Top 100 Songs of the year, 1950s to date
Ever notice how music brings back memories. You can go to this site and click on any year you want, starting from the 1950's, to see the list of the top 100 songs for a particular year (see column on left side). For 1984 one of the hit songs, appropriately enough, when you think about Power's closing, was "Say It Isn't So."
Lincoln Center
The intro to this site should bring back some memories.
Fordham University downtown
The picture on the site shows where Power once stood and the building that took its place. In my opinion, the Power building and the Power Gold Star Gym had more character than what is there today.
St. Paul The Apostle Church
Central Park
The Official Website for New York City's Central Park.
This site should bring back some memories. A nice section of the site is Virtual Park, toward the top left of the home page. Click on it and then click on a section of the park, like the South End and look to the right where it says "Highlights and Playgrounds" to see where you would like to visit - like Sheep Meadow, for instance.
Joseph Leavey: The Pleasure of Looking Up
Touching tribute to 9/11 Firefighter and Power alum Joe Leavey. Pictures of a very young Joe can be found in the track albums and there is also a picture of Joe in the 1991 reunion at Iona album.
Firefighter Lawrence Virgilio
Excellent tribute to Lawrence Virgilio, St. Sebastian's (Woodside, Queens)graduate of 1976 and PMA graduate of 1980. Click on "Lawrence Virgilio Fund" and "Queens Chronicle" at the bottom of the home page for more information about an exceptional person. I learned, to my surprise, when I read the articles, that we went to the same grammar school. The park that I grew up in was renamed in his honor.
