RAB: RAB News: BLAST Welcome 2009-2010

As we celebrate our 18th year for the Ringette Association of Burlington, we are excited to launch our new brand – going forward we will be known as the Burlington BLAST! Such a milestone could not be accomplished without the work and help of many – thank you to everyone who voted for our new name at the Banquet in April and on-line, and thank you to the New Brand Committee who worked tirelessly this summer ensuring our new look and new jerseys will be ready for roll-out for the 2009-10 season. And on behalf of the organization, a big THANK YOU to Liana Howard of Howards Graphics who donated her time and expertise developing and revising several proposals for a logo.
This Fall players will be receiving a new orange jersey that will display our new logo, pay tribute to our RAB logo, and incorporate a new and exciting design. Teams have all received special garment bags to contain and maintain our new jerseys. We are looking to all teams to maintain their new jerseys in these garment bags to keep the life and look of them a long time.
We secured a Trillium Grant this season and are utilizing a good portion of these funds to invest in our coaches, starting with several Lisa Brown Coach Training Sessions hosted by NRL Player, Karen Dugay which started in mid September and ran into October, and held an informational Coaches Meeting hosted by VP, Marc Avaria to best prepare our new and returning coaches for the season.
I’d like to welcome returning and new players, executive members, referees, coaches and parents/guardians to the 2009-10 season. We are hosting 12 teams this year, and are excited to announce we signed up 15 new players at our Come Try Ringette event Sat Sept 19th at Appleby Arena, we will be adopting the new Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) approved by Ringette Canada Division Names, and we anticipate this will be an exciting and successful year for RAB. We encourage you to continually check out our webpage as regular updates are posted and the construction of our new look continues, and mark your calendars for the Bur Bear Tournament Jan 22nd-24th, 2010.
