Statecup Schedule and information
StateCup Hotline for weather
As you know that always presents problems with our State Cup games especially since we have many teams traveling several hours to a game.
The process the Cup Chairmen follow is this:
1. We check all weather hotlines for individual fields and county facilities. Most closings and other information are posted by 7:30 in the morning.
2. We post all information on the VYSA website and we update the VYSA Hotline as closings come in. If the field you are playing on is not listed as closed, please go to your game.
Hotline number is 703-221-4777. Ignore instructions and immediately reenter the phone number and the message will begin. Don't give this number to all of your parents as it will tie the line up if over 600 people try to call the number and the coaches and managers can't get through.
3. If a field does not close in the morning and we begin play we will hope that it continues the whole day. Sometimes that is not the case and the field maintenance people close during the day or the Referee will call the game because the field becomes unplayable. In this case if a field closes during a game, the game in progress will be replayed in it's entirety and all travel to this field even if no game was played will be rescheduled. Teams do not lose their home field advantage because of weather or travel related problems. This #3 scenario is of course the hardest to predict. We will do our very best not to let this happen, but sometimes we have no control of the field or the weather during the day.
If you are planning to leave your home before 7:30 or 8:00 am, take the hotline phone number and your Cup Chairman's phone number and make sure that you can communicate with all of the others on your team who are on the road too. That way if you find out a field is closed after you have left home, your team may not have to make the whole trip.
The best thing to do is wait to see about the status of the field before you leave home.
We will update everything as soon as possible. We will need to have the cell phone numbers of the Point of Contact for the team, so if you are traveling tomorrow and you are the POC and we don't have your cell number, please send it to the relevant Cup Chairmen, Fred Mittelman if girls and Bill Cunningham if boys.
