Thursday, December 4 WINTER East Bay Baseball Academy Winter Training Program at East Bay Baseball Academy. We’re offering the following programs beginning in 2009: Private lessons:: $180 for six half-hour lessons in all aspects of the game. Our staff includes collegiate instructors for fast pitch softball. Group session:: Twelve 90-minute sessions. Open to all Little League players ages 8 – 13. Batting, fielding, pitching, and conditioning. $300 (two payments of $150). Pups class:: $210 for twelve one-hour sessions. Introduction to hitting, fielding, sport conditioning. Open to all players ages 5 - 8. Mini groups:: Six one-hour sessions in advanced & offspeed hitting, fielding and catching. $150 per player. Small groups (3 – 5) of similar age & skills. The cost of $85 includes 12 hours of camp instruction, a Gull's game ticket, and a Newport Gulls T-Shirt. Our camps are for both boys and girls of all ages and skill levels, and players will be grouped based on age and ability. There will be a strong emphasis on teaching the fundamentals of the game. Our summer camps are designed to create an enjoyable atmosphere for your child to learn the game of baseball. Come and join us for a memorable summer experience. Please note that registration confirmation letters will be mailed one week prior to camp, and walk-in registrations will be limited this year. Coaching Staff Our professional staff of experienced coaches and dedicated players will provide an opportunity to learn the game properly. The camps will be coordinated by the Newport Gulls coaching staff. Other instructors will consist of players from the 2006 Newport Gulls, who are considered some of the top collegiate players in the country. This is a great opportunity to learn the game of baseball from the Major League stars of tomorrow. Inclement Weather The safety of the camp participants is on the top of our list. If we feel that weather conditions jeopardize that safety, we will have no other option but to cancel the camp for that day. If the camp runs from Monday to Thursday, the cancellation will be rescheduled to the Friday of that week. If the camp runs Tuesday to Friday, we will unfortunately lose that day of the camp. If at all possible, we will attempt to add time to the days that we are running the camp to make up for the lost day, but we cannot guarantee that, depending on the team schedule and travel itinerary. Any cancellations will be posted on the home page of this website, in "News From The Nest" by 7:30am on the day of camp. No telephone calls will be made. If the camp starts and it begins to rain during camp, we will attempt to shelter the kids for a period of time, but parents/guardians should be prepared to arrange for the kids to be picked up. The University of Rhode Island Baseball program will host a winter hitting clinic and spring pitching/defense clinic.. Clinics will run from 10am to 2pm. The clinics will focus on the fundamentals needed to be successful on the baseball field. All levels of players are invited. Our instructors will individually evaluate and correct potential flaws in a players mechanics. We will provide players with a solid offensive, defensive,or pitching foundation for future success. Space is Limited. This is an excellent opportunity for players to get top level instruction from the URI coaching staff and varsity players. Clinics will be held in the Tootell Center. Shorts or baseball pants and turf or running shoes only. LUNCH will not be provided, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Coach/Parent Clinic: Sunday, February 19 (10am-1pm): The URI Baseball Coaches Clinic is designed for coaches of all levels that want to get the most out of their coaching experience. During our 3 hour clinic we offer professional advice to coaches, we will discuss and illustrate the basic fundamentals of baseball that you should be teaching your players. Food and drinks will be provided. Cost: $40 Winter Clinic For High School Students: The University of Rhode Island Baseball program will host a winter clinic for high school student-athletes on Saturday, February 25, from 2 pm to 5 pm. Hitting, pitching, and fielding skills will be covered. The clinic will be conducted in URIs Tootell Physical Education Center. Register online at www.gorhody.com. Jim Foster's Summer Baseball Camps Registration for the Jim Foster Summer Baseball Camps will begin online in late February. Monday to Friday July 17-21 Monday to Friday July 24-28 Monday to Friday July 31-August 4 9 am to 3 pm every day Camp Brochure CAMP PROGRAM This day camp for ages 6-15 will be held July 18-22, July 25-29 and August 1-5 at URI's Beck field located on the Kingston campus behind Keaney gymnasium off Route 138. Campers will be divided into groups according to age, and should bring a glove, bat, hat, baseball pants or sweats (no shorts), and cleats or sneakers. Each individual will receive extensive instruction. The daily program consists of morning drills and training, then afternoon live games. The typical schedule will be: 8:30-9:00am Arrival/Check-in 9:00-9:15am Warm-up/Stretching 9:15-9:30am Throwing Techniques 9:30-12:30pm Skills instruction 12:30-1:15pm Lunch* 1:15-1:40pm Warm-up/Chalk Talk 1:40-2:55pm Live Games (Coaches pitch) 3:00-3:15pm Dismissal *Campers may bring their own lunch in a cooler. Pizza, sub sandwiches and soft drinks will be available for purchase. A menu will be provided at the start of each camp week.
