Wednesday, August 6 Fall Ball Registration Open Welcome to the Fall 2008 Princeton Little League season. The fall is a relaxed season, giving players a chance to adjust to new situations and positions as well as to continue to work on existing skills. As always, PLL is focused on teamwork, respect and effort, and not winning. All teams will begin the fall season Saturday Sept. 13th. Uniforms will be distributed as soon as they arrive from the manufacturer. This may not be until the week of 9/22. Please have your players arrive 30 minutes before game time this Saturday and dressed in baseball, pants, rubber cleats, and a hat, unless your coach requests you meet earlier. Practices in the fall are not encouraged, but can be held at the coach’s discretion.
A- Coach Pitch 7 years or under on April 30th 2009 AA – Player Pitch 7 years – 9 years on April 30th 2009 AAA – Player Pitch 10 years to 12 years on April 30th 2009
Your children because of their age (7 years on 4/30/2009, the Little league date to calculate player age) have the option of playing in the A division coach pitch or the AA division that is player pitch and coach pitch. I would suggest that players with a season or two experience play in the AA and that most new players and those who are still somewhat shy around the baseball Please realize that the fall season is an instructional season and as such played under unique fall rules. These rules are available under the Forms link and below. The rainout number is 688-2054. The fields are deemed playable by The Princeton Recreation Department. PLL is not empowered to make the judgment as to whether the fields are playable. Have a great season! Wednesday, April 5 Wet Fields and Rainouts- What To Do Wet Field Guidelines Here are some general guidelines about wet field conditions. Monday through Friday, the Recreation Department makes the call on whether games are played. They have a hotline that you can call after 4:00 pm: 688-2054. Sometimes there is rain after 4:00PM and the coaches and umpires together make the call on field conditions at 6:00PM. On Saturdays, the coaches and umpires make the call at the scheduled game time, e.g., 9:00AM. Sometimes on Saturdays, the 9:00AM games have to be cancelled, but all other games can be played because if it is not raining, field conditions generally improve as the day goes on. We generally do not play when there is standing water in the infield base paths. However, coaches may attempt to rake out the water and put infield mix on the wet spots. When raking water on the infield, DO NOT PUSH THE WATER ON TO THE GRASS ANYWHERE. Pushing the water on to the grass causes damage to the field. It should never be done. If there is a large puddle, the only thing that can be done is to rake the water onto another section of the infield dirt or mix (NOT THE GRASS). If there are soft muddy conditions, coaches or a volunteer parent recruited by the coach, should rake the section of the infield between innings. Also, between games on Saturdays, coaches and volunteer parents should rake and drag the infield, batters box and pitchers mound areas. If there is no standing water in the infield, we will play the game. Call 688-2054 after 4:00PM to see if the games will be played. |
