Friday, August 28 League Meeting Notes: REALIGNMENT! ROSS TWP, PA - The 2009 League Wrap-Up meeting was held and four major tasks were approved for 2010. Among them was approval for a realignment structure for the 2010 Summer Season. The approved realignment calls for two competitive levels: A and AA. Each League would require a mimimun of 4 teams in each to occur. The plan is to have one AA division consisting of the top four teams in the Pittsburgh NABA by record. That would place the Owlz, Black Sox, Ducks, and Hurricanes in the AA League for 2010. The Bombers, Bulldogs, Eagles, Gray Bats, Matadors, Oilers, Rebels and Warriors would then be split into two divisions within the A League. While all teams would continue to play each other during the year, the format provides for more games against teams of a similar level. The Playoffs were also altered to included a AA and a Single A Best of 3 Championship. These will be held in the week preceeding the Pittsburgh NABA Postseason Tournament. All teams are eligible for the postseason tournament provided they only forfieted two times or less on the year. Approval was given for retroactive progressive stipends for all approved league personell on a yearly basis. Directors who serve in their position for a calendar year will be eligible to recieve a stipend toward their next years' league dues. The budget guidelines and rules were modified to remove fields from league control, to the responsibility of the home team. Teams are now responsible for brining their own field into the league. They must provide the league two time slots a week for which to schedule their home games. The league will still assist teams in obtaining permits. Responsibity for cancelling games due to weather and rescheduling will also shift to the home team. Games that are not rescheduled are ruled forfeits by the league. The league still retains the right to assess a forfeit in instances when a game was cancelled that should have otherwise been played. Home teams can only cancel games due to poor field conditions. Appropriations were also made for a marketing budget of $400 to be created. The league expects to recoup this cost by the end of the 2010 season.
