Code of Conduct
COACHES, PLAYERS AND PARENTS
Pikesville Coaches are expected to maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism both on and off the field. A coaches primary responsibility is to develop soccer players and to instill a passion for the game. Your performance is not measured in wins and losses but in what you teach the players in terms of technique, sportsmanship, and fair play.
Players must understand that, when they are on the field, they are representatives of the Club, as well as their team, coach, parents and community.
Parents can have a significant impact, either positive or negative, on a child before, during, and after a match. Parents must remember that the game is for the children and should be treated accordingly.
Coaches Code of Conduct:
1. Coaches are expected to have a basic knowledge of the game and to pursue licensing that will allow them to better develop their players.
2. Coach by using positive reinforcement.
3. Exhibit good sportsmanship both on and off the field and should teach his/her players and spectators the rule of fair play and proper match behavior.
4. Always exhibit proper behavior while interacting with players at practice or in a match.
5. No foul or abusive language.
6. Never abuse a player mentally, orally or physically.
7. Never deliberately instruct any player to harm an opposing player or support, in any fashion, deliberate fouls causing bodily harm to an opposing player.
8. Respect the referees authority. The coach will not orally abuse or harass the referee or enter the field of play without the referee's permission.
9. Instruct the players on the sideline and spectators to never to enter the field of play during a game.
10. The use of alcohol or tobacco during practices or match play is forbidden.
Players Code of Conduct
1. Always exhibit good sportsmanship and a sense of fair play.
2. Treat all coaches, opponents, teammates, parents, and officials with respect.
3. Display self-control in all situations.
4. The use of foul or abusive language will not be tolerated.
5. Always play within the laws of the game.
6. Always shake hands with opponents at the conclusion of every match.
Parents Code of Conduct
1. Remember that the game is for the children and should be treated accordingly. 2. Exhibit good sportsmanship during a game.
3. Refrain from unsportsmanlike behavior on the sidelines.
4. Maintain a positive sideline demeanor. Act like an adult. Be positive, encourage all of the players, respect others, and be a spectator.
5. Do not berate coaches, referees, or other players.
6. Cheer positively for good play and fair play on the part of all players
7. Let the coach "coach," no matter how much you disagree with him or her.
8. Parents are not to coach from the sidelines, yell directions at players and/or make rude or profane comments from the sideline.
9. Do not provide negative encouragement to players, Do not find fault with the players efforts.
10. Do not badger, berate or dispute the referee calling of the game.
11. Do not badger or berate the opposing players and their coaches.
12. If you have a problem with your coach, do not approach him or her at time during the game site. Please contact the coach by phone away from your children.
