PMA: Welcome

Welcome to a Power Memorial Academy website
Well, it has been a while since I have updated the site. My apologies. There was a recent reunion on Saturday, October 25th, 2008 at Cathedral High School. It was a rainy night, but there was still a decent turnout, although not as many as in past years. There was talk of the possibility of a commemorative plaque. There was a nice turnout by the class of 1983, talk of scholarships, Power memorablilia to purchase (which sold quickly).

This website is dedicated to the Brothers, Lay Teachers, and students of Power Memorial Academy. The school no longer exists, but PMA lives on through the teachers, alumni, reunions, participation in the St. Patrick's day parade, and various websites devoted to Power

SITE UPDATED FEBRUARY 8, 2005 ADDING ALBUM DEDICATED TO 2005 MILLROSE GAMES.

This website, started in December 2003, grew out of my desire to share my Power memories with others. It started from a book that I made up of favorite photos that I had taken while at Power, and subsequently, at several reunions, as well as some truly excellent black and white track photos that I have, which were taken by Manning Solon at venues like Madison Square Garden, The Armory, and Van Cortlandt Park, and grew from there. I am trying to evoke for you as many Power memories as possible through the photo albums and the links found on this site. I went to Power from 1968 to 1972, but this site will not be limited to those years, will include other activities in addition to sports, and will also include some things that you and yours can use in your everday life.

I have found that some of the alumni that I have spoken with recently were either not aware of the Power websites and/or were not aware of the reunions. This website is also an effort, like the other Power websites mentioned below (which you can easily get to by clicking on them in the links section of this website), to bring the Power alumni together. I'm sure we have all thought about each other over the years but "life" just got in the way, we didn't know how to get in contact with someone, or many other reasons. Make the effort now. You and the person you contact will be glad you did. Please be aware that you still have friends from Power that care about you.

The Power Memorial Academy High School Web Site Home Page (official school site) can be found at:
http://www.powermemorialacademy.com/
which is maintained by Jose Rivera (Class of '75) in collaboration with Chris Nowak (Class of '70). This site has Alumni information, Up-Coming Events, Discussion Forums, a Photo Gallery, various links, including one to The Power Memorial Story by Vic Kaplan.

An Alumni Association has been formed to keep alumni advised of future activities, like the upcoming St. Patrick's day parade.

The original Power Memorial Academy page can be found at:

which is maintained by Chris Nowak in collaboration with Jose Rivera.

The Power Memorial Academy Track & Field Home Page can be found at:
http://www.geocities.com/pmatrack/CrossCountry.html
A very good site, which is maintained by Bruce Geaniotis (Class of '77).

Furthermore, there are now over 2,000 alumni listed on classmates.com.

Thanks to late Richard V. Coppolino for his much appreciated efforts in keeping the memory of Power alive through the many reunions that he put together.

A special thanks to Ed Walsh and Ray Naudain for providing some of the reunion photos, and to Kevin McGeary for supplying some of the Power memorabilia, that appear in the album section of this website.

Some of the Power teachers and alumni are no longer with us, but they will always be in our hearts and we will always remember all the good times that we had with them.

This site is a labor of love, pure and simple, and I will try to make it the best it can be - to honor PMA.

Thank you,
Tom Cullen, Class of 1972

Power Alma Mater

All hail to Alma Mater
Whose name we all revere
No one can shake our trust in her
Whom we hold so dear.
And may we always win for her
Renown and richer fame,
To crown her now and through the years
To magnify her name.

Loyalty and fealty we pledge to Alma Mater
We'll be true, we'll be loyal
We'll be faithful sons of Power.

Come lift your voices proudly high,
Come watch our banners rise!
All other banners must descend
When Power's banner flies.
And ever will we proudly hail
Our God and freedom's way.
For Christ the King, His mother too
To honor PMA.

We Are the Champions
