After seven games over four days playing some of the best teams in the country, the ATSC Premier 92 boys U16 soccer team won the Score Showcase & Soccer Tournament 2009 held in Greensboro, NC on July 18-21. The team finished first in the 28 team pool play with a 2-1 record and entered the championship elimination round of 16. In the round of 16, they defeated the New Hampshire state cup champion Seacoast United Premier 2-0. In the quarter finals they defeated the North Carolina state cup champion Triangle FC 92 Navy 2-1 (PK). In the semi finals they defeated the Tennessee state cup champion Knoxville FC Blue 92 Crush 1-0 and in the finals they defeated the Dixie Super Nova team from Ontario, Canada 2-0. The Premier 92 ended the four day tournament with a Championship best 6-1 record which included five shutouts against some of the nations strongest club soccer programs and allowed a tournament low of only three goals in seven games. The Score Showcase & Soccer Tournament 2009 is the first of multiple college showcases ATSC Premier 92 is attending this 2009-2010 year opening the door for college level play. At the Score Showcase & Soccer Tournament 2009 there was about 50 college coaches attending the ATSC Premier 92 games and already yielded college coach queries.
The ATSC Premier 92 U16 is professionally coached by Arlington Travel Soccer Club Girl’s Coach of the Year Tom Torres.

ATSC Premier 92 finishes strong in the 2009 Region I Colonial League with a very close 2nd place finish. Their record of 5 wins, 0 losses, and 2 ties showed excellent performances by all Premier 92 players. “We are extremely proud of the group. With the demands of high school schedules and injuries the group persevered and solidified their standing among the top groups in the age group. “ said Coach Torres, Premier 92 coach. Prior to the season 3 players had suffered injuries that had kept them out for the 2009 Region I season. Premier 92 is currently ranking is: National 69; Region 19; and State 2

The ATSC Premier 92 U-16 boys finished the 2009 Potomac Memorial - Premier Elite Tournament as a semi-finalist. This tournament offers the highest level of completion and Premier 92 is the only DC area team to advance to the semi-finalist round. They advanced to the semi-finalist round after winning their first two games. Premier 92 beat the Ottawa Fury SC 1-0 in the first game. The Hicksville Strikers, who Premier 92 beat 1-0 in the second game on Saturday, are the 5th ranked team in Region 1 and 22nd nationally. This spring the Hicksville Strikers won the Region 1 Premier League North Division and then won their semifinal and finals playoff game to capture the Premier League Championship. Premier 92 played in the Region 1 Colonial League; the Premier League is the top level in Region 1. The last game Premier 92 tied the Bethesda Arsenal 0-0.
The semi-final game Premier 92 lost to Triangle FC 92 Navy 0-1 in a hard fought game. The Triangle FC 92 Navy team is the 21st ranked team nationally and the current North Carolina State Cup champion. The Triangle FC 92 Navy eventually won the 2009 Potomac Memorial tournament by beating the HBC Rockets 4-0.Congratulations to Coach Tom Torres and the entire Premier 92 team for a very successful Memorial Day weekend.

The Northern Virginia Football Club (NOVA FC) announced today that Tom Torres, the current club Director of Coaching, will serve as head coach for the USL Premier Development League (PDL) Royals for the 2009 season. Torres assumes the head coaching spot vacated by John Pascarella, who departed this week for an MLS position as the Kansas City Wizards goalkeeping and conditioning coach.
