Pendleton to host Little League 12 Year Old State Tournament in July

District 6 Presidents,

The 2010 Indiana State Major Boys State baseball tournament will be held at Indiana District 6.   I would like to express my thanks to New Castle Little League, Pendleton Little League and Riverfield Little League for expressing an interest in hosting this tournament.  Each league was energized about the opportunity to host the state tournament during our meetings.  I believe either one of these leagues would have been a solid choice to host the state tournament, as each one had attractive attributes in its proposal.

It is my privilege to announce that Pendleton Little League has been selected as the host site for the 2010 Indiana Major Boys State Baseball Tournament.  The tournament will be a 14 team/district tournament beginning on Saturday July 24th and concluding on Thursday, July 30th.

Thanks,

Don Mason, IN D-6

District Administrator

2nd Annual Purdue Youth Baseball Camp & Indoor Games
On December 27th & 28th the Purdue baseball team will be holding the 2nd Annual Purdue Youth Baseball Camp & Indoor Games.  Last year the event was well attended by young baseball players from around Indiana and the surrounding states.

The camp features coaching from the Purdue baseball coaches as well as other college coaches.  It is designed for baseball players ages 8-12.  Each day the campers will participate in multiple, full field games while also learning baseball specific techniques in regards to hitting, pitching, throwing, catching and running.  The camp is held in the 92,000 square foot Mollenkopf Athletic Center on our campus.  This is a unique opportunity to young baseball players to play a full sized baseball game in December.

Registration for the Purdue Youth Baseball Camp & Indoor Games takes place at www.BlackandGoldBaseball.com.  There you can also learn more details about the camp.  It is designed to be a two-day camp but there is a one day option as well.  Each participating camper will receive a Purdue Baseball hat as well as a Purdue Baseball T-Shirt.  There is no additional charge for any coach or administrator of Pendleton Junior Baseball to attend the camp and listen in on the instruction throughout the camp.

Help us win $2500 from Liberty Mutual!
Liberty Mutual is awarding $2,500 community grants as part of its Responsible Sports program championing and celebrating responsibility in youth sports.

Here's how it works:

* Every person who completes the online Responsible Coaching or Responsible Sport Parenting course and the 10-question review quiz earns one point. The twenty (20) organizations around the country that get the most points will earn a $2,500 grant.

* Since we’ll only be competing against organizations of similar size (three separate divisions), we have a great chance to win! Of course, the more people we get to take the course and quiz, the better our chance of winning the Community Grant.

* Let’s all work together – for the kids, and for the $2,500 grant. Go to www.responsiblesports.com.  Complete the online quiz. Once you receive email verification of the quiz completion, select PJB as the organization you wish to receive the credit.  It's simple and takes 15 minutes or less.
