What is the Select Soccer Program? 

Select Soccer is the 3rd teir of a 3 teir program and is the highest level of play for ages U-10 to U-19. Teams participating in the Travel Program typically play 8 to 10 games a season against other club travel teams. In addition, teams partcipate in several tournaments a season. League play is generally against teams in the Hampton Roads area. Tournaments will typically be in the State of Viriginia but are determined after tryouts by the coaches and parents. Players participate in open tryouts each spring and are assigned to teams based on skill level.

Portsmouth Soccer Club plays its Select Level under VSLI (Virginia Soccer League).  VSLI gives us the opportunity to play clubs not only from the Tidewater area but from all over the region.
 
VSLI has its own website where schedules and VSLI league information is posted and kept current.  Team Coaches, Managers and Parents should use the VSLI website for up-to-date information for your Travel team.  The address is http://www.vasoccerleague.com/home/default.asp .

In addition to the registration fee the player will need to purchase an uniform kit which consists of 2 jerseys, one pair of shorts, and two pairs of socks for roughly $110.00. The club's uniform cycle is every two years, so a new uniform will need to be purchased in fall 2010, 2012, 2014, etc. Club fees for Select players include a league fee (VSLI), certified referees, insurance/registration fee paid to VYSA (our state association), administrative costs, and coach license courses.
