Princeton Girls Softball: Welcome
Princeton Girls Softball offers recreational softball programs for girls from the ages of 5-15 who live in Princeton Borough and Township. We are committed to making our program both enjoyable as well as instructional. The teaching of softball fundamentals along with good sportsmanship is stressed.
Your feedback on our website is welcome. Please send your comments to webmaster@princetonsoftball.org.
In the event of rain, please call the Princeton Recreation Department at (609) 688-2054 after 4PM for any last-minute cancellation notices.
PGS is made possible through the generosity of our sponsors. Please let them know you appreciate their support!
Next spring we will again sponsor competitive "travel" teams for girls softball (the Princeton Pride teams). As those of you who participated this year know, our definition of travel is pretty narrow -- occasional tournaments against other towns within 30 minutes or so of Princeton.
There will be two teams again next year: 12U and 14U. Girls born in 1996 and 1997 are eligible for 12U, and girls born in 1994 and 1995 are eligible for 14U. There will be one of each team, and the teams will be limited to 14 girls each. Depending on interest, not everyone who applies may end up on the team.
During the winter, we will hold Saturday afternoon indoor practices for all who are interested. We tried this last winter for the first time and found the girls made significant improvement during the winter and were ready to play in the spring. These practices will be in January and February.
Note that this program is in addition to the regular recreation league program and school ball. We expect that everyone participating on the Princeton Pride will also be in the rec league, and we manage the schedule accordingly so as not to overwhelm the girls (or parents!).
Wednesday, October 22, we will have a one hour meeting for those interested in the Princeton Pride at the Princeton Recreation Building -- Lower Room at 6:30PM (located next to the Princeton Township Building). At the meeting we will cover the following:
- Commitment for the 2009 year
- Potential Tournament schedule
- Potential Winter Training Program
- Equipment needs
- Costs
