As we enter our second year, Lori Drake moves from Head Coach to the role of President of The Port City Elite Showcase Girl’s Basketball. Having accepted the Head Women’s Basketball Coaching position at Cape Fear Community College (National Junior College Athletic Association), Lori has placed the Head Coaching position in the capable hands of Mike Langston. As President, Lori will organize and oversee all activities while maintaining a hands on role in the continuing development of our young women.
During our first season, 6 of our seniors signed to play collegiate basketball this fall: Rachelle Hutton – Greensboro College; Andrienne Bannerman- Erskin College; Raven Jordan- Erskin College; Carley Shafer – Valley Forge Military University; Shanita Hampton- Brunswick Community College; Kaitlyn Rohlfing- Fairmont State University.
Our Elite Showcase Team 2011/2012 is designed to help top area female basketball players get the exposure they need in order to continue their playing career at the collegiate level. We will attend NCAA sanctioned events, camps and clinics that will allow our young women to get quality exposure to college coaches and recruiters. We are also all about Skill Development; we want our players to make sure they are getting something out of this beside college looks. Athletes at this level need to make sure they are elevating their game above the high school level. Our practices are designed to improve their all around game with focused instruction on ball handling, shooting, passing, dribbling, post moves, footwork, court awareness, guard work, plays, and much more.
