In Memory of Beth Bonner
Who is Beth Bonner you might ask?

Born and raised in Preston County, she was the world-record holder in the women's marathon in 1971. She set the record at the Philadelphia Marathon when she ran 3:01:41. She is also regarded by most in the running community as the first woman to break the three hour mark when she ran 2:55.22 at the 1971 New York City Marathon. Both of these accomplishments occurred when she was 19 years old. Beth died in a biking accident in 1998.

Beth's nephew, Travis Bonner, has constructed a website in her honor. Travis is a freshman at Preston High and plans on running for the Knights this spring in track. Please click on this link to learn more about Preston County's own, Beth Bonner.
