PNLL League Information

Who Are We
The Palatine North Little League is an officially sanctioned Little League®  We are chartered and approved by the national Little League Baseball organization. Unlike many other youth baseball programs we are focused on teaching the game of baseball, good sportsmanship and having FUN!  For more information please contact us by phone or e-mail.

Division
The Palatine North Little League has 5 separate play divisions.

TEE-BALL - Ages 5 - 6
This is a non-competitive, instructional league. All games are 3 innings in length.  Scores are not kept in Tee-Ball games and there are no playoffs or all-star game for this division.  In the Tee-Ball division  Everyone in Tee-Ball  has a lot of fun.

COACH PITCH - Age 7
Here the kids hit a pitched ball from their coach. There are no playoffs in this division but we do keep score and there is an all-star game.

KID Pitch - Age 8
This is the age group where the kids begin hitting a ball pitched from another child. Like the Tee-Ball and Coach Pitch divisions we are still very much focused on teaching of the fundamentals of the game of baseball. Game scores are kept and there is an all-star game for this division. However, no division standing are kept and there are no playoffs in this division.

MINORS - Ages 9 - 10
This is a teaching focused, slightly more competitive division for 9 and 10 year old players. This is NOT a  try-out division. All players play at all positions. Teaching is still the focus here. This is the age group where division standings and playoffs begin.

MAJORS
PNLL Majors Division - The Majors Division consists of players league ages 11 and 12, and is open to 10 year olds who demonstrate sufficiently the skills needed to play at this level.   Evaluations are conducted for ALL players in this division. The Majors Division emphasizes learning and development, and encourages all players to play different positions. Division standings are kept and the season concludes with a double-elimination tournament. The players from each Majors team vote on representatives from their respective teams who play in our All Star Game at the end of the season.

The division your child will play in is determined by you child's age on April 30 of that particular season.

The Season
Practice begins right around April 1. Games begin around May 1 and finish around the last week of June. The Major and Minors divisions have their playoff's around the last week of June and Coach Pitch, Kid Pitch, Minors and Majors have their All-Star Games in the first week of July. We cap our season off every year with our annual family picnic and awards ceremony at the Twin Lakes Recreation Area around the second Saturday in July.

PRACTICES:
Practices in April usually take place once or twice during the week and once on the weekend (usually Saturday, rarely if at all on Sunday).  Weekday practices in April begin at 5:30 PM and usually last about 1 - 1 and 1/2 hours. Saturday practices are the same general length and take place at various time-slots during the day.

GAMES:
Weekday games are played at 5:30 PM (May 1 thru around June 1), 5:45 PM (starting around June 1 thru around June 15) and 6:00 PM (starting around June 15 thru the end of the season). There is usually one game during the week and another on Saturday. In some cases, usually toward the end of the season, there will be 2 games during the week and one on Saturday.

Tournament Teams
We also have competitive tournament teams for ages 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. These are try-out teams that play in local and regional tournaments and have the opportunity to compete for the Little League World Series held every year in Williamsport PA. The tournament teams start play in June and end their season sometime in August.

Here are just some of the benefits of playing baseball in the
Palatine North Little League.

Instruction

  • Our focus is on teaching the game of baseball, and good sportsmanship

  • Specialized coaches training -- Coaches are selected and approved by the PNLL Board of Directors and abide by a Code of Conduct. We work with local high school coaches to design a program to benefit developing young athletes. All adult personnel are submitted to a background check.

  • Trained umpires.

Play

  • Our regular season House League Play offers children a chance to have fun while they learn baseball the way it is meant to be played!

  • Guaranteed playing time -- Every player bats in order; every player must play every game a minimum number of innings in a variety of positions, including infield positions.

  • Ability-based system -- Players can begin with T-ball at age 5 and move through our Coach-Pitch and Kid-Pitch divisions as they are able. Players age 7 to 12 can try out for Minors and ages 9 to 12 can try out for Majors teams depending on their abilities and desires. Different ages playing together lets everyone learn from one another.

  • Only sanctioned Little League in the immediate area. We’re the only local team that can play in the Little League World Series like we did in 1978!

Tournaments and Events

  • All-Star Games -- Players elect their teammates to an All-Star team for fun games to showcase their talent.

  • Annual Awards picnic -- Season ends with our famous picnic designed to celebrate the season with fun and games. Every player is recognized individually. One player and one adult singled out for sportsmanship and service awards.

Tournament Teams

  • Palatine North Tournament Teams are among the best in the Northwest Suburbs!

"The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can't do." - Dennis Waitley
