Pittsburgh Spirit College Showcase -- October 9 2009

COLLEGE SHOWCASE INFORMATION
The October 9 2009 College Showcase has been cancelled due to unusually low participation. Full refunds will be sent.
Statistical Results from our 2008 Showcase is available under the "Handouts" section of this website.
The 2009 Showcase was to be held from 4:00 to 7:30 pm on Friday October 9th at the Zelienople Athletic Fields in Zelienople Pa - 25 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Directions are available under the Handouts section of this website. If weather prevents us from holding the Showcase - refunds will be made to the participants. It is being held in conjunction with the NSA Softball Tournament on October 10 & 11 - see www.nsawpa.com for tournament information and tournament entry forms. Registration for the Friday Individual Skills Showcase is separate from the registration for the Saturday and Sunday tournament and the entry forms are in the Handouts section of this website. If you have trouble downloading the forms -- please e-mail us and we will e-mail the forms to you. You do not have to play in the tournament on Oct 10/11 to enter the Skills Showcase. The schedule is (which is subject to change up until the event -- please check back periodically):
Hitting (Field 2): 4:00 to 5:00
Base-running (Field 1): 4:00 to 5:00
Catching (Field 1): 5:00 to 6:00
Outfield (Field 2): 5:00 to 6:00
Infield (Field 1): 6:00 to 7:30
Pitching (Field 2): 6:00 to 7:30
The Registration Form for individual skills competition, Player Profile Form and Medical Release Form are available under the "Handouts" section of this website. If you have trouble downloading please e-mail us and we will send you the form(s). The entry form, a signed medical release form, a completed player profile and a check need to be submitted by October 1st. This information should be sent to Rich LeViere 607 Center Avenue Pittsburgh Pa 15202. Information for the Saturday/Sunday tournament and the entry registration process directions are on the NSA web site at: www.nsawpa.com. You can also register at the Showcase -- but getting the information to us by October 1st will assure that the college coaches get it. Players should wear their uniform shirts with their numbers.
The Showcase will include both individual drill stations: hitting, pitching, catching, infield and outfield play, and baserunning. Various statistical information will be collected and provided to the college coaches (such as pitching speed, throwing speed, base running times, etc.) The cost is $25 per event with a $100 maximum total.
Team Coaches should also prepare a College Showcase book for their team with a copy of the roster and individual player profiles for each player and bring sufficient copies for the college coaches. If you have trouble downloading please e-mail us and we will send you the form(s).

The Showcase objectives are:
-Provide an opportunity for college bound students to be simultaneously evaluated by many college coaches
-Provide an opportunity for prospective college bound players to hear from college coaches about topics such as recruiting strategies, academic requirements, conditioning and attitude.
-Provide a service to college coaches to see many elite athletes at one time
-Create a professional recruiting atmosphere
-Promote the sport
-Provide an efficient and cost effective recruiting opportunity for players and coaches
Showcase Booklets will be prepared by each team which should include a team roster and player profiles containing personal (graduation year, QPA) and playing/athletic information, etc. for every player. Examples are under the "Handouts" section of this website.
