5/19 vs. RB- The JV Titans finished with a 10-0 league record and captured the Palomar title with an impressive 9-5 win over RB.  Laurel D. pitched a complete game and came up big by getting out of one jam after another.  With the game scoreless in the top of the 3rd after Laurel stranded runners on 2nd and 3rd, Britnea B. hit a 2 run homer to right to give Poway a 2-0 lead.  They added to that with another 2 run homer by Kathyrn D. to make it 4-0.  After RB cut Poway’s lead to 6-4 in the fifth due to some uncharacteristic defensive miscues, Amber W. ran a long way into foul territory and made a great running catch to help preserve the lead.  Megan R. made a great throw to the plate to Cassi V. to cut down a Bronco trying to score that helped keep the 2 run lead for Poway. The Titans added some insurance runs with Lindsay P. leading off the sixth with a single and scored also hitting a sacrifice fly in the seventh, which scored Amber W who had singled.  Several key sacrifice bunts as well by Carly H. and Amelia L. that led to runs scoring.  It was a great team win and a great way to end a very successful season

5 /18 vs. Vista-  

            The Titans improved to 9-0 in Palomar League play as they defeated Vista 16-1 at PHS.  Brianna B was strong on the mound as usual and Kathryn D homered twice and Britnea B. homered along with a triple from Courtney A.  The Titans play for the Palomar League title tomorrow against RB.

Poway JV returned from spring break with a 3-0 victory over Torrey Pines.  Brianna B. ran her record to (5-0) with a 1 hit shutout striking out 15 Falcons.  Poway scored 2 runs in the first inning and 1 in the third.  Skooch S. walked twice and scored 2 runs.  Amber W. had 2 hits and an RBI.

Poway JV opened up league play with a decisive 9-2 win over RBV.  Britnea B. led the titan offense going 4 for 5.  A triple, 3 singles, 3 RBI and 2 Runs scored.  Amber W. got Poway off and running in the first with a clutch 2-out RBI double.  Carly H. had 2 hits, a double and an RBI.

3/21/09

Westview defeated Poway 1-0 scoring an unearned run in the 4^th inning.  Wolverine pitching held the Titans to only 2 hits as Poway had runners in scoring position several times.  Laurel D. was dominating again pitching a complete game striking out 5.

3/23/09 

Brianna B. pitched a 5 inning no-hitter throwing only 40 pitches as Poway defeated San Marcos 17-0.  Carly H. homered twice; Cassi V. and Britnea B. also had home runs for the Titans.  Skooch S. had 3 hits and scored 3 runs.

3^rd time is the charm as Poway got some revenge and defeated Westview 12-1.  Britnea B. doubled, tripled and drove in 3 runs to lead the Titan offense.  Amber W. had 2 hits and a double.  Backed by solid defense, Laurel D. and Brianna B. combined to pitch a strong game.

Brianna B. tossed her 2^nd no-hitter of the season and had 10 K’s as Poway defeated El Camino 10-0.  All 9 batters in the starting lineup had hits for a total of 13 for the game.

The Titans suffered a tough setback losing a 3-2 game vs. Mira Mesa.  The Marauders got out to an early 3-0 lead until the sixth when Amelia L. hit a clutch 2-run single to close the gap, but it was not meant to be as Mira Mesa pitching stymied the Titan bats allowing only 5 hits.

Poway entered the break on a high note defeating San Pasqual 10-4 on Thursday, scoring 4 runs in the first and breaking open a 6-4 game by scoring 4 in the seventh.  The Titans ran their record to 10-3 on the season.

The Poway JV rebounded from their Westview loss with a 4-0 victory over Mt. Carmel on Thursday to improve to 5-1 on the season.  Brianna B. tossed 71 pitches (60 strikes) in a complete game scattering 3 hits.  Poway scratched a run in the bottom of the second, but was able to put the game away in the bottom of the sixth with a clutch 2-out RBI single from Amber W. followed by a long 2-run homer to right by Britnea B.

3/18/09

Poway suffered its first defeat of the season on Wednesday losing 3-1 to a tough Westview team.  Wolverine pitching held the Titans to only 4 hits while stranding 7 base runners.  The Titans led 1-0 until the 4^th when Westview scored all 3 of their runs.  Poway hopes to bounce back on Thursday when they face Mt. Carmel.

The Poway JV softball team looked very strong in their two pre season scrimmages last week.  On March 4th, host Poway answered two first inning runs by Patrick Henry with four of their own in the bottom of the first and never looked back in a 10-3 victory.  Kathryn D. led the offensive attack with 3 hits (including a triple) and driving in 3 runs while Cassie V. and Brianna B. each smacked a home run.  Laurel D. struck out 6 in 3 innings of work in the circle to earn the victory.  The bats were out in force again Friday 3/6 as the Titans pummeled Granite Hills by a score of 13-1.  Amber W. led the way with 3 hits (including a HR) and she was joined in the HR department by Kathryn D. and Lindsay P.  Meanwhile P Brianna B. didn't allow a hit and struck out 5 in three innings of work.   

Poway JV girls got off to a good start with an impressive 8-0 win over West Hills.  Laurel D pitched 7 strong innings scattering 7 hits and got the only run she needed in the first when Kathryn D laced a 2-2 pitch to the left center field fence to score Britany B. from first.  The game remained close and would have been tied in the bottom of the third inning on a single up the middle had it not been for center fielder “Skooch” S.'s perfect throw to the plate, which was a strike to catcher Cassi V. who applied the tag.  Poway’s offense broke it open in the fifth scoring 4 runs and putting the game away in the sixth scoring 3 more.

The JV Titans improved to 3-0 on the season with a decisive 15-0 win over Fallbrook in the RB tournament.  Cassi V. homered and tripled to go along with a balanced 10-hit offensive attack.  Brianna B. tossed a 1-hitter in a 5 inning complete game striking out 8 Warriors. 

Next game vs. La Costa Canyon on Monday at PHS.

Courtney A. pitched 5 strong innings and struck out 7 as the Titans prevailed, overcoming an early 1-0 deficit in their home opener and defeating University City 8-1.  Amelia L. pitched the final 2 innings and led Poway’s 12-hit offensive attack with 3 hits including a double and 2 runs scored.  Megan R. made a nice sliding catch at first base to thwart a UC rally.  Next game is Saturday at RB High School against Fallbrook at 10:00.

Laurel D. pitched a complete game striking out 8 Mavericks as the Titans came away with an 8-2 victory over La Costa Canyon on Monday.  Amelia L. led the offense with 2 hits and 2 RBI.
