DIVISIONS FOR THE FALL 2009 SEASON

 

Aaron Division

Non-competitive T-Ball for boys and girls who will be 4 or 5 years old on April 30, 2010.  Teams will be scheduled to play roughly 7-10 games in the Fall season.

The Aaron Division is named for Hank Aaron

 

  • Inducted into Hall of Fame in 1982
  • 1957 NL MVP
  • 3-time Gold Glove winner
  • 15-time All-Star
  • All-time MLB RBI leader (2297)
  • 3rd all-time in hits, tied for 4th in runs
  • Retired in 1977 with career home run record (755)

 

                  

Banks Division

Non-competitive Coach-toss division for boys and girls who will be 5 or 6 years old on April 30, 2010, and who qualify based on their scores from skill assessments.  This division will use normal baseball rules with regard to recording outs on the bases, there will be no strikeouts and no walks (the ball will be placed on the tee if not put in play within 3 pitches), and score will NOT be kept.  Teams will be scheduled to play roughly 7-10 games in the Fall season.

  • Inducted into Hall of Fame in 1977
  • First ever back-to-back NL MVP (1958 & 1959)
  • 1960 Gold Glove winner
  • 11-time All-Star
  • Retired in 1971 with career record for most home runs by a shortstop

 

Clemente Division

For players who will be 6-9 years old on April 30, 2010 (6-year-olds must have a minimum of one season of T-Ball experience).  This division will use Coaches for pitching, score will be kept, teams will be scheduled to play roughly 7-10 games in the Fall season, and the division will have a post-season tournament.

The Clemente Division is named for Roberto Clemente

  • Inducted into Hall of Fame in 1973
  • 1966 NL MVP, 1971 World Series MVP
  • Won 12 consecutive Gold Glove awards
  • Four-time NL batting champion
  • Recorded 3,000th hit in final game of 1972; killed in plane crash while attempting to deliver relief supplies to earthquake victims on New Year's Eve, 1972
 

 

DiMaggio Division

For players who will be 6-9 years old on April 30, 2010.  This division will use both Coaches and players for pitching, and should be roughly equivalent to last Fall's Hybrid division.  Score will be kept, teams will be scheduled to play roughly 7-10 games in the Fall season, and the division will have a post-season tournament.

  • Inducted into Hall of Fame in 1955
  • AL MVP 1939, 1941 & 1946
  • Two-time AL batting champ
  • Member of 9 World Series Champions
  • .325 lifetime average, 361 career home runs, 1537 RBI
  • MLB record 56-game hitting streak in 1941

 

Eckersley Division

For players who will be 9-11 years old on April 30, 2010.  This division should be something like a cross between the Silver and Gold divisions, and may use a limited amount of Coach-pitch early in the season.  Score will be kept, teams will be scheduled to play roughly 7-10 games in the Fall season, and the division will have a post-season tournament.

The Eckersley Division is named for Dennis Eckersley

  • Inducted into Hall of Fame in 2004
  • AL MVP and Cy Young Award winner in 1992 
  • 197 wins, 390 saves
  • Only pitcher in MLB history with 100 saves and 100 complete games

 

Feller Division

For players who will be 9-11 years old on April 30, 2010.  Teams will be scheduled to play roughly 7-10 games in the Fall season, and will travel to, and play interleague games against, other Leagues in the area.  The division will also have a post-season tournament.

The Feller Division is named for Bob Feller

  • Inducted into Hall of Fame in 1962
  • Led AL in strikeouts 7 times
  • Threw 3 no-hitters and 12 one-hitters (both MLB career records when he retired)
  • 266 career wins, even while sacrificing almost four full seasons to serve in World War II
 

 

Majors Division

Generally for players who will be 11 or 12 years old on April 30, 2010.  Teams will be scheduled to play roughly 7-10 games in the Fall season, and will travel to, and play interleague games against, other Leagues in the area.  The division will also have a post-season tournament.

Generally for players who will be 13 or 14 years old on April 30, 2010.  Teams will be scheduled to play roughly 7-10 games in the Fall season, and will travel to, and play interleague games against, other Leagues in the area.  The division plays on a regulation-size field (90' basepaths, 60'6" pitching rubber) and will have a post-season tournament.
