RAB Receives Trillium Grant

The Ringette Association of Burlington (RAB) is pleased to announce that we have received a Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The grant will support the development of our organization and the long term growth strategy that our executive team has developed.

The priorities for the Grant include:

- Promoting physical activity for young girls
- Providing and environment that promotes team play
- Increasing our community diversity to reflect the community we live in
- Fostering volunteerism in our community
- Enhancing accessibility to the sport of Ringette for young women in our community

Historically, our association has raised funds by including a Fund Raising Fee in the annual registration for all players. In addition, revenues have been generated through various activities such as the Bur Bear raffle, the Hamilton Bull Dog games, and tag days. All of these monies can and are added to our general accounts to fund some of our annual operating expenses such as ice rentals and equipment purchases. However, the Trillium Grant funds must be treated differently and may only be used for the specific items that have been approved  in the Grant documents.

The Grant budget includes funds specifically approved for the following:

- Come Try Ringette Program
- Coach development and certifications
- Goalie gloves, blockers, sticks, and other equipment

We are very grateful for this Trillium Grant as it will provide the necessary resources needed to promote, develop, and enhance our association. Our long term strategic plan is focused on increasing our player base and retaining our existing membership.  By investing in our Come Try Ringette program and devoting additional resources to our coach development programs, we intend to attract new players, retain and develop our existing membership, and increase access to the sport of Ringette for our community.
