POWER SURGE 12U 96 WINS ALL THREE IN TOUGH 14U FRIENDLY
Power Surge 12u 96's continue to prepare for ASA Nationals in Illionios playing some older tough competition. We went 3-0 this past weekend beating some very tough 14u teams, one being a 1994 team. Pitching was very good and we are adjusting to the faster pitching. Our team speed really was the factor in winning the games as we took advantage of every mistake the other teams made. Next week another 14u with a 14u tournament in Hemet. On to Nationals! Monday, May 25 POWER SURGE 96 SO CAL ASA 'STATE' CHAMPIONS 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! Will this Power Surge team ever stop accomplishing and striving to be the very best there is?????? I sure hope not as the sky is the limit for these great players. Power Surge 96 just went to probably the toughest tournament of the year, The Southern California State Championships with 48 teams, and went undefeated 6-0 and were crowned CHAMPIONS! Power Surge scored 52 runs and gave up only 7 in the six games they played. What a team! What a great group of girls! What a great group of parents and supporters! All always perform with class! Next up for this talented team.....................ASA Nationals in Normal, Illinois, in late July early August. We have the talent and the confidence to do well at Nationals. Look out for Power Surge 96 SO CAL STATE CHAMPIONS. We have now won the last five tournaments we have been in and have been undefeated in all five tournaments. Our record is now a whopping 61-5. POWER SURGE FINISHES TIED FOR 4TH AT BEST OF THE WEST TOURNAMENT
Power Surge finished a respectable tied for 4th in this high quality tournament. Conditions were great for us as it was high 90's and very humid which will be the conditions at Nationals. We got in 6 games, lots of at bats and our pitchers got to pitch in these conditions. Overall a good weekend for us to continue on to Nationals. Monday, June 22

Power Surge continues to play well going 3-0 this past weekend. We must get better though to compete at ASA Nationals in Late July. We are working hard in practice to simulate all the necessary items that we will face. In games we are using what we are learning and doing that very well. We will improve and be a factor come ASA Nationals. Our overall record at this time is now 70 wins and 5 losses. Monday, May 18
POWER SURGE GOES 3-0 IN PREPARATION FOR ASA STATES TOURNAMENT
Power Surge looks primed and ready for the ASA States National Qualifier coming up this weekend. They won all three games scoring 32 runs and giving up 5. We will try to post the state brackets when they come available here. Power Surge is ready to take the challenge of trying to qualify for Nationals this coming weekend. Sunday, June 7
POWER SURGE GOES 3-0 IN 14u TUFF ENUFF FRIENDLY
Power Surge now moves forward to get ready for ASA Nationals. We will be focusing on playing a lot of 14U competition. We hope that we can compete with the older girls. As a 12U team it is a challenge to play up and we hope that will make us tougher and better for it. This past weekend we ventured into the 14u division to play a Friendly. We were fortunate enough to play well and win all three games scoring 35 runs and giving up only 2 runs. Tuesday, May 12
POWER SURGE ADDS TWO KEY PLAYERS
Power Surge 96 has added two key players that will really help us on our quest to go to ASA Nationals, Selina Taamilo and Julea Cavazos. Selina is one of the top pitchers in Southern California and can really bring it. She also has a big bat that will help us with even more power. Julea brings more speed to our already very fast lineup and plays a great outfield. Welcome aboard ladies to the Power Surge ship on a journey to ASA Nationals in Illinois.
POWER SURGE GOES UNDEFEATED AND CO-CHAMPIONS IN MOTHERS DAY TOURNEY
Power Surge went undefeated this past weekend and was declared co-champions with the OC Batusters. Injuries to Batbuster players caused the final not to be played. Power Surge scored 19 runs and gave up only 1 in the three games they played. Power Surge is now 55-4 for this season. Not bad. Monday, May 4
POWER SURGE GOES 3-0 IN FRIENDLY
Power Surge went 3-0 this past weekend scoring 18 runs and giving up 1. Two of the games were against 14u teams. Monday, April 27
POWER SURGE 96 WINS THE HUGE 'FRESNO FORCE' TOURNAMENT-CHAMPIONS
Power Surge 96 is really continuing to play at its very best as this past weekend Power Surge traveled to Fresno and won the prestigious Fresno Force Tournament. 58 teams were in the 12U division from all over the West Coast. To finish 1st in this great tournament is really an honor. But the girls deserved it going 7-0, scoring 52 runs and giving up only 8 in the seven games we played.
Monday, April 20
POWER SURGE FRIENDLY APRIL 19
Power Surge started slow after our week off losing the the tough Wildcats. But we ended up beating two very good teams in the Firecrackers, and the Corona Angels-Knighten. Monday, April 6
POWER SURGE REPEATS AS CHAMPIONS OF PALM SPRINGS TCS
Power Surge went to Palm Springs to defend the title it won last year as an all 11-year old team. We are proud to announce that we won the Palm Springs TCS Tournament again this year. Power Surge scored 66 runs and gave up only 5 runs in seven games. Our girls hit some huge home runs, our pitchers were up the the task, our defense was outstanding making only 2 errors all weekend, and as always is the case our baserunners stole many bases. Great job ladies! What a great accomplishment for our girls. We have now won two tournaments in a row in two succesive weekends and finished 2nd in a 14U tournament three weeks ago. We are certainly on a roll!

POWER SURGE 12U 96 FINISHES 2ND IN HEMET 14U TRIPLE CROWN TOURNAMENT
Power Surge 96 is really getting its game together. This past weekend we played in a 14U tournament with the older girls and finished in 2nd place out of 24 teams. We certainly could have won the tournament as we had the lead for a part of the game and when the game ended we had the tying run at third base and the winning run at second base. OC Elite 14U, the winning team, had to make a very good play to get the last out. We did have a great tournament both defensively and offensively. We scored 44 runs in seven games, had 4 shutouts and gave up only 7 runs. Outstanding ladies!

POWER SURGE GOES 3-O IN FRIENDLY
Power Surge went 3-0 in a Friendly hosted by us. We are glad that we will now be moving on to some tournaments as the team is ready with many things being decided. We are playing well right now. Defense and pitching is really on. We are now working on adding some new items to our offense and it also is coming along. We are 11-0 in our last eleven games and have scored 82 runs and given up only 3 runs in those games. Sunday, March 1
POWER SURGE SPENDS DAY AT HITTING CLINIC AND GAMES IN LA
Power Surge 96 had a long day last Sunday. Always looking to improve our hitting we went all the way to Los Angeles for a hitting session for 3 hours. The session was designed to improve our weak points to a point where they become our strong points. It was a very interesting 3 hours. Hope it all works. Later that day we played a double header to make sure we got in some games. We defeated Team Smith 4-2 and Crush 5-1. A long day but we hope it was worth it.
Monday, February 23
POWER SURGE GOES 6-0 IN WEEKEND FRIENDLY
Power Surge scored 44 runs and gave only 1 run in going 6-0 this past weekend. Monday, February 23
POWER SURGE GOES 3-1 IN CANADA FRIENDSHIP GAMES
Power Surge played decently in going 3-1 against teams from Canada and SoCal. Tuesday, January 27
POWER SURGE STRUGGLES IN FIRST GAMES
Power Surge played its first games of the 2009 season last weekend and did not play well. We lost 3-2 to Jynx and 2-1 to Crunch. We did beat the South Bay Dynasty 7-3. We look forward to better results in the coming games. Wednesday, December 24
POWER SURGE 12U DECEMBER TRYOUTS A SUCCESS
Power Surge would like to thank all those that showed up for tryouts. There was some outstanding talent that showed up and we wish all those that were not selected good luck in your future softball careers. We did select two very talented players which will add to an already very strong team. We were looking for impact players that can play at the highest level of Travel Ball. If we did not have that quality of athlete at tryouts we would not have taken any players. But the two players we selected are top notch softball players that will make Power Surge even better. We selected Taylor Wyckoff a much needed pitcher who can bring it. She is 5'10 and can also hit for great power. Kind of scary to think we are adding another big bat to our already powerful lineup. We also selected a 1997 birthday player in Abigail Metsch. Yes, that is right, we selected an 11 year player to join all our 1996 12 years old older gals. Abigail to my knowledge has never played Travel Ball, at least at the level we play. Why the heck would we take her. Well, she ran the fastest of all my current players and we are fast, hit for power like our big hitters, played a smooth shortstop, and to make her more valuable, she is a great catcher. We would also like make mention that we have offered a spot to Shelbi Evans as she was a great replacement catcher for our starting catcher who was out most of the Fall with a broken ankle. Shelbi played hard and earned a spot on our Power Surge team. With these three additions to our already strong team look for even better results from POWER SURGE in 2009 on the softball field!!!! Sunday, December 7
POWER SURGE FINISHES FALL SEASON AT TOY FOR TOTS
Power Surge finished the Fall season at the Toys Fot Tots tournament in Laguna Nigel. We finished 4-1, scoring 39 runs giving up only 6, but finished a very disappointing tie for 5th. Our plans were to show we were one of the big powers of 12U which I think we did. But, we did not get to a final and that is where we wanted to be. It will be an interesting 2009 with many teams in the mix for the ASA title. Hopefully Power Surge can improve and become a team that can win any game at any time no matter what the tournament or friendly. Monday, December 1
SAN DIEGO POWER SURGE FINISHES TIED FOR 3RD AT ASA THANKSGIVING TOURNAMENT
Power Surge 12U played in the top tournament of the Fall facing the top 12U teams in SoCal. We are disappointed in not coming out as champions as that is always our goal, but happy with the way we played. We did beat the eventual champions, the Firecrackers, in pool play. But they got even with us and beat us in bracket play. This tournament certainly showed that we are going to compete for the National title. When we return our three injured players we will be even stronger. Tryouts may bring even more additional strong players. Please keep checking this page as to when we will be having our tryouts for the 2009 season. Monday, November 24
POWER SURGE GOES 3-0 IN FIRECRACKER FRIENDLY
Power Surge continues to play well winning all three games this past weekend. This is important in that we have three injuries to key players. Our Leading Hitter, our Clean Up hitter, and one of our very valuable Slappers are all out with injuries. We actually have not lost since they have been out and have played some very good teams. I believe that shows what depth and talent we have. Great job this last weekend ladies. Power Surge 3 Firecrackers 2 Power Surge 13 Bomb Squad 96 1 Power Surge 4 OC Batbusters Ray 0 Monday, November 17
POWER SURGE 12u 96 WINS ALL THREE IN TOUGH FRIENDLY
Power Surge hosted a tough Friendly at our fields and won all three games it played. Great pitching, defense, team speed, and timely hitting helped Power Surge go undefeated. Power Surge 3 Firecrackers 1 Power Surge 4 Nemesis 0 Power Surge 15 Cal Thunder 2 Monday, November 10
POWER SURGE 12U 96 GOES 3-0 IN 14u FRIENDLY
Power Surge 12u played its first 14U Friendly of the season and had great success going 3-0, scoring 34 runs and giving up only 4 runs. We were supposed to be off but we were offered the opportunity to play 14U and we jumped at it. The girls played very well playing 14U even having our 7th graders beat a team of mostly high school girls. Look for us to continue to challenge the team with more 14U games. Sunday, November 2
JYNX FRIENDLY
Power Surge 96 played in a friendly hosted by Jynx. We played about as good as the weather as it poored many times during the day. We lost to thef Fillies 14U team after leading 5-0 in the last inning. We tied a very good Jynx team but did not hit a lick. We beat up on American Pastime and won easily. It was certainly and on and off day, just like the weather. Monday, October 20
POWER SURGE GOES UNDEFEATED IN TOUGH FRIENDLY
Power Surge had some tough games this past weekend going 3 wins and a tie. We played four straight games and got a lot of good work in. Power Surge over Surf City Power Surge over Revenge Power Surge over Crunch Power Surge ties SoCal RebelsMonday, October 13
POWER SURGE DOMINATES IN FIRST TOURNEY AS CHAMPION
Power Surge 96 played in their first Fall tournament and scored 64 runs and gave up only 3 runs to capture the Championship. Our pitching was truly outstanding in giving up only 3 runs in six games. Our power hitters and all our new slappers with their tremendous speed really lit up the scoreboard. It was a great way to start our tournament season.
Monday, September 1
POWER SURGE ADDS 4 TOP QUALITY PLAYERS.........AND THEY CAN HIT!!
Power Surge has completed its roster by adding four new players. Power Surge was very intent on adding some big hitters to compliment the great hitters we have now and the abundance of team speed and slappers we have. We needed more power to drive our runners in, and we have done it. Katie Byrd, Alicia Brown, Amber Davis, and Rebecca Dvorak all were integral parts of their mostly older and successful all-star teams. Katie batted 3rd as 96 birthday on her pretty much all 1995 Santee all-star team. Alicia was a leading batter for her Glendora all-star team and as a 1996 she was the number one pitcher as well. Amber was a key member as a 96 on her Poway team that finished 4th at 'B' Nationals. All three played on teams that went to 'B' Nationals. Rebecca was the all everything at Mira Mesa doing her best to help the team. We welcome all four girls and know that they will be an important part of journey to ASA Nationals in 2009. Friday, August 1
DAY 4 ASA NATIONALS-MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA
We are out! Unfortunately our bats went completely quite in the elimination bracket getting only 6 hits and scoring 2 runs in the 14 innings we played. At this level of competition you just can't do that. Every team here has at least one very good pitcher. We needed to adjust to that and come out swinging. We lost to the Tsunami from Jacksonville, Florida, 9-1. But, being I think only 1 of 4 all 1996 birthday teams of 11 year olds at ASA Nationals is quite an honor, no matter how we did. To win over 60 games this past year, to win the huge Triple Crown tournament in Palm Springs, to travel to NorCal and qualify for ASA Nationals, to go to Montgomery and play against the best of the best at ASA Nationals is an amazing acomplishment!!!! Look out for this team next year at ASA Nationals in Moline, Illinois. We may be the favorites.......... Wednesday, July 30
DAY 3 ASA NATIONALS MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA
Today was the first round of bracket play in double elimination. This is now where it all counts, the tournament has truly started. Well, I am shocked and saddened to say we came out listless and not ready to play and got our behinds kicked 6-1 by the Lady Cats From Houston, Texas. I am really at a loss to explain our poor play as we have been playing so well this week. The team we played was not an overpowering team and I thought we were much better than they were. But only scoring one run in a game, you don't win often. Now it is 14 wins to be the champion. A long road ahead. Texas Lady Cats 6 Power Surge 1 Tuesday, July 29
DAY TWO-ASA NATIONALS, MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA
Power Surge won another tough game, its last of pool play. We played a very good team from Oklahoma called the Force. They had some fireball pitchers who really threw heat. But we were aggressive at the plate, had great pitching, defense, and won. Power Surge 6 Oklahoma Force 1 Monday, July 28
12U ASA NATIONALS UPDATES IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA, JULY 28-AUG 3
Power Surge 12U 96 is in Montgomery, Alabama, participating in the top National Tournament in the country with all the top teams from all the states in the United States, THE BEST OF THE BEST! We will be updating daily when time permits from our busy schedule on how Power Surge is doing. We all arrived safely and are very excited to be here with the best teams in the country representing Power Surge and San Diego. The first day of Opening Ceremonies and the Teams Social, and a practice here in Montgomery, really showed the girls what they were to face, the heat and a lot of amazing teams. Day 1 Monday, July 28 Power Surge plays some giant girls from Portland, Oregon, in the first of two Pool Play games. I think they drove themselves they looked so old. Oh well, we got to play them so lets go! Would you believe: Power Surge 96 9 Portland, Oregon, Fireballs 4 Power Surge played a really flawless game, bunting up a storm in the beginning of the game and then turning on the hitting to win easily. Carlee Wallace had three hits to lead the way. Sunday, July 20
POWER SURGE READIES FOR ASA NATIONALS IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA, BY GOING 3-0 IN CORONA ANGELS FRIENDLY

POWER SURGE 96 QUALIFIES FOR ASA NATIONALS, MONTGOMERY, ALA., AT ASA REGIONALS IN FAIRFIELD, CA.!! (Click on this headline for Brackets)
Power Surge 12U 1996 team is now going to the 'Big Show', ASA NATIONALS, in Montgomery, Alabama, by qualifiying this past weekend in Northern California. What a fantastic accomplishment by these young girls!! When this season started they were all coming up from 10U all-stars and we had no idea how good they were going to be and how fast they would be good. But to qualify for the top National Tournament in the country against mostly older 1995 teams is truly amazing. Wow!! Now it is on to Montgomery, Alabama, July 27-Aug. 3 for this great team. Lets keep it up ladies and you never know what we can do.......................................

POWER SURGE 96 QUALIFIES FOR ASA REGIONALS IN FAIRFIELD NoCal JULY 11-13
Power Surge 96 young guns have qualified for ASA Regionals July 11-13 in Fairfield, Ca.. This is quite an accomplishment for our young team. Only teams that finished in the top tier of ASA States recent tournament qualify. Again, another barometer on how we are doing and what next year will hold for this great team. Most important, we have a chance to qualify now for ASA Nationals in Montgomery, Alabama, in late July. Monday, June 23
POWER SURGE 96 FINISHES 2ND IN USSSA TOURNEY IN SAN PEDRO
Power Surge had another good showing this past weekend finishing 2nd in the usssa tourney in San Pedro. Tuesday, May 27
POWER SURGE FINISHES 13TH AT SOCAL ASA STATES
WEB STIE LINK IS AT: http://www.socal-asa.com/index.php?ct=jo_travel_tourn_08 Power Surge 96 had a tough draw and a tough weekend. We really played well but our young girls had to play the best of the best to try to qualify for ASA Nationals. Power Surge lost to the Champions of the tournament, Corona Angels 95 (we were tied with them in the 5th inning 1-1 and had the tying runs on in the last of the 7th. Just couldn't get it done) and the 4th place team of the tournament, American Athletics. Tough draw but we could da', should da'. On to ASA Qualifiers and Regionals in July in Northern California. Montgomery, Alabama, and ASA Nationals, we hope, here we come! Sunday, April 27
POWER SURGE GOES TO FRESNO FORCE TOURNAMENT
Power Surge 96 went to the prestigous Fresno Force tournament where all the top Travel teams from all over the western states compete to see who is the best of the best. The past five years the winner of this tournament has won ASA Nationals and probably will this year as well. I am happy to say we played pretty well finishing 2nd in our pool and we were the top-finishing 1996 team along with the Firecrackers in the tournament. But in our first bracket game Sunday we lost our poise, which does not happen much with this team, and lost 7-0 to Nemisis Elite 95. Monday, April 7 --POWER SURGE 96 CHAMPIONS--TRIPLE CROWN PALM SPRINGS QUALIFIER APRIL 5-6 Power Surge 96 comes home to San Diego as Champions of the Field of Dreams Triple Crown Qualifier in Palm Springs. This was a very quality tournament with 30 teams from all over the Western States. For this young team to win against mostly older 12U 95 teams is certainly impressive. But to know how Power Surge won is even more impressive. PS96 gave up only 7 runs in 7 games. PS96 scored 48 runs. A huge stat is Power Surge hit 15 home runs in the tournament sending its opponents outfielders deep every game. This team is truly reaching the potential we felt it has. Still more improvement will make this great team even better. Congrats girls, you won a great tournament being the best you can be.
Monday, March 17
SURF CITY CLASSIC MARCH 15-16 RESULTS
It was an eye opening weekend for our young team at one of the best tournaments of the early Travel season. Argueably 4 to 5 of the top teams in the country were at this tournament. It was a time for our very successful team to see where we stand with the 'Big Dogs'. We played three games that we were in and were very competitive winning one of them fortunately in Bracket play. We did face the Anderson Heat who won the touranment and Corona Angels 95 who finished 2nd in the other two games we played. They showed us we have still a long way to go to compete with them. Both teams are tremendously well coached with great players.
It was good for our young team to see where we need to be and show us we need more hard work to get there. But with the talent we have we certainly will get there.

POWER SURGE 12U 96'S PLAYED THEIR FIRST 14U TOURNAMENT AND KEEPS ON SURPRISING
Power Surge's gutty 6th graders played their first 14U tournament this past weekend. And, as has been the case, surprised us all by being super competitive. Power Surge went 2-2 in the event against 8th and 9th graders. It continues to amaze me that this young group can keep improving and play with the best. In our playoff game we lost by one run to a much bigger and obviously older 14U team we made the last out of the game at home plate on a great play to stop us from scoring. Great job ladies. Keep improving every day. Sunday, December 16
POWER SURGE 12U FINISHES TIED 2ND AT TOYS FOR TOTS--AMERICAN ATHLETICS
Power Surge's kids were awesome this past weekend finishing a fantastic 2nd place in the very competitive Toys For Tots American Athletics tournament. This was a make-up of the rained out tournament from two weeks ago. But the Power Surgers kept their skills up and showed they will be a factor in the 12u division, even as an all 11u 1996 team. It was a great tournament that showed what the future will hold for this talented team. Sunday, December 30
POWER SURGE 12U ADDS IMPACT PLAYER SARA WHITE FROM RANCHO BERNARDO
Power Surge 12u is happy to announce that we have added one of the top players in San Diego County, Sara White. She is a top Pitcher and Shortstop who can play with the best. Our plans for this team are to be one of the top teams in the country and to compete for an ASA National title for years to come. Sara gives us more weapons to shoot for those goals. Monday, October 15
POWER SURGE FINISHES TIED FOR 3RD AT HEMET TOURNEY
Power Surge played its first ever tournament and showed it has the potential we are thought we would have, that is to be a great team. We still are at the beginnings of building a great team but glimers are certainly there. We finished a strong tied for 3rd in the Hemet USSSA tournament against teams that were a year to two years older than our girls. We stood strong and went 3-2 in the tournament.
POWER SURGE NAMES SCOTT BERNDES NEW 12U MANAGER
Power Surge is proud to announce that its new 12U coach will be Scott Berndes. Scott will bring a tremendous amount of experience to this new mostly 11U team. Two ASA Nationals and many Triple Crown tournaments including the 12U title in 2003. He has also coached fastpitch softball at two major universities, UC Riverside and UC San Diego.
