday night and play three in a row "if necessary" to determine who will face The Hawks in the final.

Should the Bulyea/Silverscreen series only last two games, then the winner will take Wednesday off and start the final on Thursday the 21st and play Thursday and Friday of next week and start over on the 25th until they are finished. However, should the semi final series go three games then teams will take next Thursday off and start the final on Friday the 22nd.

Of course, if we are rained out on any of the above dates, then we will just back up one day and continue with the schedule.

Thursday, August 7
Semi final playoff series are set

With the Hawks winning game 3 of their quarter final series against Okanese, the match ups are now confirmed for the next round of playoffs.

#1 Gordon's Hawks VS # 7 KMC Diamondbacks

#3 Bulyea Rustlers VS # 4 Silverscreen Sportswear

The Hawks and KMC will start Monday August 11 and play Monday, Wednesday and Thursday "if necessary".

The Bulyea/Silverscreen series will commence Monday August 18 and games are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday "if necessary". If someone sweeps the series then the final will commence on Thursday August 21.

Wednesday, August 6
Hawks and Okanese headed for game 3 Thursday night

The Okanese Braves scored 3 in the bottom of 7 to take game two of the best of three quarter final series tonite at Rambler Park. Game 3 of this series will go tomorrow night (Thursday August 7th) at 6:30. The winner will advance to the semi finals starting Monday August 11 and the loser will see their season end.

Note the start time of 6:30 for all remaining playoff games.

Tuesday, August 5
The Hawks and Okanese continue their series Wednesday while The Rez are out for the year

The Rez defaulted their 1st playoff game with Bulyea and had until tonite at 6:00 p.m. to state their intention to play tomorrow and also to pay their outstaning fine and league fees. They have not done so and therefore are suspended for the remainder of the playoffs and will have to apply for reinstatement in 2009.

The Hawks and Okanese will play game 2 tomorrow night Aug 6 and if Okanese wins, they will play Thursday night to determine a winner of their series.

If the Hawks win, they will draw KMC in the next round and that will start on Friday August 8th at 6:30.

Again, in this scenario, if the Hawsk sweep their series then the Rustlers and Silverscreen will play game 1 of therio series on Thursday night at 6:30 and will continue after the Rustlers return on August 18th.

The web site will be updated after tomorrow's game as we will then be able to set the dates and proceed from there.

Wednesday, August 12
Wednesday Games Cancelled due to Umpire Shortage

The game between the KMC Diamondbacks and Silver Screen Sportswear scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled due to an umpire shortage.  Game 2 of this series will recommence on Thursday August 13th at 6:30pm.  Game 3 if necessary will be played on Friday August 14th at 6:30pm.

Tuesday, September 1
Silver Screen Takes Game 1

Shane Graefer hit a walkoff home run in the seventh inning to give Silver Screen Sportswear a 5-2 victory over the Okanese Braves in Monday's opening game of the best of 5 series.

Braden Konschuh helped Silver Screen's cause by going 3-for-3. Nathan Stevenson went 2-for-3 for the Braves.

Al Muhle earned the pitching decision over Glen Geddes. Muhle struck out eight in seven innings, allowing four hits and no walks.
