Draw Down and Hit a Thon a Success

The first annual Pearl River baseball Hit a Thon was a big success despite the weather. On Saturday, we were still able to have the Hit a Thon and $1000 draw down to help raise money for the Wildcat baseball team. Mike Desoto and Mark Magee were the big winners in the draw down. The Wildcat baseball team was able to raise a good amount of money from both events. We really appreciate the help and support from the Wildcat family in helping us throughout this event.

Wildcats get underway

Pearl River started their fall workouts last week.  We begin playing on Friday at Jackson St. at one o'clock.  The Wildcats have looked good so far in their first week of workouts.  Along with the returning fifteen guys, the Cats added some new faces that will be contributors this year.  Three pitchers Jared Ashford from Baton Rouge, Patrick Daugherty from West Lauderdale, transferring from Southern Miss and Kye Wilson from Monroe, La, transferring from Louisiana Monroe are three pitchers that have a chance to make a big impact.  Jake Hawkins from Sumrall who had signed with Southern Miss will also be a good addition for the Cats.  With the signing class we had and these four new guys, the incoming guys will be a good mix with the nucleus we had coming back.

On the coaching side, Pearl River added two new assistant coaches.  Jeff Long will help with the infielders and hitters comes to us after a three year stint at William Carey University.  He will be a big help because of the college coaching experience that he has.  Kyle Logan from Oak Grove is another big addition.  Kyle has played the past 7 years in pro ball with the Houston Astros and will help out with our outfielders.  He also is a recent inductee to the University of Southern Miss Hall of Fame.

We are looking forward to this year after coming off a good year last year with the returnees and the signees that we have.

Wednesday, May 28
Kyle Lindsey All American

Kyle Lindsey, the Wildcat ace this past year has been named to the First Team All American list.  Kyle finished with an 11-1 record and had a 1.80 ERA.  He struck out 106 and walked just 25 in 97.1 innings.  Kyle joins former Wildcats Rhyne Hughes,  Craig Rodriguez, and Jake Smith as All Americans in the most recent years.  He will attend Southern Miss to continue his playing career.

Wildcats Sophmores Moving On

The Pearl River sophmore class has pretty much finshed their decisions on moving on to the next level.  Kyle Lindsey and Nick Smith will become Golden Eagles as they both have decided to go to Southern Miss to continue their playing careers.  Tyler Watkins and Cory Jordan will join former Wildcat head coach Jay Artigues and will go to Southeastern Louisiana.  Zach Tisdale is headed to Nicholls State to finish his playing career.  The only Wildcat that has not signed is catcher Michael Diaz who is waiting on the draft June 7th where he hopes his named will be called.  This sophmore class was very deserving of each signing with a Division I school and continuing to play.
