Physicals and Weights
Don't Forget Your Physical!
You're child will need a physical before
participating in Pop Warner football or cheer. Please use the "2012 Player
Physical Form" located under the Forms and Handouts Tab.
Help With Choosing the Proper Division
Before registering your child for football, please take a moment to follow these steps:
1) Get an accurate weight. You will be asked how much your child weighs on the registration form. Filling in the weight properly helps PSL place them in the most appropriate division.
2) Check the Age Weight Matrix in the "Forms and Handouts" section of the website. This will help you determine which division your child should play.
It is generally accepted and a practice of PSL to encourage kids to play in a division that will give them the most opportunity for success. This usually means playing at the lowest possible level for their age. The Pop Warner divisions of play are listed below:
DIVISION AGE WEIGHT
Tiny Mite 5, 6, 7 (35-75 lbs.) No Older Lighters
Mitey Mite 7, 8, 9 (45-90 lbs.) No Older Lighters
Jr. Pee Wee 8, 9, 10 (60-105 lbs.) 11 yr. olds max weight is 85 lbs.
Pee Wee 9, 10, 11 (75-120 lbs.) 12 yr. olds max weight is 100 lbs.
Jr. Midget 10, 11, 12 (*90-*145 lbs) 13 yr. olds max weight is *120 lbs
Midget 12, 13, 14 (105-*170 lbs.) 15 yr. olds max weight is 140 lbs

Our Mission at PSL Pirates Football & Cheer Building Community, Life Values, Confidence and Scholar Athletes
The mission of Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. is to enable children to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that children will use throughout their lives. We are a youth football and cheerleading association sanctioned by Pop Warner Little Scholars, the oldest youth football organization in the United States. Our teams compete in the Treasure Coast Football Conference. We will be football and cheer teams, in six age divisions, from ages 5 to 15. Key Points for the 2012 Season
Scholastics
“Little Scholars” Pop Warner is the ONLY youth sports program in America that rewards it’s athletes for their outstanding performance in the classroom! Each year the most academically accomplished kids compete for the All American status and scholarships at
Local : Treasure Coast Scholastic Banquet – Feb
Regionally : South East Region Scholastic Banquet – March in Orlando
Nationally : Scholastic Banquet – May in Orlando
Safety Safety Safety
Safety First! Kids compete with kids of similar age and size. Pop Warner is the ONLY youth football and Cheer/Dance program that sets and enforces a strict Age, Weight Matrix (weight only for football) that reduces the risk and reality of injuries! Coaches Training is mandatory!
Sportsmanship
It’s all about having fun! Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated!
Our Kids Have Fun!
Every cheer and dance athlete (competitive and exhibition) at Local Competition receives a Pop Warner Participant Medal! Athletes that do not wish to compete at Local, Regional or National competitions do not have to if they provide an Absentee Form. Football games are fun – cheer/dance performs a half time routine at the football games!
Fair Competitions
Not only do we have an Age Matrix that is fair to ensure safety, we have divisions and categories to make the cheer and dance competitions fair! Small teams (19 or less) compete against Small teams! Large teams (up to 35) compete against Large teams! We will also compete in divisions that are best suited for our athletes. Why There Are No Personal Statistics: Pop Warner exists to use football, cheerleading, dance and a respect for education to develop strong, smart, responsible, healthy young men and women. We give them experiences that build their appreciation for and understanding of leadership, teamwork, and discipline. While individual statistics may be more common, particularly among older football players, Pop Warner only recognizes the athletic accomplishments of the team, not the individual. We don't track personal tallies of touchdowns or yards rushing per game. We don't count sacks or blocked kicks. We applaud the athletic efforts of the team to reinforce the importance of teamwork, with each member. We don't try to build stars. We don't want to over-inflate a young ego, nor do we want to risk injuring the self-esteem of a young person. Whether our kids have good days or bad, they are still an integral part of our team... and always will be.
