2002 Results
The Lightning started out the 2002 summer season at the State Tournament in Keene, NH over the weekend of June 28-30. The team fell to the NH Hurricanes on Friday night, and couldn't overcome the NH Grizzlies in another hard fought loss on Saturday afternoon in the double elimination tourney. The Lightning came within a run of beating the Hurricanes in a consolation game, but lost 2-1. The team looks forward to improving during the rest of the season and hopes to fare better at Bow and Gilford later on this summer.

Lightning 2001 Results
The Lightning kicked off the summer season by participating in the 18A State Tournament in Keene over the weekend of June 29-July 1. The team fell in the last inning to Pete's Dragon on Friday night, then dropped their second game to the NH Avalanche on Saturday morning. The team was disappointed to be ousted so early in the double-elimination tourney, but held on to win one of their two consolation games. They beat the Valley Thunder, then lost to the Rochester Slammers on that Saturday afternoon.

The Lightning fared better at the Bow Tournament over the weekend of July 13-15. The team fell to the teams from Rochester & Plymouth in their first two games, then came back to win 3 straight. They beat a team from Maine, then defeated both of the squads that they had previously lost to. The Lightning battled from 5th place in the pool play seedings to winning 2nd overall in the tournament. The team fell to Pete's Dragon in 8 innings in the championship game. Great job Lightning!

The team was originally scheduled to defend their title at the Gilford Invitational over the weekend of August 4-6. However, the Lightning opted not to attend the tourney for various reasons. Many of the players finished off the summer season as members of the 23U team at the ASA state and national tournaments. Congratulations on a great summer season Lightning!

Summer 2001

18A state tournament, Keene: June 29 - July 1

Summer 2000
The Lightning had a great 2000 summer season. They appeared at the 18A state tournament for the first time but were slightly disappointed with a 5th place finish. But they came right back to win both the Bow "Turn-2" Invitational and the Gilford Tournament later in the summer. Overall it was a fun and successful season.

2000 state tourney
The Lightning participated in the June 30-July 2 state tournament in Keene, NH. After winning their Friday night game, 4-0 vs. Peterborough, the team dropped their next two games on Saturday to the eventual champs, the Hudson Heat and their rivals (friendly rivals) the Hurricanes.Lightning finished in fifth position. Despite the fact that the team was unable to qualify for the New England Regionals, they're satisfied with their first appearance in the competitive 18A division. They hope to improve on their record next year, as well as do well at later tournaments this summer. Next on their tourney schedule is the Bow Invitational, Bow NH. Watch for updates!

Lightning strikes at Bow!
Wonderful weather and wonderful playing conditions combined to help the Lightning have a great weekend at Bow. Check out our scores and info on our games page. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Lightning take second tournament in a row
Just two weeks after being crowned the champions at the Bow Invitational, the Lightning won their final tournament of the summer season over the weekend of August 4-6. The team played 3 games on Saturday and 3 on Sunday to capture the Nor'easter Invitational. Highlights included wins over the Rochester Slammers, Nashua Nightmares (in extra innings), Connectict Challenge (also in extra innings), and the hosting Gilford Nor'easters in the championship game. This was the team's second straight tourney win, especially meaningful as the Lightning retired 3 veterans: Trish Robinson, Jen Albee, and Jody Voishnis.

Great job this summer to the entire Lightning team and coaching staff!

The Lightning wrap up their season
The win at the Gilford tournament was the last tournament action for the Lightning during the summer of 2000. The team is proud of their accomplishments, winning both of the tournaments they entered following a disappointing showing at the state tourney in mid-July. The Lightning wish luck to the 3 retiring players as well as to the team members who will be attending college in the fall. We'll be back next summer, ready to build on this year's success!

The season officially wrapped up with the end-of-season cookout held at the Smith Rec. Field in Plaistow on Sunday, August 20th, from about 4pm to 7pm. Members of all the Plaistow squads met for food, a parent vs. daughter softball game, an egg toss, and some awards. It was a great way to end the summer season!
