Winning Streak Ends at Sixteen
Two potent offenses went to war. Unfortunately, the Sandburg Eagles came out on top snapping the Porters win streak at sixteen games. With the final score of 12-10, the Porters received offense from an abundance of players, but just received little support from their defense who committed four errors on the game.
The following players contributed hits, Brandon Sawin ( 1-3, HP, SB), Tyler McAdams (3-4, triple, 2R, 2RBI), Adam Hillebold (3-4, R, 2RBI), Justin Salvetti (1-4), Nick Obermeyer (3-4, double, 2R), Kyle Devries (1-1, triple), Jeremy Anderson (1-1), Matt DeGraw (1-1, RBI), and Kyle Billig (1-3, sac-fly, 2RBI). As the offense managed to score at least a run every inning the Porters couldn’t slow down the Sandburg bats.
Between timely errors by the defense and the bats of the Eagles, Nick Davito and Ricky Hermosillo struggled to keep the Eagles off the board.

Seventh Inning Rally
With a late surge of offense the Porters were able to pull off a victory over Plainfield North in the bottom of the seventh inning to extend their win streak to sixteen games. Down six to five in the bottom of the seventh, Tyler McAdams and Adam Hillebold were able to drive in the tying and winning runs.
Others contributing offense were Brandon Sawing (2-4, R), Josh Altmann (1-3, 2R, BB), and Tony Russo with an RBI sac fly.
The pitching was held down by Danny Bauer (4inn., 1R, 2K), Nick Davito (1inn., 0R), and Brandon Sawin (1inn., 0R, 2K). The Porter defense made three errors.

Two Hit Shutout by Hermosillo
Ricky Hermosillo dominated the game on the mound from the very first batter. Hermosillo only allowed two hits the entire game and struck out nine batters. Behind the strong performance of Hermosillo, the Porters cruised away with another conference win over Bolingbrook 12-0.
Tony Russo continues to swing a hot bat driving in game changing RBI’s with two outs. Also contributing on offense was Brandon Sawin (triple), Josh Altmann (triple), Tyler McAdams, Adam Hillebold, & Justin Salvetti. The Porter defense committed one error on the game. This extends the Porters win streak to fifteen games.

Win Streak Extends to Fourteen
The Freshman Porters defeated Bolingbrook 10-0 in five, improving their conference record to 8-0. Every starter on this day turned in at least one hit. The following players had multiple hits: Brandon Sawin, Austin Mastela, Adam Hillebold, and Ricky Hermosillo. Josh Altmann crossed the plate for three runs.
Nick Davito pitched four scoreless innings for the win and Danny Bauer pitched the final scoreless inning for the hold. The Porters defense bounced back impressively, only committing one error. This improves the Porters conference record to 8-0 and their overall record to 16-2, extending their win streak to fourteen games.

Mastela In The Clutch
With an outstanding pitching effort and timely hitting, the Freshman Porters captured their seventh conference win to maintain an unbeaten record (7-0). It was the bottom of the seventh with the game tied 3-3, when Brandon Sawin lead off the inning with a double. Then Josh Altmann laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to set the table for Austin Mastela, and like usual fashion, Austin drove in the winning run with a base hit up the middle to secure the 4-3 win over the pesky Stagg squad. Another key performer was Tony Russo who came up with a big 2 out base hit in the 2nd to drive in 2 runs.
The outstanding pitching performance was turned in by Robbie Walus (7Inn., 3R, 6K, 1BB). The Porter defense struggled, committing five errors.
This extends the Porters win streak to thirteen games giving them an overall record of 15-2.

Russo Comes to the Rescue
Fighting the weather and a strong Naperville Central program, the Freshman Porters squeezed out a win in the final inning. With the game tied 7-7 in the top of the seventh inning, Tony Russo, down in the count 1-2 with two outs came up with the game winning hit to put the Porters up 8-7. Ricky Hermosillo, with a consistent performance (5 2/3Inn., 6R, 7K, 0BB) collected the no-decision. Nick Davito (1 1/3Inn., R, K, 0BB) came in to grab the win. Other key offensive performances included: Nick Obermeyer (2-4, R, 2RBI’s), Ricky Hermosillo (2-4, double, RBI), and Josh Altmann (2-4, R). Others contributing hits were: Brandon Sawin (2R), Justin Salvetti (double, R, RBI), & Tyler McAdams (winning run, BB, HP). The Porters finished the game defensively with two errors. This extends the Freshman Porters win streak to twelve games.

A Rampage of Offense Puts Away JCA in Five!
The Freshman Porters took down JCA in five. The Porter offense exploded in the third inning (8 runs) and fourth inning (7 runs) to capture a 16-3 win over non-conference rival Joliet Catholic Academy.
Once again, the offensive production (12 hits in total) was a team effort lead by Brandon Sawin (4-4, 3R, 2RBI’s, SB) and Nick Obermeyer (2-3, 2R, RBI). Others contributing hits were, Josh Altman (Sac Bunt, R), Austin Mastela (double, 2R, RBI), Tyler McAdams (2R, RBI, BB, HP), Adam Hillebold (R, RBI, BB), Tommy Hook (2R, 2BB), and Tony Russo (R, RBI).
Brandon Sawin (5Inn., 3R, 4K, BB) collected the win with a dominating performance showing some of his best stuff of the season. The Porter defense committed their lone error in the third inning. This extends the Freshman Porters win streak to eleven games.

Win Streak at Ten
The Freshmen win streak extended to ten games after the Porters put away Andrew in five innings by the score of 18-2 for another conference win. The offense was lead by Austin Mastela (2-4, double, 3R, RBI) and Justin Salvetti (2-4, double, 2R). Also contributing hits were Brandon Sawin, Josh Altmann (3BB), Tyler McAdams, Adam Hillebold, Tommy Hook, Nick Obermeyer (double), Tommy Isherwood, and Sam Stramaglia. The Porter offense also managed to pull 7 walks.
Robbie Walus (4Inn., 2R, 4K, BB) earned the win, while Matt DeGraw (1Inn., 0R, K, 2BB) came in for the hold. The Ported defense committed 3 errors.
Friday, April 24
Offense Continues to Sizzle
The freshmen continue their win steak (9 games) by adding another conference win to their record by beating Bradley Bourbonnais 12-2. Once again, the Porter offense lead the way with outstanding offensive performances by Justin Salvetti (2-2, 2R, 2SB), Austin Mastela (2-4. R, 2RBI’s), and Tyler McAdams (2-4, 2R, RBI, SB). Also contributing hits were Brandon Sawin, Adam Hillebold (triple), Tommy Hook, Nick Obermeyer, Sam Stramaglia, and Tommy Isherwood.
The winning pitcher was Nick Davito (5Inn. 2R, 3K, 2BB). The Porters did not commit a single error.
Friday, April 24
Porter Offense Leads the Way
A huge offensive day from the Porters leads them to a two game sweep over Minooka. In game one, the entire team contributed offense: Justin Salvetti (4-4, double, 2R, 2RBI’s), Ricky Hermosillo (3-3, double, 3R, 4RBI’s), Austin Mastela (2-4, double, RBI), Tony Russo (2-3, double, 2R, 2RBI’s), and Nick Obermeyer (2-4, R). Also contributing hits were, Brandon Sawin, Tyler McAdams, Adam Hillebold, and Tommy Hook.
Pitching in the first game was Ricky Hermosillo (4Inn., 7R, 3K, 2BB) who earned a no decision and Danny Bauer (3Inn., 1R, K) received the win. The Porter defense only committed one error.
In game two, the offense continued to do its damage by scoring ten runs, allowing the Porters to pull off another two game sweep by winning the second game by the score of 10-3. Leading the offense in game two were Ricky Hermosillo (3-4, triple, 3RBI’s) and Tyler McAdams (2-4, triple & double, R). Also contributing hits were Tommy Hook, Adam Hillebold, Tommy Isherwood, and Danny Bauer.
Collecting the win on the mound with an outstanding performance was Matt DeGraw (5Inn., 2R, K, 2BB). Finishing the game in relief was Dave Pruim (2Inn., R, 3K, BB). The Porter defense again only committed one error. With good defense, timely hitting, and pitchers throwing strikes the Freshman Porters are continuing their winning ways.

Road Win Over H-F
Another conference win for the Porters came after an 11-3 win on the road. The eleven runs scored by the Porters were due to a team effort in which every starter collected at least one hit. Hitting for extra base hits were, Austin Mastela (double & triple) and Nick Obermeyer (double).
Brandon Sawin (4Inn., 3R, 3K, 2BB) earned the win and holding on to the lead was Robbie Walus (3Inn., R, BB).
Defensively, the Porters recorded two errors on the game.

Porters Take Down Lincoln Way East
The freshman Porters added another conference win to their record after knocking off Lincoln Way East 10-5 at home. The offense was lead by Justin Salvetti (2-4, double, 1R, & 2RBI’s), Austin Mastela (1-3, 2R, 2RBI’s, 1BB), Brandon Sawin (1-3, double, 2R, 1BB), Tyler McAdams (1-3, R, BB), Adam Hillebold (1-2, R, 2RBI’s, 2BB), Tommy Hook (1-3, R, 2RBI’s, BB), and Nick Obermeyer (2-4, R, RBI).
Nick Davito (4 2/3Inn., 4R, K, BB) picked up the win supported in relief by Ricky Hermosillo (2 1/3Inn., R, 2K, BB).
As a team, Lockport committed a total of two errors.

Porters Surge Past Lincoln Way Central
Outstanding pitching performances by Robbie Walus with the win (5 2/3 IP, 6R/3ER, 12H, 0BB, & 5K) and Nick Davito with the save (1 1/3 IP, 0H, 0R, 1K, 1BB) allowed the freshman Porters to collect their second conference win with a 9-6 victory over Lincoln Way Central.
Offensively, the Porters were lead by Tyler McAdams (2-4, double, 2R, RBI, & BB), Austin Mastela (1-3, double, 2R, RBI, & BB), Tommy Hook (1-2, 2R, & 2BB), and Nick Obermeyer (2-4 & R). Also contributing was Adam Hillebold with an RBI sac fly and Danny Bauer recording a base hit with a walk.
Monday, April 13
The Sweep
With a burst of momentum the freshman Porters swept a double header from St. Laurence High School. After being down four runs to none, the Porter offense began to chip away at the strong starting pitching in game one from St. Laurence. After scoring two runs in the fourth inning, the Porters eventually took the lead by scoring eight runs in the sixth inning, bringing the final score to 10-5.
The offense was lead by Josh Altmann (3-5, 2R’s, and 2RBI’s). Also contributing was Rick Hermosillo (2-2, R, RBI), Tommy Hook (2-4, RBI, SB), Tyler McAdams (1-3, R, RBI, BB, SB), Adam Hillebold (1-2, R, RBI), Justin Salvetti (single and run), and Robbie Walus (Double).
Brandon Sawin lead the Porters both on the mound and at the plate. As well as reaching base safely four times on four walks, Salwin (6IP, 6H, 4R, and 4K) recorded the win with an outstanding effort.
In the back end of the double-header the Porters ran away with a five inning victory scoring 18 runs while giving up none. Offensively, the Porters all contributed while Danny Bauer and Matt DeGraw combined for five scoreless innings.
Monday, April 13
The Comeback Story
The Freshman Porters added another W to the win column getting to .500 on the season with an amazing comeback. After being down 13 runs after the top of the fourth inning, the Porters began to make their offensive surge scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the fourth, a run in the fifth, and 6 runs in the sixth to take the lead.
Contributing to this offensive comeback included Brandon Sawin (2-4, BB, 2R, and RBI), Josh Altmann (3-5, 2B, 2R, and 2RBI’s), Austin Mastela (2RBI single and R), Tyler McAdams (Double and 2R’s), Nick Obermeyer (2RBI double and 3R’s), Tommy Hook (RBI and 2R’s), Tony Russo (RBI double, BB, and R), and two huge RBI pinch hit singles by Adam Hillebold and Justin Salvetti in the sixth inning.
After a shaky pitching start, the Porters were able to gain control of the West Aurora offense behind the arms of Tommy Isherwood and Rob Walus who only allowed one more run after the fourth inning.
Thursday, April 9
Freshman Porters Fall Short
The freshman Porters received their second defeat of the season, losing 5-3 to Brother Rice. Strong Crusader pitching allowed only 4 hits.
Leading the Porter offense was Austin Mastella (2/3,BB,2B,R,RBI). Also adding hits were Josh Altmann and Justin Salvetti.
Pitching for the Porters were Ricky Hermosillo (5IP,5R,9H,BB,5K) and Rob Walus (2IP,0R,0H,2K).
Defensively, the Porters committed 2 errors leading to 2 Br. Rice runs.

Freshman A Team Drops a Close One Opening Day
The Porter freshmen dropped a close one in the final inning after leading the entire game. The Porter offense was able to produce eight runs allowing them to take an 8-4 lead going into the final inning. Unfortunately, Lemont surged in the bottom of the seventh to score five runs and steal a win.
The Porter offense was lead by Josh Altmann (3-4, 2R, 2RBI's), Austin Mastala (2-4, 2R, RBI), and Brandon Sawin (3-4, 2R). Also contributing hits were, Adam Hillebold, Zach Wolfe, Tommy Isherwood, and Justin Salvetti.
After shaky beginning the Porters received a strong effort from Danny Bauer (3K, 5BB, & 3R) and middle releif from Matt DeGraw (2K, BB, & R).
Saturday, April 4
Strong Freshman Pitching Brings Home First Win
The Porter freshmen collected their 1st win of the season defeating Downers Grove North 6-2. On the hill, the Porters were dominating. Nick Davito (4IP, 5K, 1BB, 1ER) picked up the win while Brandon Swain (3IP, 6K, 0BB, 1ER) finished the game in relief.
The Porters defense had a strong game as well committing no errors. Offensively, the Porters were led by Robbie Walus (2/4, 1R) and Sam Stramaglia (2/3, 1R, RBI, SB). Rick Hermosillo also contributed a base hit. The Porters also drew 5BB's.
