Fatburger continues to make a name for itself in 2006!
The 2006 Ballclub was once again able to push the bar higher for single season wins. The pitching staff fueled by Seniors Tucker Seitz, Kelsey Best, Tyler Clay and Juniors Nick Hemphill, Travis Bradshaw, Craig Schultz, Erik Hedberg and Graham Heuther. Tucker Sietz pitched a no-hitter against Seattle Braves in the Shockers 4th of July Tournament. Kelsey Best threw a complete game two-hitter against the Seattle Stars in the State Tournament, to bad he was matched up against Jake Peavy. Tyler Clay also tossed a complete game shutout against Laces in the Shockers 4th of July Tournament. Travis Bradshaw, Nick Hemphill and Craig Schultz also thru complete game W's throughout the season. A key injury to Graham Heuther hampered his contributions but Graham contributed alot early in the season. Fatburger's offense was terrific the top of the order Tyler Clay, Ryan Shelton and Cameron Akita set the tables time and time again. Senior second baseman Nick Pirtle led the team in RBI's with 46 and First Baseman Erik Hedberg was right behind him with 42 runs batted in. Taylor Hudson hit a ball out of OSU that is still going! Senior Daniel Bunger contributed greatly down the stretch from the plate and on the mound. Fatburger flashed the leather all summer long. With one of the best defensive outfields in the state and in Fatburger's history Tyler Clay, Cameron Akita, and Ryan Shelton were lights out. The infield was led by SS Travis Brittingham who really played well the last month and half. Nick Pirtle threw in a couple web jems and Matt Stariha turned in a huge defensive play against the Shockers in Pullman. The catching position was riddled with injuries. Senior Catcher Braden Davis was finally healthy by the middle of the season and Tyalor Hudson was banged up with Football so for almost a month Sophmore Catcher Chris Brinton stepped in and did a great job. Although Fatburger was unable to win a tournament this team showed great character and never gave up. This group should be proud of success they had this season. Most importantly this collection of talent played as a team and were a joy to coach. 12-8 in tournament play is nothing to sneeze at and finishing in the top six in league play to qualify for State Tournament was outstanding. We will miss the Seniors and wish them the best of luck with their future. Fatburger has a good foundation for the 2007 Season. Have a great rest of the summer! 1-2-3 FAT!
