The end of a Era and the beginning of a new one!

In 2003 Fatburger set out to make a name for itself, and our players did just that winning games, tournaments, and playing great baseball.  We accomplished alot!!  The memories the friendships forged will last a life time. It was a great experience and I know alot of us enjoyed the ride.  The players & families who made Fatburger Baseball will never be forgotten.  I want to thank everyone for the support of the years, I have been blessed by coaching such great players and getting to know wonderful families.  This year we decided to switch sponsors.  It has taken a little getting used to, so many memories and ties with Fatburger Baseball.  We are now Toyota Baseball, sponsored by Michael's Toyota.  It was not an easy decision but we wanted to provide more coaches for our ballplayers and other things as well.  I hope that everyone who was apart of Fatburger Baseball will venture out to a game.  We still have the same mission:  Play to be seen not heard and show we can play with anyone!!    The players on the current roster:  toyotabaseball.com went thru tryoyuts as Fatburger Baseball, they want to be apart of what the past players had started.  The name has changed but we hope our almuni will still show support.  So for one last time  1-2-3  FAT!!!!!!

Fatburger finishes 3rd in Big Fat Deal

Fatburger's seven game winning streak came to an end Monday afternoon as the Seattle Braves defeated Fatburger in the semi-finals.  The Braves went on to win the tournament over Eastside Baseball 8-7.  Fatburger finished the tournament 4-1.  Great effort by all the players.  We wish outgoing players Chris Brinton, Joe Ledbetter, and Travis Bradshaw the best of luck.  Thank you for a great season! Chris and Travis have contributed alot over the last three seasons.  Joe Ledbetter did a great job coming back from almost two years off from surgery thank you Joe for your dedication and leadership thoughout the season.

Fatburger moves into final 4!

Behind the arm of Travis Bradshaw, Fatburger secured a spot in the final four with a 5-2 win over the Nationals.  Thank goodness for great pitching!  The Fatburger offense was stuck in neutral most of the game but managed a few runs here and there.  But a W is a W so off we go to the semi-finals.  Fatburger will take the field against the Seattle Braves at 3pm.  If Fatburger wins then we would turn right around and play in the Championship game at 6pm.  GO FAT!

Saturday, August 2
Fatburger wins two more in pod play!

Fatburger took the field early and late on Saturday.  After rain twice rained out a game against Wilkinson things finally got under way Saturday morning at 9am.  Fatburger starter Ryan Vernon pitched six innings and Michael Russo closed out the 8-5 win.  Fatburger and the Seattle Braves closed out pool play Saturday evening.  The Braves scored two in the top of the first, but Fatburger came right back with a 4-spot in the bottom of the inning.  The Braves inched closer 4-3 but Fatburger opened things up with a 4-run inning and adding another to produce a 9-4 win.  Starter Ryan Kopp went the distance.  Fatburger finishes pool play 3-0 and takes on the Nationals on Sunday afternoon. at 3pm  GO FAT!!

Fatburger wins opener of Big Fat Deal

After the rain washed out Tuesday night's game vs Wilkinson, Fatburger took the field Wednesday afternoon against Eastside Baseball Club.  EBC took an early 1-0 lead in the first.  Starter Tyler Kurfess worked his way out of a bases loaded jam allowing only the one run.  Fatburger even the score in the bottom of the first and took a 3-1 lead into the sixth.  Reliever Ryan Kopp pitched the fifth and sixth.  EBC threatened to tie the game in the sixth but Kopp got a pop out and ground ball out stranding the tying run at third.  Fatburger plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Travis Bradshaw pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to earn the save in a 5-2 win.  Fatburger will make up the Wilkinson game Friday morning at 9am and close out pool play with a 6pm contest against the Seattle Braves.

Saturday, July 26
Closing time

Fatburger puts the finishing touches on the regular season.  Winning the last three games at home.  Ryan Kopp & Travis Bradshaw combined on a 1-hitter versus Wilkinson.  The only hit--a slow ground ball.  Sean Murphy RBI single, Eric Ninomiya RBI single and suicide squeeze by Brian Grina produced Fatburger's final run. Fatburger wins 3-1.

Fatburger welcomed the Vancouver Coyotes to Eastlake on Saturday afternoon.  Tyler Clay was up to the task in the first game pitching a complete game.  Tyler was a little rusty but got into one heck of a groove...Mr. Clay struck out the side in the 1st, 3rd and 7th innings.  Also, striking out five in a row twice!! Setting a new Fatburger Record: 18Ks!!! Wow!  Sophmores Russo & Cavanaugh drove in 2 runs each, Nolan Thomas chipped in a two-run single and Sean Murphy scored twice and drove in another.  Fatburger wins 9-3.

In the night cap Fatburger jumped out to a 4-0 lead but watched as the Coyotes put 3 on the board in the third off starter Tyler Kurfess.  Fatburger repsonded with three runs in the bottom of the third.  Jacob Carpenter pitched the next inning and a third. Russo took the hill with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth.  Fatburger clinging to a 7-5 lead Russo struck out the next two batters and closed out the last two innings earning the save. Fatburger was led offensively by Sophmore Matt Dusche 2-run double and Junior Ryan Kopp 2-3 2RBI.

Fatburger now turns it's attention to the Big Fat Deal starting Tuesday @ Eastlake HS. GO FAT!

Young Guns

Roberts
A few years back a group of young pitchers began a journey together not knowing what was ahead of them.  Chris Roberts, pictured, along with Ryan Pearman and Matt Worthey. Helped build the pitching staff in 2003.  The first Fatburger team.  Throughout all the fun times and leaving opponents stunned a pitching staff of workhorses came and went.  Taking the ball everytime out and giving the opponent everything they could.  In the end most of the time Fatburger was victorious.  The 2007 was a roll-coaster ride.  Ending the way most of the past four seasons have ended: playing well and coming together.  However, we lost sight of what made us who we are: A team united for one purpose, show everyone we belong with the big boys.  The end of the 2007 Season saw some seniors reach back one more time down the stretch to do just that as Nick Hemphill, Travis Bradshaw, Tyler Clay, Kelsey Best and Erik Hedberg gut out alot off innings.  Because they wanted to and had to. The 2008 season signals a changing of the guard.  Gone are alot of familiar names.  What will the next round of young arms produce?  Well for one they all have talent and arm strength so the next questions are composure and drive.  Carpenter, Houghton, Russo, Kopp, Murphy, Shafer, Vernon and Price could make into a very diverse staff.  Teamed with workhorse Travis Bradshaw this group could make some rumblings early.  The season is only a few months away.  Signs of spring are happening....well maybe in AZ but soon here as well!  Stay tuned Fatburger faithful..the FAT TRAIN is just starting to get fired up!  In the coming weeks we will take a look at the players taking the field for the 2008 campaign.

Fatburger Rolls On!

Eleven days ago the season seemed to be well...lost! But the group left standing has play inspired baseball. Thursday was no different. Senior Pitcher Travis pitched a shut-out and Chris Brinton's late solo homerun was the enough to propel Fatburger to the win. In the second game Hemphill took the mound and tossed zeros for six innings. Back-to-back shutouts. Fatburger used double digit walks and some clutch hitting to win 8-0 in six innings. Fatburger takes the field against Baden on Tues @ Eastlake and then closes the regular season out with two double headers next weekend versus Honda & EBC @ Eastlake. Fatburger will then host the "Big Fat Deal" July 31 thru Aug 5. See you at the yard!

Monday, July 16
Fatburger heads home from Walla Walla

In a season that could be made for a TV movie Fatburger Baseball ventured over to hot Walla Walla. Senior pitchers Nick Hemphill, Travis Bradshaw and Erik Hedberg pitched great. Junior pitcher Joell Reyes contributed mightly as well pitching Fatburger into the Champioship round. Fatburger finished pool play 3-1. With the lone loss coming to King Nissan. Fatburger squared off against King Nissan in the semi-finals. But couldn't figure them out. Kelsey Best absorbed the loss. But Fatburger behind the great pitching of Nick Hemphill on the 3rd/4th place game 8-3 over the Washington Nationals. Joell Reyes had a two-run single in the first and Fatburger never looked back. This group has risen from ashes and has proved that a team playing together can play great baseball. Everyone should be proud of the 3rd place finish.
