  PVPGSL Players, Coaches and Parents:

If you are looking for a new home for that old softball jersey, shorts, or pants, look no farther!  Bring your used softball clothing (freshly laundered) to Assessment Day (January 9, 2010) at Cornerstone.  It will be collected and donated to the Toberman Community Center in San Pedro where it will help provide uniforms for teams in need.

Hello Softballers,

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Girls Softball League is already hard at work towards another exciting season filled with fun, friends, fundamentals, and friendly competition.

We are getting our season started a little earlier, this year, so please check the calendar for skill assessment and clinic dates as we head towards Opening Day on February 20.

For those new to the league, we continue to make our home at Cornerstone Pedregal Elementary School.  We have 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions for girls ages 5-14.  We provide clinics, a regular season schedule (including playoffs for 8U-14U and all-league games to celebrate selected players from each team), an all-star program for 8U-14U, and a fall ball program.  As a recreational league, we promote ample playing time for all players in all divisions and strive to provide age-appropriate conditioning and skill development for every girl who wishes to play softball on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and surrounding communities, with increasing competition in the older divisions.

In preparation for our upcoming season, we have a strong schedule of player hitting and pitching clinics, lead by qualified professionals, which get started prior to Opening Day.  For managers and coaches, we continue to expand our training program to ensure that you have the tools and techniques you need to lead your team, run successful practices, and impart the right mix of skill development and fun.

For those who only emphasize one sport through the year, did you know that growing anecdotal evidence shows that playing more than one sport may reduce the risk of common female sports injuries such as ACL, growth plate, etc?  PVP Girls Softball is a great way to add another dimension to your daughter’s athletics as well as to meet new friends as she grows within the community towards middle school and beyond.

We look forward to seeing you, soon, on the softball field, and don’t forget … diamonds really are a girl’s best friend!

Sincerely,

Mark Silvestri, President, Palos Verdes Peninsula Girls Softball League
