Welcome to VYS QUEST White U14 Travel Soccer Web Site

Quest White offers rising U14 girls a highly competitive yet fun atmosphere that emphasizes an individual and team developmental approach.  Quest White is one of three VYS teams, competing in the strongest league, WAGS and in the highest division of the three.  Quest White is proudly establishing itself as one of the premier soccer teams at this level.

 Coaching Philosophy

The coaching philosophy is based upon developing individual players with diverse skill sets into a team by introducing tactics and positioning.  This season will focus on accurate passing, moving to open spaces, using the entire field of play, set plays, and other offensive and defensive tactics of the game.   It is the responsibility of each player to continue to develop their own ball handling skills through increased touches on the ball outside of practice as well as to develop and maintain a high level of overall fitness.   Play time is earned by participation and hard work during practice each week.

Washington Area Girls Soccer (WAGS)

Quest White will play the 2009/2010 season in WAGS Division 3/4.   The maximum roster size is 18 players.  It is anticipated that Quest will have a roster size of 16 to maximize playing time.

Expected Schedule

The Quest White Fall soccer season will begin formally around mid-August.  Mandatory practices will be held up to 3 times per week for 90 – 180 minutes, with the third day on the weekend when we do not have a league match.  If you cannot make a scheduled practice, you are requested to contact the team manager and Coach by email or phone at least 2 days prior. The team is planning a mini-tournament/camp for August 17, 19, 21, 24, 26 from 5 – 8 pm (That will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Monday, Wednesday).  This preseason soccer camp will be built around training & playing games.  There would be 4 teams that are compatible in terms of level of play.  The teams will go through technical and tactical training as well as playing in a two-week long league / tournament (like World Cup).  In between these sessions we will coordinate social events for the girls. These social activities will be organized by parents and coordinated at a later time.  The costs will be between $100 and $175 per player. Quest White will play in two tournaments per season (typically a preseason and a midseason) during the fall and spring seasons. They also may travel to an away tournament.  The tournament selections will be a joint effort by the coaches, players, and parents.  The WAGS Fall game season will begin in early September and continue through early November.    Over the winter the team will train once a week (if indoor space is available) and participate in indoor games at the Fairfax Sportsplex.  The indoor season has two sessions and Quest will enroll two squads in each session as the fields are small and the games are played as 6x6.    The WAGS Spring game season will begin in early April and continue until early June.

Other Sports & Conflicts

Girls are still developing their soccer skills and commitment at U14; however dedication is required to build a strong team.  Quest White encourages off-season participation in other sports that develop skills, speed and overall athleticism and conditioning.  The expectation is that soccer will be the #1 sport during the soccer season in the Fall and the Spring.
