ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL????

2006 ARENA FOOTBALL

There will be a mandatory coaches meeting from 6-9 PM on April 23 on the 2nd floor at PSA. We will be reviewing offense & defense formations and strategies, coaching techniques, practice schedules, weigh in schedule, game schedule, jersey colors, review of the rules and other topics. During this meeting between 7-8, members of the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff will be joining us with coaching tips and recommended drills.

A member of each team’s coaching staff must be in attendance. Multiple coaches from the same team are welcome.

SPRING FLAG LEAGUE MOVES TO VALLEY RANCH!

The games scheduled for Saturday April 22 will be played indoors at the Dallas Cowboys practice field. The Cowboys indoor field is located at their Valley Ranch Complex on Valley Ranch Rd off of McArthur. The best way to get there from Plano is the N Dallas Tollway to 35 N to 121 West/South towards FT Worth. Turn Left on McArthur. Turn Left on Valley Ranch Rd. You will see the complex from McArthur. We are playing the big White building. From the entrance bear to your left and park by the white building. You also come west on 635 exit McArthur and turn right on Valley Ranch.

This will be an exciting event for the kids. Rowdy the Desperados mascot and some of the Cowboys Cheerleaders will be on hand for a good part of the day.

There have been some modifications to the schedule on the 23rd of April involving the 2nd/3rd Grade league. Please consult the web site.

Flag League 2nd/3rd Grade and 4th/5th Grade Tiebreak Process – In these leagues there will be a one game Championship game scheduled on Sunday April 30. If there is a tie for these spots the tiebreak process is as follows:

1.Head to head games

2.Point differential between the effected teams We use a maximum per game differential of 8 points.

3.Coin Flip between the coaches.

Examples

A two way tie between team A&B with both teams winning one game. Team A won 24 -0 and Team B won 16-8. In this case there would be a coin flip because the point differential in these two games was both 8. Let’s say Team B won 16-14. Then team A wins the tiebreaker because their point differential would be +6 (+8 & -2)

A three way tie between teams A,B &C. Team A beat team B twice but lost to team C twice. Team B Beat C twice but lost to A twice, Team C beat A twice but lost to B twice. It would then go to the point differentials in those games. And the team with the highest point differential wins. If there is still a tie then it is a coin flip.

Arena Football team registration is only $1600 per team. Reserve your spot with a $300 deposit. Teams in on a first come basis. We have room for 30 teams in leagues for 2nd - 7th Grade.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!

Plano Sports Authority’s Football Program offers youths in the area with a fun environment to participate in youth football. We operate three different leagues providing access for kids to play football on a year round basis.

The fall program has over 1100 participants ranging from Pre Kindergarten through the 6th Grade. The program has separate leagues for each grade ensuring a competitive and safe venue for the kids to learn the proper way to play football. There are flag leagues for the Pre K to 1st Grade which introduces and teaches the kids the basics of football. In 2005 there were 22 teams in the flag leagues and the enthusiasm of the players, coaches and parents were contagious. The tackle leagues start in the 2nd grade and have a separate league for each grade through the 6th grade. Each league has a maximum ball carry weight to ensure safety and competitiveness. All kids, regardless of weight are eligible to participate. In 2005 there were 43 teams in the five leagues. Each league has a Super Bowl and all teams make the play-offs. The Super Bowl was played at Clark Stadium and the kids all had a great time.

PSA was the first organization in the country to offer youth Arena Football providing an indoor venue for kids to sharpen their skills and have fun in the summer. In three years the participation level has grown to over 300 kids on 30 teams in grades 2 through 7.

In 2005, PSA Football launched it’s inaugural season of Flag Football with 6 teams competing in a 100% passing league. The participants were from the 6th & 7th grades and it provided an excellent opportunity to sharpen passing, receiving and pass defense skills preparing those players for middle school and high school careers. In 2006, we have expanded the league to include teams form grades 2-8. It is a great opportunity to help kids continue to work on fundamentals while having fun.

The high quality of our program is largely due to the tremendous number of volunteers that dedicate their time and effort to working with the kids as coaches, league officials, team managers and spectators. The program is continuing to grow and we look forward to the 2006 season.

Thank You

As we begin our 26th year, we will add more new faces to the roster and to the coaching staff. The one thing that has remained the same over the past seasons is the COMMUNITY and the SUPPORT that it has given to the PLANO SPORTS AUTHORITY. So we would like to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU to the FANS, SPONSERS and the FAMILIES that have helped to make this possible. The players, coaches and staff are dedicated to bringing CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PLAYING to PSA. We hope that you enjoy our website and check back often for updated news!!!!
