Jesuit Gets the Best of the Wolves

Junior Varsity loses 2 – 0

The Jesuit Rangers came out strong Tuesday night putting the pressure on the Plano West defense.  The play was mostly on the West side of the field for the first twenty minutes of the half.  West Keeper, Michael Rossio, kept the Rangers off the board with an amazing diving save of a crossed ball that was destined for the corner of the net.  Late in the half, West made a push with no. 8, Adam Gannon, making a run from midfield to the Jesuit end line, with the keeper making the save.  The score remained 0 – 0 at halftime.

The second half started with Plano West playing tough and keeping the score tied.  With seventeen minutes left in the game, a West defensive miscue gave the ball to Jesuit in front of an empty Wolves goal, making the score 1 – 0.  Five minutes later, no. 16, defender Will Deltuva, protected an empty Plano West goal by clearing the ball.  In the sixty-fifth minute, no. 13, Jonathan Clanton, broke away and megged the Jesuit keeper who fell on the ball, saving the equalizing goal.  With only 30 seconds remaining, Jesuit scored on a shot from outside the West box, giving the Rangers the 2 – 0 victory.

Varsity goes down 3 – 1

On what turned out to be a cold Tuesday evening, Plano West put up a good fight, but ended up down 3 – 1 against top-rated Jesuit.  West came out fast with no. 8, Peyton Dekker, passing to no. 7, Trey Anderson, who took a hard shot from 20 yards out.  No. 10, Michael Hardesty, blocked a Jesuit shot on a wide-open goal after the West keeper had come out.  Thirteen minutes in, Plano West was awarded a free kick about 25 yards out.  The ball was put into the box and was passed back to no. 13, Abbas Rezaie, who shot it hard into the Jesuit goal, giving West a 1 – 0 lead.  Jesuit kept the pressure on the West defense the rest of the half.  West keeper, Trevor Lesauar, kept Jesuit off the scorecard with too many amazing saves to count.  West led at halftime, 1 – 0.

No. 8, Peyton Dekker, started the second half off with a run down the right side with a shot that hit off the post and went out.  Jesuit tied the score with a cross from the right corner, which was headed, into the West goal.  The Wolves tried to hang on, but ended up ceding two more unanswered goals, for a final score of 3 – 1.

JV Falls to Allen; Varsity Wins District Opener

Junior Varsity goes down 3 – 0

The Plano West Junior Varsity took on Allen Friday evening, losing 3 – 0.  Both teams came out determined, keeping most of the play between the 18-yard lines for the first 15 minutes.  Allen broke through with a cross behind the West defense which was put into the net, making the score 1 – 0.  Ten minutes later, Allen struck again with a cross, which was chested down, followed by a hard shot into the goal.  West tried to answer with five minutes left in the half when Tanner Vera put a free kick just over the Allen goal from about 25 yards out.  The Plano West boys came out strong in the second half with shots by Erick Aviala and Aaron Kim in the first 10 minutes of the half.  With about thirteen minutes left in the game, Allen once again crossed a ball which ended up in the West goal, making the final score 3 – 0.

Varsity Beats Allen 1 – 0

Plano West Varsity got the better of Allen High School Friday evening, 1 – 0.  Just seven minutes into the game Peyton Dekker took a hard shot, forcing the Allen keeper to make the save.  Fifteen minutes later Matt Pardee crossed a free kick, which West headed, to the corner of the goal, but the Allen keeper kept it out with a diving save.  With only 3 minutes left in the first half, Trey Anderson played a through ball that Satoshi Tatsumi put into the Allen goal, but the play was called back for offsides.  The play in the second half was back and forth.  West turned the heat up with about 10 minutes left when Satoshi took the ball from midfield to goal, with the Allen keeper coming out to make a sliding save.  West went ahead when Trey Anderson was taken down by the Allen keeper in the box and Win Porras converted on the penalty kick.  The Wolves held on for the final few minutes to earn the 1 – 0 victory.

Varsity – JV Split with Garland Naaman Forest

Junior Varsity Wins 1 – 0

The JV team started their season out with a win over the Garland Naaman Forest Rangers.  The game started on time with neither team taking control of the game.  With 4:30 minutes left in the first half, our Wolves were awarded a free kick.  Number 5, Tanner Vera, served the ball into the middle where number 7, Sahar Brown, put his head on it.  The ball went to number 13, Jonathan Clanton, who brought it down with his chest, to volley it into the back of the net, giving West a 1- 0 lead at halftime.

The second half was back and forth again with the Wolves hanging on to the lead.  Number 8, Justin Fu, almost made it 2- 0, with a hard shot just over the goal.  Naaman Forest desperately put the pressure on the last 5 minutes of the game.  West goalkeeper Michael Rossio came off his line with a sliding save with about 3 minutes left in the game to preserve the well-earned 1 – 0 win.

Varsity Goes Down 3 – 1 In Home Opener

With a cold front expected to move in later in the evening, the Varsity game started early at 7:15pm.  The Wolves looked to start strong, taking the game to the Rangers for the first 5 minutes.  The game settled down with neither team able to take control.  25 minutes into the game, number 8, Peyton Dekker crossed the ball to number 7, Trey Anderson, where the Naaman Forest keeper had to come out sliding to take the ball from Anderson.  5 minutes later, the Rangers took a hard shot which hit the West crossbar, but the play was called back for offsides anyway.  Naaman Forest kept the pressure on with a through ball, which got past the West defense.  The West keeper came out, but the ball was put past him into the side of the net, giving Naaman Forest a 1- 0 lead at halftime.

West came out strong again in the first minutes of the second half.  10 minutes in West took a shot, which went just wide.  With 25 minutes left in the game, number 9, Satoshi Tatsumi, took a shot, which hit the post.  Naaman Forest countered with a triple combination pass with the ball ending up in the back of the West goal, giving the Rangers a 2 – 0 lead with about 20 minutes left.  With only 10 minutes remaining in the game, number 7, Trey Anderson, took the ball from 12 yards out and buried it in the back of the net, making the score 2 – 1 and giving the team a spark of hope.  West tried to keep the pressure on the Ranger defense, but on a counter, with about 8 minutes left, Naaman Forest was awarded a penalty kick for a foul in the West box.  The Rangers converted, making the final score 3- 1.
