Some History of Port St Lucie Athletic Association, Inc.

The original football teams in Port St Lucie were sponsored by the Optimist Club of Port St Lucie.  Our youth played football under this Civic Organization until 1979.  These 3 teams played in a Community League including Jensen Beach, Stuart, Palm City, Port Salerno, Hobe Sound, and Indiantown.

On July 18, 1979, Port St. Lucie Athletic Association, Inc. was incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida.  Port St Lucie continued to play in the Community League.

Teams played football on field #4 at Sportsman Park.

During the fall of 1984, a group of citizens in St Lucie County came together to build a new football field complex seperate from baseball fields in Port St Lucie.  The new non-profit corporation was called SPORTSMAN PARK WEST PROJECT, INC. and was incorporated in February 1985.

Sportspark West Football fields were opened in the fall of 1986??

This is the beginning of our story.  Please help me with any facts you can share.
