Lakeland Predators Freestyle and Greco-Roman Club: Welcome

The Lakeland Predators Freestyle/Greco Club would like to congratulate everyone on a successful year. Their success this past year was not a fluke and was earned last spring & summer. Practice will be starting Thursday March 8th, 2012 and will run through Thursday June 7th, 2012, so come and practice with the Lakeland Predators Freestyle/Greco Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm-8pm at Antioch Community High School.

At the Junior and Cadet level we had 8 National Qualifiers:

• Zach Keller - Cadet Greco @Fargo
• Nick Koch - Cadet Freestyle & Greco @ Fargo (Also the Greco State Champ)
• Levi Smith - Cadet Greco @ Fargo
• Jeremy Brazil - Junior Freestyle & Greco @ Fargo (Also the Freestyle State Champ)
• Tyler Booth - Junior Greco @ Fargo
• Zack Freundt - Junior Greco @ Fargo
• George Gonzalez - Junior Greco @ Fargo
• Jimmy Prince - Junior Greco @ Fargo

We had 2 Schoolboy & 1 Intermediate Placewinners in Freestyle:

• George Bessette - 4th Place
• Jared Smith - 4th Place
• Devin Nobiling - 3rd Place

We had 2 Schoolboy Placewinners in Greco:

• George Bessette - 4th Place
• Maximillian Hill - 6th Place

We also had 5 IKWF & 1 IESA State Qualifiers in 2011. 2 went on to Place in State, while 3 others went on to win State:

• George Bessette-IKWF Novice State Champ
• Jared Smith-IKWF Novice State Champ
• Levis Smith-IKWF Senior
• A wrestler who asked to have his name withheld-IKWF Novice 7th Place
• Max Hill-IKWF Novice 5th Place
• Lowden Strohman-IESA State Champ

On top of that, 10 Predators qualified for the IHSA State Tournament, a State Champ, and the Antioch Sequoits were 4th in 2A for the IHSA Dual Team Tournament:

Congratulations to the Lakeland Predators Freestyle/Greco Club members this past week. There were a total of 10 Lakeland Predators who competed at the IHSA Individual State Tournament last weekend, & Jeremy Brazil became the first Lakeland Predator to win an IHSA State Championship.  Jeremy won his 2A final match in OT 4-2, after placing 2nd in 2011. Antioch Community High School, our Host School and the majority of our team, has qualified for the IHSA Dual Team State Tournament in 2A & placed 4th. This is the only the second IHSA Boys trophy in school history. IHSA Individual State Tournament qualifiers:

Print out the USA Wrestling Competitors Card, if you need one, and a Predators Registration Form and have them filled out with a check for both fees made payable to Chris Haag. The USA Wrestling Card fee is $40 and the Predators fee is $150 for High School Wrestlers and $100 for Middle School Wrestlers. If you registered for the USA Wrestling Card online, then we need the Card number for liability reasons. Let's have a great Freestyle and Greco season. USA Wrestling cards can also be purchased & printed from http://www.usawmembership.com/, & make sure you enter Lakeland Predators as your club. Please have this completed before the first day of practice if you plan on going this route.
