The Schedule for This Weeks Practice

Wrestlers,
The PRAA Rec. season is officially over, and we had a tremendous year!  However, there are still many wrestlers who will be going on to a State Qualifier this Sunday at Fair Lawn, wrestlers attending the Mahwah Novice Tournament on Saturday the 7th, and still others going on to the States in the middle of the month.  Good Luck to each of you!
Each of you may want to continue to have some type of conditioning from now until your next event.  I would highly recommend considering going to The Club in town.  Dominick runs a great program and knows many of our wrestlers.  The Club is open from Sundays to Thursdays, closed Friday and Saturday.  The Club has sessions for Younger wrestlers, Older wrestler, and High School level wrestlers each day they are open.  In addition they offer private lessons if interested.  Please contact Dominick at 609-271-3317, this is his cell phone number.  He can discuss the cost and specifics relating to the schedule.
If you need more information on the Mahwah Novice Tournament please let me know.  This event is open to all ages of wrestlers.
Thanks,
Scott

Wrestling House Keeping Items

Hello Wrestlers,
I wanted to review a few items regarding fitness and hygiene.
First let's address the mats we wrestle on.   Each night the mats are and will always be completely sanitized making sure the wrestlers are practicing on cleansed mats.  Because mat care is so important, we want to stress the importance that no wrestler, coach, or parent will be walking on these mats with any type of street shoes.
Wrestlers hydration:  It is important that all wrestlers bring plenty of water to practice in water bottles labeled with their name.  We don't want the wrestlers drinking from the wrong water bottles and sharing any germs.  The boys have a number of water breaks during the practice.  The coaches make sure they are hydrated.
The wrestling room has a First Aid kit on hand at all times.  The kit is stocked with all the necessary and required items to attend to minor scratches and bruises.
We require all wrestlers to be sure their finger nails are kept short.  Wrestling is an aggressive sport and wrestlers use their fingers and hands in an offensive and defensive manor.  Long finger nails can scratch.  If we find they are too long, we have a pair of clippers in our first aid kit and we will clip the wrestlers finger nails.
It is recommended that hair length be somewhat appropriate, however there is no ruling on length of hair.  Over the years, I have witness wrestlers with very long hair.  In my observation it often impacts the wrestlers ability to focus on the match.
Please keep in mind that when the wrestlers leave practice they just completed a very hard workout, working up a sweat.  It is important with the cold temperatures outside to make sure the wrestlers pack something warm to wear when leaving the wrestling room.
Lastly, we strongly encourage all wrestlers to immediately shower upon returning home from practice or matches.  Not only is it good hygiene, but it is important due to heavy contact during wrestling.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Scott
