WEBSITE MAINTENANCE NOTE - PHOTO ALBUMS: Our website provider, eteamz, has rolled out a new system for uploading photos and photo albums. Eteamz has ended its association with Shutterfly, a photo storage service, so the albums added to our site from 2007-2009 via "Shutterfly" can only be accessed by clicking on the Shutterfly icon at the bottom of the Albums page. Parents will now be able to upload photo albums directly to our site, but available storage space will no longer be unlimited, as it was with Shutterfly. PRLL.org reserves the right to modify or delete any uploaded albums.

The families and volunteers of Pearl River Little League extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Chance Cosgrove. He enriched our lives, and his memory will be cherished. PRLL is exploring appropriate ways to remember Chance during the 2010 season.

ATTENTION PARENTS: During the winter months, preparations for the 2010 season are made. This includes selection of managers and coaches for teams at all age levels. We urge parents to become involved, but not all have the time or background to coach a team. We would, however, like your input as parents when managers or coaches are selected. For this purpose, a Manager Evaluation Form is available, and we urge all parents whose children played in 2009 to fill out a form. From time to time, we hear oral complaints about a coach or manager, but nothing in writing is submitted. These evaluation forms have been under-utilized by parents in the past. Most of the forms submitted have been positive, and these are needed and appreciated, and it is true that positive evaluation forms can overcome a single negative form, depending upon circumstances (most evaluations being based on personal opinion). A manager or coach plays an important role in the child's recreational experience. If you know of a reason why an individual should not occupy such a position, it is incumbent upon you to submit an evaluation with the reasons. On occasion, we have heard an unfounded fear that a negative evaluation will somehow be detrimental to a child during the upcoming season. Such a fear is totally unfounded, as the evaluations are viewed only by the League President and Vice-Presidents of Baseball and Softball. They are then destroyed.
Please assist us in the selection of managers and coaches by downloading and completing the evaluation form, and mailing it to "President, PRLL, P.O. Box 125, Pearl River, N.Y. 10965". Please write in the lower right hand corner of the envelope: "Confidential: E/F" (i.e., "evaluation form").

PLEASE VOLUNTEER !!
In 1953-54, the Pearl River Little League commenced operations, with a mission of providing neighborhood boys, ages 8-12, a chance to play organized baseball. Over 50 years later, that small league has grown to an organization with roughly 1000 young players, ages 6-16, girls and boys, playing baseball and softball. The physical growth, especially in recent years, is readily visible. Anderson Fields, the home of Pearl River Little League, with the support of our landlord and host, the American Legion, now accommodates 7 playing fields, 2 of which are lighted. Our Senior Divisions now play at parks all over Rockland County.
Less visible, but just as important, is the pure human effort required to keep pace with this physical growth. The League in 1953 could be run with a few volunteers. Today, volunteers still operate all aspects of the League, but it seems we never have enough people to do everything required. Parents are busier than ever in the workforce, and have less free time. Yet, if we are to continue to give our children the recreational opportunities they have had in the past, the effort has to come from somewhere, or more precisely, someone. Many are timid about coming forward, or think their help is not needed. Such hesitation costs our children in the long run.
The League does not generate a profit. Registration fees, high enough already, do not cover the cost of operations. The kitchen helps a great deal in bridging the gap (which is why we have a problem when parents do not show up for their kitchen assignments). A fund-raising push in the last decade, and, more recently, the addition of Fall Ball, have helped us improve the facilities, erect the lights, and add fields, but fund-raising sources are increasingly limited. On a daily basis, it is human resources that we need. Your children will appreciate anything you can do. Thank you.
