Power Surge 16U: News
The Power Surge Softball Organization began in May, 1992. The first team was a 14U team that wanted more than Rec Ball had to offer. This team did so well that those on the team decided to form an organization so more players could experience Travel Ball.
The Fall of 1992 Power Surge was up to three teams, a 12's, 14's, and 16's. The success of these teams and the organization attracted families from all over San Diego to our Power Surge organization.
Power Surge incorporated into a non-profit organization after the 1992 season making it a full-fledged organization. The primary goal of the organization is to develop competitive softball players who can perform at the highest level while enjoying a healthy, athletic environment. Another important goal is to give our high school girls a chance to be seen by college recruiters and earn an athletic scholarship. Our 18 Gold team is in all the top College Showcase tournaments.
The Power Surge organization has had many outstanding accomplishments over the years. Winning many tournaments and qualifying for many Nationals. Our girls and their parents have traveled all over the country from Hawaii to New York competing for Power Surge.
We hope that if you are reading this you have some interest in joining our organization either as a player and her family, or as a supporter. Power Surge provides a top softball climate with our excellent coaching staff and fantastic softball only facility of 4 softball only fields, batting cages, and a pitching facility.
If interested in our organization please contact Scott Berndes at berndess@aol.com.

Power Surge 94 Plays Strong at Western Nationals
Power Surge 94 spent the week in Mount Vernon, Washington, July 26 through August 2 for the ASA 14U Western Nationals. The team faced some tough competition and proved they were out to win. There was record heat in northern Washington through out the week.
We played two practice games and two pool play games early in the week. Those games, in combination with several practices at the Indoor Sportsplex, readied the team to start bracket play with a solid win Thursday afternoon against the Washington Blaze.
On Friday morning, the team bounced back from an 11-0 deficit in the top of the first to win against the Oregon Panthers. After that long and tough game on Friday morning, we failed to produce offense on Friday afternoon against the Rawlings Rebels and dropped down to the losers bracket.
Saturday morning, we faced the Concord Lady Hawks, a team that beat us earlier in the week. Power Surge rallied hard to defeat the Lady Hawks, knocking them out of the tournament, and keeping our hopes alive. Unfortunately, the next game was our last and we ended the week on Saturday afternoon knowing we had played hard all week and finished a strong 13th out of 78 teams at Western Nationals.
It was a great week of softball for the players and their families.

Saturday, February 14
San Diego International Cup
On February 14 & 15, Power Surge hosted the Calgary Diamond Devils for a weekend of softball. The Diamond Devils brought 4 teams, 16U, 14U, 12U and 10U, from Calgary to Southern California. Unfortunately, due to rain in San Diego, the games were moved from Hickman Field to Mt Acadia Park on Saturday, and East County ASA on Sunday.
On Saturday, Power Surge 94 played three games against the Diamond Devil teams. Although it was cold for us, the Canadians enjoyed the afternoon sunshine and we were all glad that the weather turned out to be sunny all day.
On Sunday, a total of 16 teams played in the full day of friendly games. We played the 14U team again first thing in the morning. It was great to see how hard the Diamond Devils played and had a great time doing it. After the game, the players exchanged gifts and joined for group photos. Our players joined the Diamond Devils players during lunch and a little more free cultural exchange went on. Discussions ranged from softball to teenage life to home life and politics.
It was our last weekend of play before breaking for the high school season and a great way to wrap up the year.
We look forward to hosting the teams and families from Calgary again next year! Plans for next year's trip are already underway.
