2010 Sandstorm Tournament in Palm Springs - January 16/17

Starz Lacrosse will be holding a tryout on December 12th for Elite Starz Players only, to form an All-Starz, all-star team, so-to-speak, for the 2010 Sandstorm Tournament in Palm Springs. More details to come.

Arrangements have already been made for all QC Starz Elite team members to have an opportunity to play for the Rancho Bernardo-based, "Team San Diego", at this same tournament (OPTIONAL).  Because this tournament is outside of the normal Starz Program, participation will require an additional registration fee ($200), regardless of whether participation will be through the All-Starz squad, or Team San Diego.   Girls interested in participating will need to contact the Team San Diego administrator, John Sieger, for additional information, shortly after the try-outs.  This is a highly touted, West Coast recruiting event that should be seriously considered by anyone hoping to play Lacrosse in College.

2009/2010 Winter Quad Cities Starz Lacrosse Club philosophy is to provide an enhanced level of coaching, instruction, education, and competition to players with a true passion for the game.  The QC girls coaching staff is comprised of coaches with NCAA playing experience and the same passion for the game that we seek in our players.  We take this common passion as a starting point and use it as the catalyst to develop a family atmosphere with the hope of fostering friendships that can last a lifetime.  By combining the best of talent and coaching, atmosphere and friendship, the Starz experience is sure to benefit the development of our young athletes and students.

*Comprised mostly of players from the Rancho Bernardo, Del Norte, Westview and Mt. Carmel High School areas (but all dynamite athletes are welcome!)

NOTE Poway, Ramona and Scripps Ranch area players are encouraged to register for the new SD Sharkz Starz program based out of Poway.

FAQs
What team/division am I eligible for?

Guide to understanding the teams/divisions:
1) Players are divided by grade (not age).

Elite & High School: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th graders
Middle School: 6th, 7th 8th graders

SUMMER SEASON = grade last completed
(The season runs mid June to early August.)

For example: Jane Doe just completed or will complete 8th grade in the spring. For the summer season, she is only eligible for the Middle School team NOT the Elite or High School team (see below for Elite/High School team). Once she enters 9th grade in the fall, then she may try out for Elite/High School teams and is no longer eligible for the Middle School team.

12th graders/Seniors: We ask that ONLY non-committed college bound 12th graders/Seniors tryout. Please no COMMITTED SENIORS. It is the goal of Starz/SD Rip to help in the college recruiting process and guide players to play beyond the high school level.

FALL/WINTER SEASON =
current grade
(The season run mid November --> mid January)

For example: Little Jane Doe (who played for the Middle School team in the summer) is now a freshman in high school and is only eligible to tryout for the Elite/High School teams.

2) Players are divided by skill level and playing abilities. There is a NO CUT policy for the Middle School and Youth teams - there is a spot for any girl who wants to try out.

Elite The Elite team will be comprised of the best 9th-12th grade girls that include, but are not limited highly skilled,
varsity all-stars. These girls have the ambition and drive to play college lacrosse.
High School The High School team is made up primarily of underclassmen that are working at becoming the best.
These players are developing to become part of the Elite team.
Middle School There is only one Middle School team with girls from 6th-8th grade who have great potential, are eager to learn
and love lacrosse. (No cuts will be made. Tryouts are for evaluation purposes only.)

How do I register for tryouts?

Can I register in person at the field (for tryouts or the season)?

No, ALL registration is completed online.  This includes both the tryout registration and the season fee registration.  No checks or cash accepted.  All waivers are signed online and information is kept confidential.

Do I need to print my waiver and bring it to tryouts?

No, there is no need to print a waiver or registration confirmation and bring it to check in. Once online registration is completed, it is instantly accessible to the directors via the internet.

How/When/Where do I check in for tryouts?

WHERE? A table/chair will be set up at the field for check in.
WHEN? Please arrive about 15 minutes prior to the start time to give ample about of time to check in.

However, the registration cost for the Adrenaline Shootout has been added to the season fee. Making it one simple registration. Also note, because the Starz and Adrenaline Shootout fee have been combined participants are avoiding the $25 processing fee for the 2008 Adrenaline Shootout.

What is a jamboree?

Jamborees consist of each team playing 2-3 round robin games aganst teams of similar skill level.

Typically all games are played at one location, on one date and have 2 - 25 minute running time halves, with a short half time. No team is name a jamboree champion. Players are required to wear their full uniform (jersey and short) and bring all of their equipment (stick, mouthguard, goggles or goalie gear).
