2008 11-Year-Old All-Star Minnesota State Champions PNHLL CAPTURES 2008 STATE TITLE at 11-YEAR-OLD STATE TOURNAMENT Friday, July 25 PNHLL Title Game State Championship Recap The 11 year old team played Shoreview again on Sunday morning. Both teams had their top left handed pitchers on the mound. The game was close after two innings with PNHLL holding a 2-1 lead. Shoreview had scored on a solo homerun and PNHLL used aggressive base running from Josh Persson and Nash Brambilla to score from 2nd and 1st on an over throw. After 3 innings it was still close with a slim 3-1 lead for PNHLL. The 4th inning then saw the PNHLL bats heating back up like they have been the whole tournament scoring 3 runs to take a 6-1 lead including a solo shot from Evan Nolan (his 5th during all star play). The top of the 5th Shoreview got one run across and then PNHLL busted loose and started hitting the ball all over the field capped by a double by Ryan Casperson to drive in runs 11 & 12 to end the game in 5 innings 12-2. The coach for the team commented,"this team was amazing through districts and state, I kept waiting for their bats to cool off and they just didn't. Of the 11 games we played 10 of them we scored ten runs or more. For the 11 games we scored a total of 131 runs, that is just simply amazing considering the very strong competition we were playing against." Jordan Kuznia went the 5 innings on the mound for PNHLL pitching another great game. He also helped himself out at the plate as well with a couple of hits including a double to drive in the 3rd run. He also had 5 home runs during the all star games. A total of 13 homeruns were hit by the team in the 11 games. A great PNHLL crowd was on hand and their support was greatly appreciated by the team. It was a very exciting time and experience. "Winning a state tournament is very, very difficult especially when you have to come out of District 1 play with 20 very good teams to compete against." the coach for PNHLL noted. Adding, "This was a great thrill and experience for the kids and families. This is great for the whole PNHLL program; a lot of people have worked very hard for several years to give the kids this opportunity. We hope many other teams will have success in the coming years and have the opportunity to enjoy this experience as well."
Congratulations again to our 2008 11 year old All Star State Champions. Coaches: Jason Wibben, Jerry Persson
