Steve Sabatino added three hits and two RBI's and Tom Bedwell had a 2 run homerun for the Porters who are now 6-1. Sean Forte pitched 4 innings, giving up one run to record his 3rd victory of the year.

Forte closes out PFC
The Lockport Porters advanced into the winners bracket by defeating Plainfield Central 2-1 in 8 innings. Sean Forte held PFC scoreless through the final 4 2/3 innings to record his 2nd win of the season. Forte scattered two hits with 6 K's. Eddie Stanislawski started the game for the Porters and surrendered the lone run for PFC. Steve Sabatino drove in Mike Aguilar with a two out double in the 4th inning. Tyler Willis drove home the winning run in the 8th inning with a single to score Derek Crouch who was pinch running for Jon Cisna who had doubled.
The Porters will take on Providence HS at 10am at PFS HS tom orrow 3/29.

Brother Rice 14 Lockport 2
The Brother Rice Crusaders opened up the game with a 5-run first inning and finished up with a 14-2 victory over the Porters in 5 innings. The Crusaders held Lockport to 3 hits. Brother Rice took advantage of 10 Lockport walks and 4HR's to win the non-conference contest.

Bedwell powers Porter's past DGS
The Lockport Porters defeated Downers Grove South 7-2 at Flink field on a cool Monday afternoon. Dan Palac recorded the win with a 1 run 3 inning performance. Tyler Willis pitched 2 2/3 scorless innings to record the save. On the offensive end Tom Bedwell broke the game open in the 5th inning with a 3-run homerun as Rich Estes added two hits, and RBI and a run scored. The Porters will take on Brother Rice tomorrow 3/25 at 11:00 at Flink Field in Lockport.

Porters open 2008 season
The Lockport Varsity baseball team opened it's 2008 season with a 7-2 victory over Lemont at Flink field in Lockport. Sean Forte pitched three scoreless innings to record his 1st victory of the year. Sean finished with 5 K's and 1BB giving up only two hits. Eddie Stanislawski added two scorless innings of his own and Jon Cisna finished out the game with two innings and recorded the save. Offensively Steve Sabatino had two hits and a RBI, Mike Aguilar added a double and two runs scored. Tom Bedwell had the big hit in the 5th inning with a two RBI double. The Porters will visit Downers Grove North on Saturday 3/22.
The Sophomore team will take on Lemont tomorrow 3/20 at Flink field at 4:30pm.

The Lockport baseball program have made their picks for it's 2008 baseball teams for the spring season. All levels have selected it's teams during a very competitive try-out week. We would like to thank all the athletes who gave an outstanding effort during the week and hope that everyone continues to enjoy this wonderful game. Congratulations to all of the 83 players who made the roster for this upcoming season. Remember the easy part is over and that the work has only just begun. We hope all of you enjoy the journey of the upcoming 2008 baseball season.

Josh Stanton Commits To Central Iowa
Senior catcher Josh Stanton committed to Central Iowa on January 9th and will continue his playing career for the Dutch. Josh, who has been a starter for the Porters, will attend in the fall. Congratulations to both Josh and his family!

The Lockport Baseball program hosted it's annual Holiday camp this week. The camp was well attended and the participants were outstanding. The effort, coachability, and hustle from these kids was pure Porter pride and we would like to thank all of the participants for this. We would also like to thank the Varsity players for their time. Your enthusiasm, patience, and hard work did not go unnoticed. We invite all of you out to Flink field this spring and watch Porter baseball at it's BEST! Sabatino and Frigo Sign National Letter of Intent
Steve Sabatino and Mike Frigo signed their National Letter of Intent on Thursday to play Division I baseball in the fall of 2008. Sabatino inked his letter and committed to the University of Notre Dame. Sabatino, who will pitch for the Porters this spring and play 1st base, was very excited about his decision. Frigo will continue his playing career at Western Michigan in the fall. Frigo who will play either 3B or SS for the Porters this spring was very pleased with his final decision. Congratulations to both of these athletes and their families!
