POWER SURGE 96 QUALIFIES FOR ASA NATIONALS, MONTGOMERY, ALA., AT ASA REGIONALS IN FAIRFIELD, CA.!! (Click on this headline for Brackets)

Power Surge 12U 1996 team is now going to the 'Big Show', ASA NATIONALS, in Montgomery, Alabama, by qualifiying this past weekend in Northern California.  What a fantastic accomplishment by these young girls!!  When this season started they were all coming up from 10U all-stars and we had no idea how good they were going to be and how fast they would be good.  But to qualify for the top National Tournament in the country against mostly older 1995 teams is truly amazing.  Wow!!

Now it is on to Montgomery, Alabama, July 27-Aug. 3 for this great team.  Lets keep it up ladies and you never know what we can do.......................................

12U POWER SURGE TRYOUTS AUGUST 9-10, 16-17

Power Surge 12U heading for the 'Big Show', ASA Nationals in Montgomery, Alabama, played July 27-Aug 3, are advertising tryouts for August 9-10 and August 16-17 from 9-12noon each day at our Power Surge freeway friendly Hickman Fields. Directions to our fields on our website listed below under 'Location of Fields'.

This team will be heading to the top tournament in the country, ASA Nationals, so it is a very talented team. But we have room for some great players and parents that would like to join our great team.

As a young 1996 team this year competing against mostly older 95 teams we have had a great year in 2008. We have won one tournament and finished 2nd twice and 3rd twice in tournaments. Our record so far this season is 60 wins and only 16 losses.

We are looking for those dedicated athletes who want to go for the Gold! Power Surge offers much more as we move our players up through our Power Surge Organization to our 18Gold program and the College Recruiting Showcase Tournaments. We have been around since 1992 showing that we have stability as a top quality organization.

We feature a beautiful four field facility in central San Diego that is very freeway friendly. At our facility we have batting cages and a pitching facility.

We have two top notch pitching coaches, Stan Hunt and Debbie Corbett, and our hitting instructor is Sarah Hayes from San Diego State University.

Come play for Power Surge-Come improve you game!

For information please contact Scott Berndes at berndess@aol.com Come join us on our way to ASA Nationals..

POWER SURGE 96 QUALIFIES FOR ASA REGIONALS IN FAIRFIELD NoCal JULY 11-13

Power Surge 96 young guns have qualified for ASA Regionals July 11-13 in Fairfield, Ca.. This is quite an accomplishment for our young team. Only teams that finished in the top tier of ASA States recent tournament qualify. Again, another barometer on how we are doing and what next year will hold for this great team.

Most important, we have a chance to qualify now for ASA Nationals in Montgomery, Alabama, in late July.

POWER SURGE GOES 3-0 IN SATURDAY FRIENDLY
Power Surge had another good weekend going 3-0 this past weekend.  We scored 22 runs and gave up only 1 run.  We are gearing up for our run at ASA Nationals in two weeks, July 12-13, in the ASA Regional Qualifier in Fairfield, Ca.  Keep up the hard work ladies.

POWER SURGE FINISHES 13TH AT SOCAL ASA STATES

WEB STIE LINK IS AT: http://www.socal-asa.com/index.php?ct=jo_travel_tourn_08

Power Surge 96 had a tough draw and a tough weekend. We really played well but our young girls had to play the best of the best to try to qualify for ASA Nationals. Power Surge lost to the Champions of the tournament, Corona Angels 95 (we were tied with them in the 5th inning 1-1 and had the tying runs on in the last of the 7th. Just couldn't get it done) and the 4th place team of the tournament, American Athletics. Tough draw but we could da', should da'.

On to ASA Qualifiers and Regionals in July in Northern California. Montgomery, Alabama, and ASA Nationals, we hope, here we come!

POWER SURGE GOES 3-0 IN FRIENDLY THIS PAST WEEKEND

Power Surge 96 had another great weekend.  Very important for our team from this past weekend was that we beat one of the teams that are known as a top 10 team in the country, the San Diego Renegades 95.  If you have followed how we have done against the top 10 95 teams we have not faired well.  But we have improved each time we have played a top 95 team.  Now to beat one of the country's top 95 teams we have made a major breakthrough.

Our pitching staff also threw two no-hitters this weekend and gave up only two hits to the Renegades.  Not bad.

 Scores:

Power Surge 96  3  SD Renegades 95  2
Power Surge 96  14  SU Force  0
Power Surge 96  3  CTS  0

POWER SURGE WINS ALL THREE AT NEMISIS FRIENDLY

Power Surge had another very good weekend going up to Downey, Ca. to play some top 12U teams.  Power Surge came home winning all three games it played.  The pitching was outstanding giving up only 4 runs in the three games played.  We also hit some long home runs to keep our power numbers up.  We have now won 23 of our last 27 games.

Scores:

Power Surge 7  Quicksilver 95 2
Power Surge 6  OC Wildcats 96 1
Power Surge 3  Nemisis 96 1

POWER SURGE GOES TO FRESNO FORCE TOURNAMENT

Power Surge 96 went to the prestigous Fresno Force tournament where all the top Travel teams from all over the western states compete to see who is the best of the best.  The past five years the winner of this tournament has won ASA Nationals and probably will this year as well.

I am happy to say we played pretty well finishing 2nd in our pool and we were the top-finishing 1996 team along with the Firecrackers in the tournament.  But in our first bracket game Sunday we lost our poise, which does not happen much with this team, and lost 7-0 to Nemisis Elite 95.

Sunday, April 20
POWER SURGE GOES 6-0 FOR THE WEEKEND

Our young stars played six games this past weekend in two different Friendlies and won them all!  One Friendly was a 14U Friendly which makes it more of an accomplishment.

This amazing team continues to show it can win in many ways.  The past few weeks we won mostly with the long ball on offense.  This week we won some big games with our short game using our great speed, bunting, and slapping.  Another weapon for this team is a scary thought.

We now are 18-1-1 in our last 20 games with a tournament win in Palm Springs in those 20 games.

We now head up to Fresno this coming weekend for the top tournament in the country featuring all the top teams from the west.  Our young gals I hope will be a factor.

Weekend Scores:
14U Friendly
Power Surge 3  Prodigy 2
Power Surge 5  Mira Mesa Majic 1
Power Surge 4  Mystics 0
12U Friendly
Power Surge 11  Crunch 1
Power Surge 5  Corona Angels 0
Power Surge 4  Firecrackers 0

--POWER SURGE 96 CHAMPIONS--TRIPLE CROWN PALM SPRINGS QUALIFIER APRIL 5-6

Power Surge 96 comes home to San Diego as Champions of the Field of Dreams Triple Crown Qualifier in Palm Springs.  This was a very quality tournament with 30 teams from all over the Western States.

For this young team to win against mostly older 12U 95 teams is certainly impressive.  But to know how Power Surge won is even more impressive.  PS96 gave up only 7 runs in 7 games.  PS96 scored 48 runs.  A huge stat is Power Surge hit 15 home runs in the tournament sending its opponents outfielders deep every game.

This team is truly reaching the potential we felt it has.  Still more improvement will make this great team even better.

Congrats girls, you won a great tournament being the best you can be.

POWER SURGE GOES 2-1 IN FRIENDLY

After winning the huge Field Of Dreams tournament last weekend we were a little flat this weekeend.  Defensively we just were not ourselves making many errors.  But the bats stayed hot and kept us in every game.  We expect this team now to win every game and if Quicksilver had not hit a game-winning 2-run walk off home run we would have.

Power Surge 8  Firecrakers 5
Power Surge 8  Bomb Squad 96 0
Quicksilver 95 9  Power Surge 8

POWER SURGE GOES 3-0 IN FRIENDLY

Power Surge 12U 96 had a very good Friendly this past weekend scoring 26 runs and giving up only 5.  We played one of what is called the top 10 teams in SoCal and beat them, Minors Gold.

 Scores:

Power Surge 5  Minors Gold 4

Power Surge 7 Renegades-Datko 1

Power Surge 14  SoCal Aztecs 0

SURF CITY CLASSIC MARCH 15-16 RESULTS

It was an eye opening weekend for our young team at one of the best tournaments of the early Travel season.  Argueably 4 to 5 of the top teams in the country were at this tournament.  It was a time for our very successful team to see where we stand with the 'Big Dogs'.

We played three games that we were in and were very competitive winning one of them fortunately in Bracket play.  We did face the Anderson Heat who won the touranment and Corona Angels 95 who finished 2nd in the other two games we played.  They showed us we have still a long way to go to compete with them.  Both teams are tremendously well coached with great players.

It was good for our young team to see where we need to be and show us we need more hard work to get there.  But with the talent we have we certainly will get there.

Tuesday, March 11
POWER SURGE GOES 2-0-1 IN SANTA ANA FRIENDLY
Power Surge 12 96s won a huge game in the Friendly last weekend giving them more of an idea of where they may be in the 12u division this 2008 year.  They beat Quicksilver 95 one of the top 95 teams in SoCal 4-2.  Maybe we are going to be a factor at ASA Nationals.  We will know more after this weekend's very tough Surf City Classic in Huntington Beach featuring most of the top 12u 95 teams in SoCal and some from NorCal and Nevada.

POWER SURGE DOMINATES 12U FRIENDLY MARCH 2

Power Surge 96 12U would like to thank all the teams for playing in our Friendly.  The weather was great, our snack bar was a huge success, and the fields were manicured to perfection by our great grounds crew.

As for the games Power Surge 96 12U went 4-0 and scored a whopping 58 runs and allowed only 2 runs.  This team is really coming along.

ANOTHER FRIENDLY SCRAPPED DUE TO RAIN--SANTA ANA
I know we need the rain, but I wish it would rain on the weekdays.  We just lost our third Friendly or Tournament due to rain.  We did get in a practic due to some hard work by the dads yesterday.  Next week is our Friendly.

POWER SURGE QUALIFIES FOR TRIPLE CROWN NATIONALS BY FINISHING 3RD IN HEMET TOURNEY

Here we go again, this young group of obviously very talented girls surprising everyone again by qualifiying in there first tournament of the year for Triple Crown Nationals in Park City, Utah.  All I can say is the girls played great in finishing 3rd in the Hemet Triple Crown Qualifier.

The one area that this team has been lacking is power in their hitting.  Not their fault as most of the girls are pretty small.  But this tournament the girls hit with tremendous power.  We must have hit at least 5-6 home runs and 10 triples.  It was fun to watch.

I can't wait until next week to see what this team will do next.

Monday, February 11
POWER SURGE GOES 4-1 IN FRIENDLY

Power Surge had a very successful Sunday Friendly going 4-1.  Yep, we played 5 games in one day picking up 2 games of a team that dropped out.  That is a lot of games for this young team. We wanted to see how they would hold up in an all-day situatuion playing from 8 in the morining til dark.  Well, we won the last game 15-0 showing that we were ready to play 1 game or 5 games in a day.

We beat some very good teams along the way beating Bomb Squad, OC Batbusters, and American Pastime.  Nice job ladies!

Monday, January 21
POWER SURGE 12U GOES 2-0-1 IN FRIENDLY

POWER SURGE 12U 96'S PLAYED THEIR FIRST 14U TOURNAMENT AND KEEPS ON SURPRISING

Power Surge's gutty 6th graders played their first 14U tournament this past weekend.  And, as has been the case, surprised us all by being super competitive.  Power Surge went 2-2 in the event against 8th and 9th graders.  It continues to amaze me that this young group can keep improving and play with the best.  In our playoff game we lost by one run to a much bigger and obviously older 14U team we made the last out of the game at home plate on a great play to stop us from scoring.

Great job ladies.  Keep improving every day.

Sunday, December 30
POWER SURGE 12U ADDS IMPACT PLAYER SARA WHITE FROM RANCHO BERNARDO
Power Surge 12u is happy to announce that we have added one of the top players in San Diego County, Sara White.  She is a top Pitcher and Shortstop who can play with the best.  Our plans for this team are to be one of the top teams in the country and to compete for an ASA National title for years to come.  Sara gives us more weapons to shoot for those goals.

Sunday, December 16
POWER SURGE 12U FINISHES TIED 2ND AT TOYS FOR TOTS--AMERICAN ATHLETICS
Power Surge's kids were awesome this past weekend finishing a fantastic 2nd place in the very competitive Toys For Tots American Athletics tournament.  This was a make-up of the rained out tournament from two weeks ago.  But the Power Surgers kept their skills up and showed they will be a factor in the 12u division, even as an all 11u 1996 team.  It was a great tournament that showed what the future will hold for this talented team.

POWER SURGE HOSTS GREAT FRIENDLY

Power Surge 12U hosted a very successful Friendly this past weekend.  Some of the top teams from all over SoCal attended and the competition was high.  Renegades, Corona Angels, OC Wildcats, Nemisis, TNL, and Quicksilver were some of the teams that attended.  We want to thank all the teams that attended.

As for how our Power Surge team did we went 2-1 beating the OC Wildcats 6-4 and Nemisis 4-3, and lost to the Corona Angels 6-5.  We played pretty well but need to eliminate the 11U mistakes.

Wednesday, November 14
POWER SURGE DOMINATES AT RIVERSIDE FRIENDLY
Power Surge put it together this past weekend scoring 34 runs and only giving up 1 run and went 3-0.  Great job ladies as it is coming together.

Monday, November 5
POWER SURGE DOES NOT FARE WELL IN PALM SPRINGS
Power Surge's 96's just could not put it together this past weekend going 1-3 in the Palm Springs USSSA tournament.  It was a great experience though to travel as a team for the first time, spend the night in hotel rooms, and bond as a team.

Sunday, October 21
POWER SURGE SWEEPS FRIENDLY OCT. 21
Power Surge's young dynos went up to Los Angeles to face as usual some older bigger teams.  Playing these older teams will keep happening until Jan. 1 when the older girls have to move on to the 14's.  But for the time being our young gifted players are more than holding their own as we won all three games this past weekend we played outscoring our opponents 27 runs to 8 runs.  Our pitching, defense, hitting, and especially our team speed on the bases dominated the competition.  Great job ladies and keep getting better.

Monday, October 15
POWER SURGE FINISHES TIED FOR 3RD AT HEMET TOURNEY
Power Surge played its first ever tournament and showed it has the potential we are thought we would have, that is to be a great team.  We still are at the beginnings of building a great team but glimers are certainly there.  We finished a strong tied for 3rd in the Hemet USSSA tournament against teams that were a year to two years older than our girls.  We stood strong and went 3-2 in the tournament.

Sunday, October 7
POWER SURGE PLAYS FIRST GAMES
Power Surge went up to take on the best of the best this past weekend going to the National Champion West Covina Jynx Friendly.  Pretty bold for Power Surge's first games ever as a team.  We held our own losing both games we played against the Jynx, 5-2 and 6-4.  We were not sure how we would do, how good our team was.  We played both games at a high level, yet seeing that we have a ton of things to work on.  We will get better and better as the season goes on.

Friday, August 17
TRYOUTS FOR OUR NEW POWER SURGE 12U TEAM 96 BIRTHDAYS A HUGE SUCCESS
Our new 12U 96 birthday Power Surge tryouts turnout this past weekend was more than expected for a new young team. In all we had over 30 girls show up for our tryouts and they were all excellent players. It was very hard to pick from all the excellent players.

Power Surge has selected 12 players out of those 30 players who tried out. We think we have assembled the best talent from all the Rec Leagues here in San Diego. It truly looks like an all-star team of the best players throughout San Diego County. And the plan is to take this team to ASA Nationals many times, hopefully winning one, and through 18Gold.

We would like to thank all those that showed up for tryouts and wish them all the luck in their softball career.

POWER SURGE NAMES SCOTT BERNDES NEW 12U MANAGER
Power Surge is proud to announce that its new 12U coach will be Scott Berndes. Scott will bring a tremendous amount of experience to this new mostly 11U team. Two ASA Nationals and many Triple Crown tournaments including the 12U title in 2003. He has also coached fastpitch softball at two major universities, UC Riverside and UC San Diego.

FIELD
POWER SURGE COMPLEX OF 4 FIELDS
THE POWER SURGE ORGANIZATION ADDS A FOURTH FIELD TO IT'S ALREADY GREAT SOFTBALL COMPLEX
The Power Surge Girls Fastpitch Softball Organization is proud to announce that we have added a fourth field to our softball complex. The addition of a fourth field will make our Power Surge organization even stronger. More practice space. We can add a few more teams to our Power Surge organization. More teams can play in our Friendlies and tournaments which means more money can be made by entry fees and snack bar purchases. All in all, we have just made a huge leap for the already very strong Power Surge Fastpitch Softball Organization! In addition to our four softball fields we have two lighted batting cages, five lighted pitching mounds, snack bar, and picnic areas.

If you need directions to our freeway friendly central San Diego location please go to 'Locations of Fields' on our Menu.
