  • Graduated from Binghamton High School and still currently lives there

  • Attended Cortland State University where he was a standout pitcher

  • 2001 Press&Sun Bulletin "Athlete Of The Year"

  • Drafted by the Detroit Tigers and played 4 years with them

  • Had a combined record of 19-1 during his last season at Cortland and into his first year playing for the Tigers, including 8-0 in pro ball

  • Mike is a third generation professional baseball player in his family, his grandfather "Dixie" Howell played for the Broklyn Dodgers and his father Louis Howell played in the Yankees organization including the Triple Cities Triplets
