Pittsford Little League Certifying All Coaches as "Double Goal" Coaches
The Pittsford Little League Board of Directors approved a partnership with Positive Coaches Alliance (PCA) an organization that is working with Little League International and leagues like ours to, as their mission statement says "Transform youth sports so that sports can transform youth."
PLL volunteer Lou Dickinson is leading this effort for the league and managers were recently instructed on the fundamentals of Positive Coaching Alliance and given information to become certified as a "Double Goal Coach" via an on-line course and certification process.
A "Double Goal Coach" is defined as "one who strives to win and works to prepare his/her team to play at its highest level, and, at the same time, teaches life lessons (teamwork, dedication, bouncing back from mistakes, etc.) to his/her players."
They will be instructed in ways to teach things like "honoring the game", redifining "winner" and "filling the emotional gas tank".
