FROSH END FANTASTIC SEASON WITH CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP!

The Poway Frosh Softball team finished it's season the way it started it, winning games and championships!  Coaches Mike Snell and Lindsay Grosch led the team to a 20-2 record, the Grossmont JV Championship and an undefeated championship Palomar Conference season!  The team also distingusihed itself by going 7-2 record versus JV teams, a very impressive accomplishment.  Congratulations to the Titan Frosh and coaches for an outstanding season!

Li'ana Shows Poway Titan Toughness As She Fires One In Against El Camino!
Poway Frosh Whip Wildcats, Lancers No Show!

05/12/09

Today we find it is Liana’s turn in the pitching rotation. In addition to pitching a 4-inning shutout Li’ana helps the game out with another home run.  Not to be out done Stacy puts a HR in the books and Tiff bumps up her batting average with a triple. No defensive errors allow Poway to advance again with a 16-0 shut out win.

One sided, high scoring games are short games and El Camino frosh found that out when they were getting off the bus at their school, only to see PHS varsity getting on their bus after a victory over #1 ranked El Camino varsity.

No Room on the Bus

With Poway hosting Track and Field, there was not enough room on the school bus for the Carlsbad softball team.  The game is canceled and will not be made up. Next up is Vista at Vista.

Titans Reel Off Three More Wins and Outscore Opponents 44-4, Remain Undefeated in Palomar Conference Play!

Feeling the Power

Palomar League teams continue to see the power of the Poway Titans Frosh.  Ending the week with positive momentum the Frosh take it to RBV with their offensive punch. Nicole and Ashley J both go 4for4. Nicole demonstrates the power with a double and Ashley J shows the punch with 2 doubles and a HR. Tiffany goes 3-4. Emily, Li’ana, and Lexi combine for six more hits to knock RBV out 16-1.  Allowing only one run shows the continued success of our defense.  Next up is El Camino at home.

Titans Take It to Rival RB

RB put their best JV on the field as Poway flew by to win 14-3 at RB.  Titans continued to put the ball in play and that was the key to the win as they took advantage of the RB’s defensive errors. Frosh continue to be undefeated in league play.

Titans send Vista Packing

The Frosh team continues to be the unsung heroes as Vista found out.  The one two punch of Brianna and Megan resulted in 1 hit and 0 walks in 4 innings. The defense again plays a perfect no error game.  Emily led the offense going 3for3 with a double and Li’ana becomes the newest member of the HBP club. Poway wins 14-0

On the Road to Recovery!

Poway Frosh held their heads high as they marched into Carlsbad to continue their Palomar League play and bounced back from only their second loss of the season.  With Megan on the mound, Adrina behind the plate, and a strong defense on the field, Frosh added another shutout to their record.  Natalie went 3for3 with one of six team doubles and Stacy powered a HR to support the 17 total team hits as our offense continues to be very strong.

Poway Splits Double Header at PLHS JV

Playing where the grass don’t grow, theTitans find themselves on artificial turf at Pt Loma high school for a double header.  Ashley B played what might be her best game so far going 2 for 4 with a BB. Nicole went 2-4 with a lead off HR and Brianna helped her game with 2 doubles. The team had another great defensive game with no errors, and what is becoming common a shut out.  13-0.  Poway sent 31 batters to the plate and 26 got on. Poway suffered only their second loss of the season in the second ame of the twinbill as PLHS JV took the lead in the first inning and never looked back beating Poway 7-5.  Li’ana struck out 6 in 4 innings as Brianna closed the last two innings.  The team added Ashley J to the hit-by-pitch club as Emily tried to spark the offense going 2-4 along with Li’ana.  Maybe it was the salt air? Maybe it was the turf?

Only thing on the Titans mind now is getting ready for Carlsbad Tuesday.

Frosh Chalk Up Another Win

Today Poway came knocking at El Camino’s door and they let us in.  Megan on the mound throws a 2 hit, 9k, 0 walks game as the Titans continue their win streak with another shutout.  El Camino struggled as only one Titan struck out the whole game in a 20-0 win. Tiff becomes the newest member of the hit-by-pitch club.

Titans Welcome RBV to Poway

Coming off winning the Grossmont JV Tournament, Titans did not miss a beat. After RBV scored one run in the 1st.  Poway defense with Brianna on the mound only allowed one batter to get on base the rest of the game.  Erin provided the firepower, as she was one 3B from hitting for the cycle. Megan went 2for2 plus a BB. The Titans kept their game alive defeating RBV 11-1.

Titans Are Going to ‘The Big Show’ After Semi Final Victory!

Top of the first inning finds Poway down 3-0 to Santana's JV squad and changing up their defense.  In a back and forth battle on the field as well as at the plate, fans got to see the lead change 3 times until the bottom of the 7th. Poway led off at the top of their order with Nicole and Ashley J both hitting the ball to the grass.  Than with 1 out another hit by Stacy continues the attack and Lexi closes the door with a walk off base hit to advance Poway to the championship game.

April 6 2009

First in their pool

Refueled and ready to play, the Frosh continue their pool play against BV JV and with a 6-3 victory win their pool.  The middle of the batting order took charge with solid hitting as Lexi and Emily both hit 3B.

Brianna C pitches 6 inning and Brianna B is brought in to close the 7th inning.  The Titans now move onto the semi-finals.

April 6 2009

Poway challenged by errors

Megan goes to the mound against Grossmont JV but fielding errors leads to Poway’s first loss of the season 5-4. Ashley J 3 for 3 with a 2B and Stacy 2 for 3 was not enough to power the Titans past a solid Grossmont JV. Thank you also goes out to Coach Bennet who covered for our coaches for this game.

April 4 2009

Frosh open up the Grossmont JV Tournament with a win

Li’ana comes back from a hand injury to start on the mound and go 3 innings with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.  Breanna B (borrowed from JV) came in as relief and closed the last 2 inning with 4 strikeouts, 0 walks, and no hits. The power of the Titans was too much for Helix JV to overcome as Poway wins 14-2.

Titans Win Streak Continues

Game 5 has another home show as Fallbrook Frosh comes to town. Poway wins 15-1 by demonstrating great pitch selection and the success that will follow.  Nicole joins the HR club today.  Our offense had 0 strikeout (second time), 11 walks, and 14 hits. The Titan defense allowed only 19 batters in 5 innings behind the pitcher Brianna. Lexi leads the team in the category of  ‘taking it for the team’ as she has been hit by the pitcher twice in five games. (Ouch).   Next up is Christian JV at Poway High School.

  March 25 2009

La Costa visits Poway

Our first home game has La Costa Frosh learning what good coaching combined with hard work can achieve.  The Titans put another 10 hits in the books. Both Stacy and Natalie show the Poway power by hitting triples.  Megan shows that our pitching is deep and strong by pitching a 5 inning 13-0 shutout game. Megan pitched 7 strikeouts, 1 walk, and allowed only 2 hits.

 March 21 2009

Poway becomes a hitting machine

San Dieguito JV finds out that the bats are alive in Poway as the Titans combine with 21 hits, 4 walks, and 0 strikeouts. Brianna on the mound for 7 innings strikes out 7 and no walks also gets her bat going with a 2B. Tiffany shows how to play offense going to the plate three times with two hits and a sac bunt. Poway goes home with a 15-5 win.

March 12 2009

Titans step up against a tough Escondido team

Poway fires up the team bus again and this time we head to Escondido. Poway pitcher Brianna with a steady defense behind her throws a 3-0 shutout, with no walks and 4 strikeouts in 7 innings. Titans open their season against RB’s JV

Titans start the 2009 softball season at RB with a game against RB JV2.  Poway put together 15 hits including doubles by Erin and Emily and a 3 run homer by Li’ana.

FROSH TAKE GROSSMONT JV TOURNAMENT CROWN!!

Tiff-1
Tiff T. Scored the First Run in Titan's Championship Victory!

After their come from behind victory over Santana JV, Poway was on a roll going into the championship game against West Hills JV with hopes of starting a new tradition and winning this JV tournament.  With Coach Lindsey behind the wheel and Coach Bennett riding shotgun,  the Frosh Titans win 6-2 over West Hill’s JV.  In the second inning Poway takes an advantage of an attempted pick off by West Hills at 3B. An error put the ball into left field and Tiff scores. 1-0 Poway. The defense stayed solid with 13 put outs through 5 innings of play to keep the score unchanged.  Then Coach Lindsey put the pedal down in the 5th inning and the Titans respond by pounding out  7 hits and scoring 5 runs!  In the 6th inning with 2 runs scored by West Hills, a pitching change was made when Brianna C was running out of gas. Titans refueled with Breanna B. going to the mound and closing the 6th and 7th inning. This win was a true team effort that started at the first game of the tournament and finished with Poway Titans going home as Champions.
