The Pittsburgh Spirit DIFFERENCE: It is quite simple and impactful!  Our Player Development Program (see the related section of our website) that is modeled after successful college and US Olympic softball team practices which is consistently applied to all of our teams (you don't have to worry about different skills/techniques being taught by different teams, ages or coaches); and our dedicated indoor and outdoor training facilities for which we spend over $30,000 each year.  We have won three National Championships using this approach.  These result in maximizing player development and higher success/winning percentages at tournaments.  We have followed this approach since our beginning in 1998.  Other organizations come and go - our unmatched player development program and success contribute to our longevity!

Rich LeViere (President and 16U & 18U Teams)

The Pittsburgh Spirit Fastpitch Softball Organization is Western Pennsylvania's leader in quality fastpitch travel teams since our beginning in 1998. The organization develops well-rounded, team-oriented players who excel at the highest levels of competition. The Spirit organization's driving philosophy is to maximize the development of the player's skills (both individual and team) by providing a world class practice/drill environment with year round indoor and outdoor dedicated practice facilities. We spend over $30,000 each year on dedicated indoor and outdoor training facilities - including an outdoor field for our sole use during the season. We combine this with promoting a positive attitude in all situations--in victory and defeat--both on and off the field. We are humble in our victories and accept our losses with dignity--we teach that a positive attitude is the best approach for everything in life.

Our coaches attend annual national coaching programs where they learn from the leading Division I college coaches and olympians about the latest drill/practice routines and game strategy.

Our dedicated indoor winter practice facilities include: (a) areas for pitching and fielding practice, and eight batting stations with two "jugs" pitching machines during the week; and (b) an indoor sports dome facility on Sunday mornings providing two full size practice fields that allows us to run scrimmages and full field practices, with additional separate practice drill areas. During the spring and summer months we have a dedicated lighted outdoor field.

The Spirit teams win approximately 70 to 90% or more of their games and all of our teams qualify annually for National Championship Tournaments for ASA, PONY or NSA. For information on our three National Championship teams please see the "History" page by clicking on the left side of this page.

Our teams attend, among others, tournaments in Pennsylvania (State Championships), Ohio (Sluggerfest), Michigan (Compuware) and New York (Aunt Rosie's). We also plan to qualify and send our teams to National Championship tournaments at the end of each season.

In 2015, we are fielding a total of eight teams (one 10U, two 12U, three 14U, one 16U and one 18U) as set forth below.
